Black Crowes
Date Venue City State Media Type Media Count SHN Info Notes
01/08/94 Troubadour Los Angeles CA SHN 1 this info is from the www.frayed.org website: Foamfoot On January 8th, 1994 at the Troubadour in Hollywood, several members of the Black Crowes joined up with a handful of other artists for Foamfoot. Chris Robinson and Marc Ford of the Black Crowes played with Jimmy Ashurst (The JuJu Hounds), Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill), Gary Louris (The Jayhawks) and Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish). The show was an impromtu gig, however, it was recorded for possible release by the band. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) the show's master was copied and released as a bootleg. If you search hard enough, maybe you can find it. Frayed doesn't know where to find any bootlegs, so don't ask. i do..and here it is Setlist: Walk in My Shadow ~ written by Paul Rogers Bottle of Red Wine ~ written by Eric Clapton & Bonnie Bramlett Tin Soldier ~ written by The Small Faces Take the Highway *~ written by Toy Caldwell Deal ~ written by Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter (Garcia solo) Love Me Till The Sun Shines ~ written by The Kinks (Steve Marriot and Ray Davies) Long Time Gone **~ written by Crosby, Still, Nash Jeremiah Surrender ~ written by Levon Helm & Robbie Robertson One Way Out ~ written by S. 10/11/83 Madison Square Garden New York NY 0 These discs made avaliable to gdlive are identicle in terms of tracking and editing as those seeded on etree but these do have minimal noise reduction. These are the copies I listen to. I believe there is nothing wrong with NR and many of the folks downloading from gdlive don't have the capablities and or time to perform such procedures. So if you are worried about a good listen get these. If you are worried about collectiblity or want to do your own NR and or GE get the etree version. I made several splices to patch cassette flips using the etree audience version of this show and used many different technics to make these splices as transparent as possible. All editing was done using Cool Edit Pro. Patches are found on the following tracks: Disc 2 d2t01 0:00.00 -> 0:12.20 d2t06 3:53.19 -> 4:29.22 Disc 3 d3t04 2:42.23 -> 4:33.06 I would like to thank my friend Bob for getting me the etree discs to make the patches and thank Jay Silberman for taking the time to record these wonderful audience tapes. 10/19/91 The Catalyst Santa Cruz CA 0 *the original .shns (source was listed as "DSBD --> Dat (that's all I know) Sound great!!!") were not split on sector boundaries (only disc 1). I took the original .shns, decompressed them, put the .wavs back together in CoolEdit, and then cut them up correctly in CDWAV. Disc 2 was redone as well, just for the sake of splitting up a couple of tracks that weren't split on the original .shns. Questions or comments to chad.plemons@mindspring.com -Chad

03/31/93 Roseland Theater Portland OR 0 The original seed of this show did not include David Bowie. I have since found it and added it to the correct spot, the 1st track on Disc 2. This means that the rest of the tracks on Disc 2 had to be moved up one slot and YEM -> Vocal Jam was moved to the beginning of Disc 3 (which is probably where it belonged anyway). This is a great show. I sought it out for a long time after reading an excellent review of the Hood. Indeed you can definitely feel good about this Hood, as well as the rest of the show. As of now (11/2000) it seems to me that it is rather underrated and not circulated much at all. The sound quality is EXCELLENT. It is about as good as audience recordings get. If I didn't know better I might even think it was a SBD/AUD mix. Some of these tracks had flaws which I corrected in Cool Edit 2000. I am pretty sure most circulating CDR copies of this show had these flaws because I obtained the show from a different trader to be sure and it was the same. Here is a summary of what was done: -Track 5 on Disc 1 (Mound) had three gaps of approximately 0.5 seconds each. These were at 4:58-9 and 5:08-9. Removed. -Track 1 on Disc 2 (Lengthwise) had some clicks and pops at 0:10-11, 0:30, and 1:23-24. These were removed or minimized to the best of my ability. -Track 4 on Disc 3 (AC/DC Bag) had static at 3:35. Removed. Also the last track, Sweet Adeline, has quite a bit of hiss and is rather flaky overall. It's really too much to fix, especially for an acapella track, so I decided to leave it as is. Sounds like it is a different source and possibly more than one source patched together. -Carl carl_ivar@yahoo.com

Stretch Out And Wait That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore Shakespeare's Sister The Headmaster Ritual Still Ill Meat Is Murder Miserable Lie Barbarism Begins At Home You've Got Everything Now The first broadcast of this concert was on Janice Long's BBC Radio 1 show. It is still being broadcast regularly today, albeit in shorter form (to fit one hour including commercials) or mixed with tracks from the Kilburn show in October 1986. This broadcast included a voice over at the end of "Barbarism Begins at Home", which I have removed, and an incomplete "You?ve got Everything Now", which I faded out instead of the rather abrupt ending on the broadcast. DBMTB Addendum 20 10 02. The missing tracks have been found from a silver disc rip, and the tracks have been included as extra files. The fades out have been removed and the tracks joined/merged in Sound Forge. The joins are barely audible.
