Trading Rules:

I don't do a whole lot (i.e. any) trading at the moment because life gets busier the older you get, but I will make exceptions for a few.  I prefer to trade electronically if at all possible, from ftp servers.  That's the easiest way and saves any problems with postage and stuff.

The only things piquing my interest at the moment are solid recordings of James from 1993-present, solo acoustic shows by Colin Hay of any era, and since my job kept me from enjoying the genius that is the original Jane's Addiction lineup this past year, I'm desperate to get shows from the tour, either audio or video.

Thanks, guys.  You all rock!  Traders rule.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park
Philadelphia, PA
1 CD B+ no bass, subpar recording of a great show.

Approximate hours: 82.5

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

08/30/79

Canada National Study Conference
Hastings Lake, AB
3 CD A A- Recording is slightly weathered, but this is a incredible setlist and one you will not hear again from Bruce. A true diamond (in the rough).

05/11/80

Paradise Theatre
Boston, MA
1 CD A+ Incomplete great show from Bruce's earlier days.

05/13/80

My Father's Place
Old Roslyn, NY
2 CD A A A bit bass heavy, and has certainly gone through a few non-digital generations, but a fabulous show.

10/23/81

Rainbow Music Hall
Denver, CO
2 CD A A+ Most likely a broadcast recording, but definitely one of the best early-80's Cockburn shows you can find.

10/29/83

Capital Theatre
Sydney, Australia
2 CD A A+ Excellent radio brodcast, with just the occasional announcer speaking over top of some applause. This show is incomplete - sadly, "Fascist Architecture" and "After The Rain" are missing from the FM version of this show.

03/10/89

Theatre of Living Arts
Philadelphia, PA
2 CD A A+ Soundboard. Excellent.

04/21/89

Paramount Theatre
Denver, CO
2 CD A+ A+ Best full-band Bruce show that I have heard or own that was not commercially released. Some transitions aren't flawless, but the quality of the recording is.

05/15/92

Theatre Fabrik
Hamburg, Germany
2 CD A+ A Heavy on the reverb from the PA system. Excellent setlist that includes quite posisbly the best version of "Lovers In A Dangerous Time" that I have ever heard Cockburn do. This whole era was a real pinnacle in Bruce's touring history.

08/28/93

Fox Theatre
Boulder, CO
1 CD A A+ Soundboard. Private show for music industry folks. Largely improvised setlist due to equipment problems which Bruce elaborates on.

03/13/97

Fabrik
Hamburg, Germany
2 CD A A This show would absolutely get an A+ if not for the fact that the levels peak every once in a while, and the whole thing is pretty much recorded right at the sound limits. Excellent show.

05/03/97

Barrymore Theatre
Madison, WI
2 CD A- A-

07/18/97

Intermedia Art Center
Huntington, NY
2 CD A A Probably the best-sounding recording of the Charity Of Night tour I've heard so far.

11/03/97

Van Duzer Theater
Arcata, CA
2 CD A+ A+ Nope, I take it back - THIS is the best-sounding recording I've heard from this tour.

Styleen's Rhythm Palace
Syracuse, NY
2 CD A A+

09/28/99

Martyr's Club
Chicago, IL
1 CD A A+ Abbreviated (incomplete)recording of a WXRT broadcast. Solo Bruce in all his glory.

12/09/99

The Gothic Theatre
Denver, CO
1 CD A A KBCO-sponsored benefit show that was also part of Bruce's pre-release promo tour for "Breakfast In..."

03/11/00

Keswick Theater
Glenside, PA
2 A A Easily the best full-band recording I've heard from the Breakfast In... Tour.

03/15/00

Colonial Thaeter
Keene, NH
2 CD B+

03/18/00

Berklee Performance Center
Boston, MA
2 CD B+

08/01/00

Slim's
San Francisco, CA
2 CD A A-

03/01/02

Somerville Theatre
Somerville, MA
2 CD A- Volume's a bit low on this one but it's a great show from a tiny theatre in metro Boston. Solo acoustic Bruce, so you can't go wrong.

