02/18/69 Columbia Records Studio Nashville TN 1 FLAC notes   Fun stuff, and fine sound quality. Cash is pretty goofy and fun listening all the time. Dylan doesn't add all that much, but it's entertaining anyway. Girl From The North Country isn't included on this disc.

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
02/28/67 Radiohuset, Studio 4 Stockholm Sweden 1 SHN notes   Perfect sound quality for a very short show. It's only about 20 minutes long with six songs and six small introductions for them.
11/02/68 Avalon Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 FLAC notes   A fine, fine show by a bunch of great musicians. The recording shows some age, but for the most part, it's a good listen. There's some nice slide guitar on most of the songs, too, which makes it even more awesome.
02/22/69 Boston Tea Party Boston MA 1 CDR notes   Perfect sound, and a great country rock set. Loads of fun!
01/04/70 Fillmore West San Francisco CA 2 CDR notes   Delightful! The guitars are right up front in the mix, although the drums and bass should be a bit higher, the show overall is amazing.
09/20/70 Pacific Memorial Stadium Stockton CA 2 CDR notes   Great sound for the most part, although there are a few sound glitches from the original tape and/or the soundboard from time to time. The Byrds rip it up for a nice long, action packed set.
??/??/70 Ash Grove Los Angeles CA 1 CDR notes   Pretty good sound, although the mix isn't perfect at first. The show is pretty nice, with some fine guitar work by Clarence White, and a few snazzy guests.

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
01/24/03 Hal & Mal's Jackson MS 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Very well recorded show, with just a little bit of quiet audience chatter in the background. Hudson is definitely one of the better current musicians and songwriters. Very nice stuff.
09/26/03 Mojo's Columbia MO 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. A stellar acoustic show by Cary Hudson and Mark Bilyeu with perfect sound quality. The highlight of the show is the portion of Cary's set with Mark sitting in, but it's a good time all around. Each set fits on one disc.

04/06/69 Avalon Ballroom San Francisco CA 1 CDR notes   Gram Parsons is a pretty cool guy, and the Burrito Brothers are a pretty cool band. There's some hiss all over this recording, and a few small digiclicks here and there. It's a fun show, otherwise.

¤ Hot Tuna ¤

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
12/08/00 Mystic Theatre Petaluma CA 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. Flawless recording of a very nice Acoustic Hot Tuna show. These guys just keep getting better!
12/01/02 Bardavon Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 1 SHN notes source 2 audio discs. First Hot Tuna show I attended. Great show and great audience recording.
11/30/03 Bardavon Opera House Poughkeepsie NY 1 FLAC notes source The volume on Jack's bass is pretty low until the beginning of Waiting For A Train, but this is because of the sound system, not the recording equipment. It was a very fun show, and it's a VERY clear recording. Barry Mitterhoff adds a lot to the sound of the acoustic duo, and they jammed out very nicely on most songs.
01/10/04 Aggie Theater Fort Collins CO 1 FLAC notes source 2 audio discs. There's some low level audience noise throughout the show, but damn it's a fine show! Each instrument is very easy to hear, which rocks. The guys sound like they're having a good time during and between the songs. It's a fun show. d2t03 has some electric noise in the beginning.

¤ The Jayhawks ¤
Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
07/04/93 Grant Park Chicago IL 1 CDR notes   Perfect soundboard recording, and a damn fine show! This fits into my category of "country music the way it's supposed to be," and these guys do that just right. The first 7 tracks of this CD are from New York 1995, also with perfect sound.
11/15/03 Gypsy Tea Room Dallas TX 2 CDR notes   Aside from the low volume, this is a very nice audience recording. A very delightful mix of country and rock sounds.
11/18/03 Bluebird Theater Denver CO 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Very similar recording quality to the previous show. The show itself is pretty much perfect as well. These guys make some terrific music.

¤ Jorma Kaukonen & Blue Country Heart ¤
Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
07/12/02 PNC Bank Art Center Holmdel NJ 1 CDR notes   More fun Jorma tunes with a snazzy ol' band. It's kind of like Tuna w/ Barry, but more old-time-blugrassy, and it's loads of fun, as always. Good sound, if a bit distant.

¤ Jorma Kaukonen & Sam Bush ¤
Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
06/30/00 High Sierra Music Festival Quincy CA 1 CDR notes   There's something cool about Jorma and Sam playing old folky-bluesy tunes with Jorma doing the good ol' acoustic guitar and Sam on... a slide mandolin? Awesome! Well, the sound is flawless soundboard, and the show is nice and relaxed.

02/24/79 The Bottom Line New York NY 1 CDR notes   Missing Sad Boy, but the rest of the show is here and perfect. This is most of the Byrds, and they play a lot of nice new songs. The group is great all around, as always.

06/25/76 Calderone Concert Hall Hempstead NY 1 SHN notes source Oh man, what a show! Yodeling! Pedal steel and slide guitar solos! Great songs! Perfect sound! How can you go wrong with this show? You can't! Now... I don't know if all the people who say "Robert Randolph is the greatest pedal steel player" have ever heard Buddy Cage, but this dude can rock!
10/07/05 Joyous Lake Woodstock NY 2 FLAC notes source Aaah, this was a wonderful night. A kickass band playing in a pretty small venue for hours. That Portland Woman > Willie jam rocked the house, as well as Take A Letter Maria, and just about everything else. The recording captures the atmosphere and clarity perfectly. This will remain as one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and one of the best recordings I have.

