Trading Rules:

****TAKING A LITTLE BREAK FROM TRADING****

Hey all!! I am almost always interested in setting something up, and I mostly trade audio (rather than shn)...I have plenty of references that I would be glad to provide. I only have a few rules, but they're pretty concrete!! What I will do: -I extact using EAC, this is a really great program!! -All discs are burnt DAO -Lineage and set/track listings will be included. -I ship discs in Case Logic sleeves, or something of equal quality. -All packages are mailed first class (or priority) in bubble mailer. What I would like from you: -Please use EAC, it's worth the extra time -Burn discs DAO, NO generic discs please (Maxell, Memorex, Etc) -PLEASE include lineage and set/track listings if they aren't on your list!!! -Inform me if songs are out of order(I.E. encore on second disc, etc) -Digital sources ONLY!, NO MP3's!!!!!!!! -Also inform me of digital flaws, clipped songs, etc. -Ship discs in sleeves, no jewel cases. -Use bubble type envelopes.... NO FIBERFILL ENVELOPES!!! -Most important, please just be honest!!! Special thanks go out to all of the wonderful people I have met throughout the years, but most especially Spud, Dyer, Jim and Tilli!!! You guys rock!! Of course if you have any questions or comments about a particular show or something, please feel free to email me!!

The Turning Point
Piermont, NY
2 cd A+ SBD>DAT>CD Very crisp sound, nice set too. The person who got this show to me said that Dan sounded a tad bit unfocused (drunk perhaps?). I think I might have to disagree a bit...the show is played very well, and the music is of a very high quality. Some of the banter in between songs is a little funny perhaps, but nothing too bad. Definitely worth a listen!

Prism Coffee House
Charlottesville, VA
2 cd A+ SBD>DAT>CD BEAUTIFUL!! I remember having this show on tape a long time ago, and the quality was wonderful....the translation onto digital media is perfect. This is where Dave Matthews shines in my opinion, in front of a small crowd in Charlottesville with Tim...it seems like there are plenty of friends in the audience and everyone is having a wonderful time. It really makes you think how long ago it was that DMB was virtually unknown and they were still playing at Trax and the Floodzone on Tuesdays and Wednesdays...now they're international superstars!!! As you can probably guess, I am a BIG fan of their older stuff :)

Trax
Charlottesville, VA
2 cd A+ SBD>DAT>CD Another beautiful early set for DMB. This one has the Halloween and Watchtower that were released on the 'Recently' EP. These versions are unedited of course! Beautiful playing too, and one of the last shows for the band at Trax. Just a few months later, 'Under the Table and Dreaming' would come out, and they would outgrow the smaller clubs that became their bread and butter. Definitely worth a listen!

3 cd A AUD>?>5th gen. DAT>Tascam DA-P1>COAX/TOSLINK converter>Dio 2448>Cool Edit Pro 1.1>48kHz-44.1>CDWave>mkwACT>.shn Wonderful recording, even better show...this was my first DMB show ever, and it definitely changed my life. I didn't know it then, but this show had opened the door for me for live music. What an incredible night it was at the Garden, good times with great friends and ex's...it's too bad they don't put on shows like this anymore!! Definitely worth your trouble!!

06/11/97

Jones Beach Amphitheatre

There's something about being at Jones Beach that really gets me going. I was with some friends, and we had ditched school at the time. The weather was perfect for being on the beach, and then we had nice weather for the show itself. The show was VERY nice, with a great Beauty of Winona. The only thing I can think of that was a downer at this show was a girl throwing up in her seat in front us, and then leaving her seat and her mess for us to smell the whole time! Yuch!!

3 cd B AUD>MC>?>7" R>DAT>CD>HD>SHN>CD, taper, mics and deck unknown. A>D transfer by Noah Weiner (thanks Noah!!) First off, this is a rather lo-fi recording, obviously showing its age. There are multiple sources and d/os, as well as some other flaws. If you're interested in knowing them, I have a laundry list...BUT, you should not turn your nose up at this one!! It's a complete show from 1970, from the band's Spring college tour. The amount of college deadheads that got on the bus that spring must be astounding. If you really want to hear what it was like to be in an audience at one of these unbelievable shows, then you should probably pick this one up. For another disc, you can have NRPS set which has some acompanyment from Garcia and Weir. Do yourself a favor and dive into the experience!! Oh yeah, and happy birthday Jess!!

2 cd A Sony ECM-22P mics>Sony 770 Reel to Reel (50 ft back from the stage)>DAT>CD Deal cuts in. Hard to Handle (which is probably the best ever) was used on 'Fallout from the Phil Zone'. Rumor has it that Jerry was on his knees playing during the climax! The audience recording is UNBELIEVABLE. If you're not up and out of your seat dancing within the first minute of Bertha, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with you!!

3 cd A+ MR>DAT>SS>CD Missing Cumberland Blues (which is on Europe 72), Truckin has a tiny dropout, and the first note of Dark Star is clipped. This show is absolutely mind boggling. The Dark Star post lyric jam is completely legendary...and the breakout of Caution? Oh man!!! The Looks Like Rain is also a favorite version of mine, as it features Jerry on pedal steel (which he would only do a handful more times). If you don't own this, you owe it to yourself to pick it up!!

The show isn't even as spectacular as the other ones from the month, but the recording is wonderful (but don't get me wrong, it's a very good show!!). 2 cd A+ SBD>DAT>DAT>SSSB This show sounds WONDERFUL. Lots of people claim that his shows from this tour were outstaged by his own stage design! Here though, we have some great playing, and Paul's voice is in very good shape. Apparenlt, this show is missing a few songs (Figure Of Eight, Got To Get You Into My Life, and Rough Ride, Lennon's tribute), as they were not on the master, BUT there are a few sites which debate whether these few songs were even played that night. So we have no idea...either way, it's 29 songs!!! you can't really go wrong, can you?

1 cd A+ SBD>DAT>CD Very nice Jamgrass 2002 here. The volume level is a tiny bit low during the first minute or so, then it rights itself. This was the first time I had ever seen Rowan and his boys, and I was VERY impressed!! I hads always known some of his more popular songs (Panama Red, Midnight Moonlight), but the assortment of old roots and country stuff really hit home. The rendition of Cold Rain and Snow was one of the highlights for me, as I LOVE this arrangement (maybe even moreso than the Deads!!). If you want a tight, short, compact show, this is the one you're looking for.

I remember being amazed during this show as I was spinning around looking at the crowd in Hammerstein going bonkers. Seeing everyone dancing in unison to the sweet grooves is definitely something that will stay with me forever!

I was front row for a little while, until I was pushed aside by some rowdy, high, annoying fans. Funny, when I first saw them in 1999, the crowd was so nice and loving. I have no idea what happened. The band grew and Phish took a break...I guess it was only natural for the scene to get a little hairy. Anyways, a nice show, but sloppy at times. Robert Randolph guests on some songs!