03/22/02

Moore Theater
Seattle, WA
2 A A This is an excellent audience recording. Bruce is chatty and plays great, as usual. It also includes the best solo acoustic version of "Lovers In A Dangerous Time" that I have ever heard.

03/24/02

McPherson Playhouse
Victoria, BC
2 A A

05/10/02

Convocation Hall
Toronto, ON
2 CD A A- Spellbinding version of Rumours Of Glory leads off Disc 2.

05/19/03

The Tulip Festival
Ottawa, ON
1 CD A A Broadcast. It is unclear whether or not this is a complete recording. Excellent semi-acoustic versions of old and new songs.

08/06/03

The Vogue Theatre
Vancouver, BC
2 CD A A-

09/08/03

The Stables
Milton Keynes, UK
2 CD A A- Distant recording, but a quiet an attentive crowd make it a very, very listenable one. Duo w/ Julie Wolf on keys.

09/09/03

The Forum
London, UK
2 CD A A Great audience recording from what sounds like the most beautiful venue in all of England. Duo w/ Julie Wolf.

09/30/03

Sendesaal
Bremen, Germany
2 CD A A Broadcast. About the best-quality recording you will get of the Bruce/Julie tour dates.

10/03/03

Naima
Forli, Italy
2 CD A A Duo w/ Julie Wolf. Damn, this whole tour was good.

10/22/03

Calvin Theatre
Northampton, MA
2 CD A A- Tinny, hollow recording of an otherwise good show.

11/22/03

The Rosebud
Pittsburgh, PA
2 CD A A-

11/25/03

Heart Theatre (The Egg)
Albany, NY
2 CD A A

11/30/03

Hamilton Place
Hamilton, ON
2 CD A A- My understanding is that the taper was extremely close to the stage and as a result picked up mostly monitor mix, which explains why the guitar is so low. However, this recording includes a great re-worked version of "If A Tree Falls," and an excellent full-band version of "Lovers..."

12/04/03

River Run Theatre
Guelph, ON
2 CD A A Bruce is chatty and the band play very well. Missing a bit of low end, but still totally worth having.

Buckcherry

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

09/20/01

House of Blues
Los Angeles, CA
1 CD A A+ Sounds like it could very well be a soundboard recording. Joshua Todd's screaming vocals are off-key a bit in places, but it's a rocking show. Very worth having.

Colin Hay
Approximate hours: 40

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

??/??/89

Unknown
Unknown, Australia
1 CD B+ B+ This is most likely a radio broadcast handed down from cassette tape to cassette tape. Decent for how old the recording is, and very interesting to hear the Colin hay Band perform. To my knowledge, this is the only recording that exists of that group. My disc also includes some random unknown songs from a show in America, and then the two songs Colin performed at the Fred Walecki Benefit on August 9th, 2000.

03/19/99

Boomerang Bar, Australian Embassy
Bonn, Germany
2 CD A A Great audience recording. Setlist is wide and varied, featuring songs that haven't been played live since this tour. Levels peak at times and the crowd is a bit noisy, but a great recording.

03/21/99

Molly Malone's
Marburg, Germany
2 CD B+ A- The overall sound of the recording is good, but this particular German audience is especially rude, prompting Colin to take a few minutes and tell some folks off. Difficult to enjoy this performance over the din of conversation.

03/23/99

Wild Rover
Aachen, Germany
2 CD A A Good recording, and the standout from this show is an impromtu rendering of I Can See It In Your Eyes. There is a minor, split-second anomaly during that track.

04/18/99

Maxwell's
Hoboken, NJ
2 CD A A- Remastered and re-edited. This is the worst-sounding show of Colin Hay I have, and it's still a gem. In this instance, poor recording cannot mask a great performance.

05/07/99

Rams Head Tavern
Annapolis, MD
1 CD A+ A- Most likely an incomplete show, but a classic example of Hay's sense of humour, song catalogue and masterful guitar playing.

06/06/00

Kendall Cafe
Cambridge, MA
2 CD A- A- First of a 3-night stand at the now-defunct Kendall Cafe club.

06/07/00

Kendall Cafe
Cambridge, MA
2 CD A A- Master recording.