¤ Railroad Earth ¤

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
02/22/02 Starlight Fort Collins CO 1 SHN notes source Volume is a little low throughout the recording, but that's easy to fix. Turn it up to 11!
08/03/02 Ronquillo Ranch Somerset NJ 2 SHN notes source 3 audio discs. Another fine soundboard recording, and a pretty crazy 3.5 hour show. A particularly nice half-hour jam on Saddle Of The Sun > Buddha > Mess! Whoah!
01/31/03 The State Theatre Falls Church VA 1 SHN notes source Very nice show, especially the 20 minute Seven Story Mountain. Never a dull moment.
04/09/04 Moe's Alley Santa Cruz CA 2 SHN notes   3 audio discs. First time listening to this, I was expecting to be knocked out because it's one of my favorite bands, AND a really good pedal steel player. Sound is great, performance was kind of mellow at first, although still awesome. Not as good as I thought it would be, but then about halfway through disc 1, it hit me, and I nearly crapped my pants. It's a damn good show!
07/03/04 High Sierra Music Hall Quincy CA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs, barely. Sound is very nice for an audience recording. From the opening notes of Drag Him Down, you can tell this show is going to knock your socks off. And it does. Sure doesn't hurt to have a pedal steel, too!
07/04/04 High Sierra Music Festival - Grandstand Stage Quincy CA 1 SHN notes   2 audio discs (barely). Much better sound than the previous day's recording, and yet another stellar performance. Whooey!
12/09/04 Revolution Hall Troy NY 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. This show is the same source as that on etree, but I retracked them so that each song has its own track, and only one track. The show was great, a nice small venue with a good performance and a fun time. And a perfect soundboard recording as well. Good times!
02/20/05 Mexicali Blues Cafe Teaneck NJ 1 FLAC notes   It may not be perfect recording quality considering what's been available to RRE fans in the past, but holy crap... Any show by these guys is delightful, but when you add a troupe of guests to spice things up, this band becomes completely sublime. The last four songs, where there are 10 to 12 people onstage jamming away, will probably blow your mind.

¤ Ray Davies ¤

08/25/00 Jane Street Theater New York NY 2 CDR notes   Sound quality is very nice for an audience recording. Yo La Tengo adds a very cool sound to Davies' songs. They're all very good musicians, and Davies is a great songwriter, so it's a sweet show.

¤ Richard Thompson ¤
Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
11/06/82 Rackersberg Pub Uppsala Sweden 2 CDR notes   As with all the Richard Thompson acoustic shows I've heard, this recording captures the performance perfectly, and it sounds pretty much like you're right on stage with him and his guitar. It's a pretty long show, and every single song is just delightful.
08/13/94 The Cat's Cradle Chapel Hill NC 2 CDR notes   The show opens up with some great sounding acoustic guitarwork, and it just keeps going. Thompson is undoubtedly a fantastic guitar player and songwriter, so this is a very nice listen.
05/14/00 Rytmeposten Odense Denmark 1 FLAC notes   2 audio discs. Another show with flawless sound and wonderful songs. Danny Thompson's bass definitely adds a nice touch to the acoustic show.
05/23/00 Gröna Lund Stockholm Sweden 1 SHN notes   The first and last songs are cut, but that's about the only sound problem. The music is quite nice in all respects. A short and very good show.

Date Venue City State Count   Sound Quality SHN Info Notes
07/16/78 Paradise Rock Club Boston MA 1 FLAC notes   Nice, hot show with great sound. Petty sure is a crowd pleaser in this one. Lots of good originals, lots of covers, and nothing bad.
09/13/89 Dean Smith Center, University Of North Carolina Chapel Hill NC 1 CDR notes   Sounds great, just a little bit of hiss in the far background. Only downside to the performance is the audience sings almost all of Breakdown, and one electric pop on t8.
11/04/93 O'Connell Center, University of Florida Gainesville FL 2 CDR notes   Oh man, what a show! It doesn't take much more than thirty seconds for the show to start rocking real hard, and it's great the whole way through. The sound is great, although there's a little distortion/static at points. Nothing bad. The only problem is there's a little too much time between songs, but I can live with that.
04/23/99 Docks Hamburg Germany 2 SHN notes   Absolutely delightful! Not only is this a great show with some beautiful musicianship, but the covers of old songs and a few old bluegrass tunes just shows how multifaceted this band can be. And aside from a second or two of static at the end of Lucille, the sound is flawless.
06/16/99 Gund Arena Cleveland OH 2 CDR notes   Very nice audience recording, and a fun show.

06/16/04 Telluride Conference Center Mountain Village CO 2 CDR notes   This is a pretty sweet show. Again, perfect sound, and a nice two hour long hootenanny. The end of the second set is especially fine, as far as I'm concerned.