06/08/00

Kendall Cafe
Cambridge, MA
2 CD A A- There is a lot of chatter (as was typical at the Kendall), and the taper clearly had to do some serious stealthwork to pull off the recording in such a wee place. All things considered, a good recording.

03/27/01

MusikBunker
Aachen, Germany
2 CD A A Interesting mixup of the setlist used on other recordings, with a cut or two not found on any others. The language barrier between Colin and the German audience causes many of his anecdotes and jokes to fall flat, but the crowd are enthusiastic just the same.

03/29/01

Kulturfabrik
Krefeld, Germany
2 CD A B+ Some very interesting changes in this show - a request is made for Children On Parade, and there is also a great performance of Catch A Star.

07/13/01

Bull Run Restaurant
Shirley, MA
2 CD A A- Would be an A but for the hiss in the background. Excellent show, one of the better Colin Hay live recordings out there.

07/21/01

The Point
Bryn Mawr, PA
1 CD A B- There's a fair amount of his on this recording, unusual for 2001. Sounds almost cassette-ish. Colin is in a great mood, drags out songs from all eras of his career. Abrupt changes at each track, most likely applause being cut. This show is incomplete.

01/31/04

The Canyon Club
Agoura Hills, CA
2 CD A A Full-band show. Great career-spanning setlist.

02/20/04

Winchester Tavern
Lakewood, OH
1 CD A A- Levels peak at times and there are a few annoying talking patrons, but it's a great gig and a solid recording.

03/23/04

Tractor Tavern
Seattle, WA
2 CD A A The best Colin Hay show recording circulating, hands down.

04/15/04

Lucky Dog Music Hall
Worcester, MA
2 CD A A Sony NetMD Master. One of the best Colin Hay recordings I have ever heard and definitely one of the best Colin Hay shows I've ever seen.

04/16/04

Regent Theatre
Arlington, MA
2 SHN A A- After much remastering by Jeff Brown, I am happy to finally be able to offer this master recording of mine to the masses. Still rather quiet, but absolutelu worth having. Colin talks more at this show than any one I have seen or heard. Includes a great impression of Christopher Walken as president, and a blistering version of I'll Leave the Light On.

Collective Soul

Rantarock Festival
Vaasa, Finland
1 CD A A+ Solid soundboard recording, most likely from a radio broadcast.

12/17/99

Jannus Landing
St. Petersburg, FL
2 CD A Dave gets nicked in the eye by something a fan threw onstage. Makes for very interesting listening.

08/25/02

Champlain Valley Exposition
Essex Junction, VT
2 CD A

08/28/02

Tweeter Center
Mansfield, MA
2 CD A- very interesting show. Dave succeeds in turning the entire audience against him by slagging Sammy Hagar.

07/14/03

The Orbit Room
Grand Rapids, MI
2 CD A A Typical Dave, love him or hate him. Some minor clicks and pops here and there, but overall a fantastic audience recording.

Dead Men Walking
Approximate hours: 1.25

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

07/20/03

New Roscoe
Leeds, England
1 CD A A+ Soundboard recording. Dead Men Walking is a side project featuring Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), Kirk Brandon (Spear Of Destiny), Billy Duffy (The Cult) and Mike Peters (The Alarm). Features songs from all band members' previous incarnations.

Depeche Mode

11/20/90

Wembley Arena
London, England
2 CD A- A- I have seen this show advertised as "As Time Goes By." A very dead crowd and a slightly distant recording, but the vocals come through quite clear.

05/21/93

Hallenstadion
Zürich, Switzerland
2 CD B+ B+ Quality of the recording isn't great, but includes a pretty great setlist. Very early in the tour, so there were many bugs to iron out in the show. My version is the original commercially released CD set on X Rekords.

Fleetwood Mac

1 CD A A Great version of "Sometimes (Lester Piggot)" on this one.

05/01/97

Kiss
Approximate hours: 36.25

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

06/14/79

Civic Center
Lakeland, FL
2 CD A- Dress rehearsal for Dynasty tour. Several hundred radio station contest winners were allowed access to the show, explaining the boominess of the room and the lack of crowd response. One listen to this show and you will understand why the band rr-recorded "Alive" in the studio - any Kiss show in the 70's played back via the soundboard was just not a good idea.

07/26/96

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A A Excellent audience recording.

07/31/96

FleetCenter
Boston, MA
2 CD A A- Overall great sound, but all through the recording there are transitions between songs that range from seamless to annoyingly abrupt.

06/11/97

Prins Van Oranje Hal
Utrecht, The Netherlands
2 CD A- Not as much low-end present as one might want, but a great recording nonetheless.

10/31/98

Dodger Stadium
Los Angeles, CA
2 CD A Quality of this broadcast recording is excellent, but the tradeoff is less-than-seamless transitions and an announcer talking over a few small parts of the gig.

03/12/00

Tucson Convention Center
Tucson, AZ
2 CD A A

05/19/00

Marcus Ampitheatre
Milwaukee, WI
2 CD A A-

06/12/00

Tweeter Center
Mansfield, MA
2 CD B+ A- My recording includes an interview by legendary DJ Dave Lawrence with Gene Simmons before the show. Show features a truly wasted Ace Frehley limping through a guitar solo that may make you cry.

06/16/00

Sony E-Center
Camden, NJ
2 CD A A- Great sounding show, slightly distant but very, very clear. Most likely recorded from the lawn of the ampitheatre.

06/27/00

Continental Airlines Arena
East Rutherford, NJ
2 CD A one of the best - if not the best - recordings from this tour.

07/22/00

07/24/00

Rose Garden
Portland, OR
2 CD A A-

09/18/00

10/07/00

North Charleston Coliseum
Charleston, SC
2 CD A A- Kind of a high-end recording, but a great show.

11/24/03

2 CD A B+ All instruments come through very clear and the show is a great one, but overall sound quality is less than great.

1 CD A A- Best recording I've heard from this tour; extra tracks from American television performances are a welcome treat to an already good disc.

09/16/97

Strand Theatre
Providence, RI
1 CD A- Good recording at a terrible venue.

08/23/02

Approximate hours: 10

Date  Venue Media Show Quality Sound Quality Source Notes

10/29/94

Wetlands Preserve
New York, NY
1 CD A+ A+ Fade-in during the opening riff to "Rock n Roll Star," but otherwise this is an absolutely flawless, fantastic recording of Oasis's second show ever in New York City. Although they repeat the first song, it marks Oasis's first ever encore.

03/11/95

Avalon
Boston, MA
1 CD A A- Pretty rocking show. A bit bass heavy and it starts out somewhat tentative quality-wise, but overall it's a great recording. Definitely worth having.

10/14/95

Orpheum Theatre
Boston, MA
1 CD A A Liam's voice cuts out and Noel sings lead towards the end. Most likely a WBCN broadcast. A bit bass-heavy but absolutely awesome show.

11/05/95

Earl's Court Exhibition Centre
London, England
2 CD A A+ Ass-kicking rock show.

09/06/96

The Centrum
Worcester, MA
2 CD A- A- Anomalies (possibly extraction errors) throughout "Cast No SHadow," but otherwise a great recording and the best I've heard from this show.

05/17/01

Fiddlers Green Amphitheatre
Englewood, CO
1 CD A A+ Absolutely flawless soundboard recording - one of the best-sounding shows in my entire music collection. Soundboard recordings don't lie; love them or hate them, this show proves Oasis are an incredibly tight, well-oiled machine live.

1 CD B+ My copy of this show is not seamless - I discovered recently that there are small pauses between tracks. In an incredible act of goodwill, Sammy brings out his replacement in Van Halen, Gary Cherone, to sing a few songs in the encore.

Smashing Pumpkins

03/26/86

Orpheum Theatre
Boston, MA
1 CD B+ Highly rare recording of an early US tour. Several songs from what will end up being the "Electric" album make their debut in Boston, and sound nothing like their eventual recorded versions. Imagine hearing "Love Removal Machine" played as if it was from the "Love" album!

10/24/91

Sportpaleis Ahoy
Rotterdam, Holland
2 CD A opening night of the "Ceremonial Stomp" tour.

06/06/92

Finsbury Park
London, England
1 CD A A+ An incomplete but excellent recording of an incredible Cult gig.

05/29/93

Milton Keynes Bowl
Milton Keynes, England
1 CD B B+ Support-length set opening for Guns & Roses. Sound is not together and band play less than great.

06/12/93

Vooruit
Gent, Belgium
1 CD A A Best show I've heard from this particular year of The Cult's career. They split this summer up between opening for stadium acts like Guns n' Roses and Metallica and also doing European club shows to promote the songs that would ultimately end up on their eponymous album the following year. Interesting to listen how the songs evolved. Great show.

06/13/93

Hippodrome De Vincennes
Paris, France
1 CD A A- Opening for Metallica. This show would get an A for quality if not for the distant nature of the sound and the hiss that is a bit audible only between songs. Otherwise, it's a great recording.

06/20/93

Fussbalstadion St. Jakob
Basel, Switzerland
1 CD A A- Another Metallica opener. Sound is a bit fuller and boomier than the Paris show, and the natural reverb from a staium show is clearly evident on this recording. Kinda cool - makes you feel like you're there.

10/29/94

Toad's Place
New Haven, CT
2 CD A A- Source is a bit tinny but overall sound is great and the band perform very well.

2 CD A A- Less-than-excellent audience recording of a good Cult show.

02/18/95

Student Union Ballroom
San Jose, CA
2 CD A- Much debate as to the exact location and date of this show...most agree it is from San Jose. Incomplete.

02/20/95

The Palladium
Hollywood, CA
2 CD A A+ Originally broadcast via Westwood One. The band sounds excellent and the quality of the recording is outstanding, but as is typical with radio shows, there are a couple of mid-set fades between songs.

03/18/95

Estadio Obras Sanitarias
Buenos Aries, Argentina
1 CD A A Solid recording from a solid show. Recorded just days before The Cult imploded, cancelling all remaining tour dates on their 1994/1995 tour.

07/31/99

Cleveland Agora
Cleveland, OH
1 CD A A Great show, mediocre crowd.

08/02/99

Avalon
Boston, MA
2 CD A A+ Absolutely the best audience recording of the Cult Rising reunion tour.

08/20/99

House of Blues
Los Angeles, CA
1 CD A A Best soundboard recording of the Cult Rising reunion tour. The false start on "Love Removal Machine" is classic.

11/10/00

Estadio Obras Sanitarias
Buenos Aries, Argentina
1 CD A A- Good audience recording - some minor cuts, but overall a great recording. One of the few shows where "Painted On My Heart" is played live.

1 CD A A Solid-sounding recording. The typical Japanese reservedness makes for little crowd noise and an almost soundboard-quiet audience recording.

10/18/02

Ventura Theater
Ventura, CA
2 CD A A Lineup includes Scott Garrett and Craig Adams, who played drums/bass respectively on the Cult's self-titled album in 1994 and toured with the band from 1993-1995. Band goes deep into their catalogue for this setlist, which is easily the longest and most career-spanning of their entire concert history. Includes dusted-off classics like "Moya," and "Horse Nation". There is a slight 10-second hiccup on "Star," but it's a small price to pay for a great recording of a great show. A must-have for Cult fans.

2 CD A- B+ This is the COMPLETE Charlton show, but the price paid is that it's not nearly as good a listen as the incomplete professional recordings.

11/20/75

The Summit
Houston, TX
2 CD A A The Who kicked major arena-rawk ass on this tour, and this particular show is definitely no exception. There are some editing issues here and there, but it is a fantastic recording overall, particularly given the time period.

12/11/75

Maple Leaf Gardens
Toronto, ON
2 CD A+ A- Audience recording that is outstanding for the time period. Widely regarded as one of the best shows The Who ever played, and in any case it is clear that this band tore a roomful of Canucks a big, new collective asshole. Totally worth having in spite of the heavy crowd noise.

07/07/00

Blockbuster-Sony Center
Camden, NJ
3 CD A A Less-than-perfect soundboard recording of what I believe to be one of The Who's greatest tours of their entire career. There is some debate as to the true setlist of this tour, and my setlist differs in sequence from setlists posted on the internet. It doesn't sound like mine was screwed up, so I'm going to assume my recording is correct in its order.

1 CD A- U2's last show before their deal with Island records, which happens directly after the gig.

12/13/80

The Paradise
Boston, MA
1 CD A B+ This is the one show that goes against my Bunk Recordings" credo. The sound quality isn't great, and it's certainly not seamless. It has cleary been sped up, so for no apparent reason U2 sound slike they're all 14. I would normally rate this a B, but its historical value (U2's 7th show in America) is enough to bump it up to a B+.

1 CD A Great broadcast recording from U2's early festival days.

08/07/82

Ruisrock Festival
Turku, Finland
1 CD B+ Spirited show from a Finnish festival, but slightly dicey recording quality in spots. Obviously recorded from a far side of the stage. Includes a smoking version of "A Celebration."

12/14/82

Falkoner Teatret
Copenhagen, Denmark
2 CD B+ Recording is good but distant, and it is not completely seamless. There are some abrupt transitions between songs that a lot of traders would really get pissed about if they didn't know beforehand.

10/23/84

St. Herblain

The Centrum
Worcester, MA
2 CD A B I only post this show because I know there are some hardcore U2 collectors out there and some Boston-area folks who might have been at this one. It's a substandard, very unseamless recording of the full performance. Which, I might add, was downright blinding. If you can get past the less-than-good quality of the recording, you'll be witness to a great example of this band's mid-80's power. However, this IS for collectors only.

12/03/84

Radio City Music Hall
New York, NY
2 CD A B+ Quality of the recording isn't amazing, and there's an annoying patron who gets his two cents in every so often (probably the taper himself). However, extreme crowd control problems and the band's way of dealing with it make this a fascinating listen.

05/08/87

2 CD A A- Starts out a bit uncertain but cleans up fairly quickly. Not all the transitions are 100% flawless, but they're hardly distracting.

05/09/87

Hartford Civic Center
Hartford, CT
2 CD A A- This show would get a solid A if not for some crackling anomalies during the first few minutes of Electric Co. and an abrupt, jarring transition into Edge's guitar intro for "...Streets..." from the previous track. Otherwise, this is a fantastic recording.

05/11/87

Brendan Byrne Arena
East Rutherford, NJ
2 CD A A I would give this one an A+, but there's a single transition that's not seamless and the sound gets a bit warbly for a few minutes on the second disc. 97% of this recording is as good or better than anything else you're likely to hear from this particular tour.

05/12/87

Brendan Byrne Arena

2 CD A A- Sound is a bit tinnier than others from this New Jersey run, but other than a few songs in the middle they completely turn the setlist upside down and it makes for a fascinating and unusual Joshua Tree Tour listen. 01/05/90

Sport Paleis Ahoy

2 CD A+ A Solid show. WIth the rest of the world thinking that the Lovetown Tour is over, U2 slink off to The Netherlands to play a string of makeup dates. The shows are loose, inspired and U2 at their best. It's to every U2 collector's delight that these shows were recorded so well.

01/06/90

Sport Paleis Ahoy

2 CD A+ A+ Most traders will disagree with me that an audience recording could ever get an A+ rating, but this is easily one of my top 5 favorite U2 bootlegs. The crowd is noisy & enthusiastic, and the band play a loose and celebratory end-of tour show that ends up being the last show they do for over 2 years. Absolutely one of the best U2 shows you can own, and a staple in any collection. Highly recommended.

2 CD A A- Dress reheasral for the Outside Broadcast Tour. The informal nature of the show lends itself to a very loose, relaxed atmosphere. 2 CD A- taped next to a very loud, drunk girl, but otherwise a great show. some very minor clicks and pops and cuts in certain places.

01/31/98

Morumbi Stadium
São Paulo, Brazil
2 CD A- A- A tired band close to the end of a long, long tour. Comes across less and inspired to me, but maybe that's just because I'm not the biggest fan of the PopMart era. Some transitions are not smooth, but it's still a radio broadcast. Could be a whole lot worse.

02/11/98

Estadio Nacional
Santiago, Chile
2 CD A- A+ Not exactly the most seamless transitions in the world, most likely because it was taken from a radio broadcast that probably had station IDs every few songs. Still a great listen.

1 DVD A A- Pro-shot, but footage is grainier than it should be for the time period and is also in B&W. A good show, though, and the last night of the PopMart Tour.

1 CD A+ A+ For the first time in almost 20 years, U2 open up a huge can of blinding whoop-ass on an American club. A must in any U2 fan's collection.

12/05/00

Irving Plaza

1 DVD A+ A+ Shot from a single camera at the back of the club, with sound taken from the radio broadcast feed. A great document of the beginning of another great era in U2's career.

2 CD A A+ I was present for all 4 Boston shows. With the pressure off from the filming of the DVD, U2 deliver what I believe was easily the best of the 4 shows tonight. They play loose and inspired.

2 CD A UPGRADED!! Thanks to my good friend Scott Prather, I finally have recordings of these shows I can be proud of. This night has a few talkative folks near the mics, but it includes a great acoustic version of "Please" and one of the better anti-Bin Laden monologues you're likely to hear.

10/31/01

Dunkin Donuts Center

2 CD A- The unusual circumstances surrounding this show (Larry Mullen's birthday) and the celebratory atmosphere contained therein excuses the rather tinny nature of the recording.

10/07/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A+ A- Some bands come to New York City and they get swallowed up and eaten. Other bands eat the city. Guess which kind of band U2 is?

10/08/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A+ A Less peaking in the levels as compared to the previous night's recording, which may explain for why everything sounds better - the show, the crowd, the playing. Then again, this band has yet to play a bad show in their career.

10/10/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A+ A There are elements of this show that sound even better than even the 8th. Tradeoff is the crowd sounds a bit more distant. Donde?

10/11/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A A+ An slight bit of peaking, but I guarantee this will be the best audience recording you find from this tour. I dare you to tell the difference between this an your average radio station simulcast.

10/14/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A+ A+ Only slightly less great than than its counterparts, this show is again a classic audience recording of a band claiming New York as its own.

10/17/05

2 CD A+ A- Bono's voice is a bit scratchy tonight, and the overall recording is a bit tinny. Otherwise great.

11/02/05

Staples Center
Los Angeles, CA
2 CD A B++ Another underwhelming 3rd-leg show. I'm amazed at the amount of substandard audio recordings from this tour. 20 years ago this would be considered an A-quality recording. Some dick standing next to the taper intermittently adds his useless $.02.

11/04/05

MGM Grand Garden Arena

2 CD A A- Head and shoulders above the following night's recording.

11/05/05

MGM Grand Garden Arena

2 CD A B+ this is audio taken from the DVD...ever get one of those bootlegs where the audio came directly from a video master and it's not as good just listening to it as it is listening AND watching? Yeah.

11/05/05

MGM Grand Garden Arena
Las Vegas, NV
2 DVD A A- This actually a very decent audience-cam shot from Adam Clayton's side of the stage, and fairly close. There are some "vertigo" moments, but overall the taper had an exceptionally steady hand.

11/13/05

American Airlines Arena
Miami, FL
2 CD A+ A- Kinda high-end, a bit tinny. I know I use that word a lot, but I can't seem to find a better one.

11/14/05

11/19/05

Phillips Arena

2 CD A+ A Against my better judgement I'm going to give this show an A for sound. It's a bit distorted at times, but there is something about U2 in Atlanta. They go off.

11/21/05

Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
2 CD A+ A- Audio seems a bit odd. I can't put my finger on it. It's not bad, but it's my least favorite of all the NY recordings from this tour.

2 CD A+ A- Yeah. I'm just not feeling this run of recordings, I have to tell ya.

11/26/05

Bell Centre

2 CD A A- Of the Montreal shows I have from recent tours, this one sounds the best. The frogs area typically rowdy, zealous U2 audience, and many times they drown out the band completely. This recording is good.

12/05/05
