It should go without saying that I will not pay or charge for trades,
only for the necessary postage. For the right stuff, I am willing to
cover B+P costs.

Please be warned that although being a jerk
will not result in any sort of legal action, I will take steps to warn
others, in the event that I get screwed, not to trade with you in
future.

When you are dealing with me, you should expect the following instructions to arrive in your email:

Live Music Trading Rules
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You're interested in my _______________________.

I'm interested in your ________________________.

Here are the rules I'd like to set okay? :) These rules
are pretty much universal among traders I've dealt with.

(*) If you contacted first, we will use my rules. If I
contacted first, we can use your rules.

(*) You send first. Please include a return envelope,
including enough canadian postage for me to send
your package to you. If you are not in Canada, and
are unable to buy canadian postage, we can discuss
other arrangements.

(*) Please remain in contact throughout the trade, even
if just to tell me how the weather is where you are.

(*) Since I am not in this for profit or for some type of
"status" among music traders, there shall be no money
paid or taken, save for postage, and all discs shall
be traded one-for-one. (1DVD=1DVD / 1CD=1CD)

(*) Please DO NOT send me MP3s or MP3-sourced audio. If
sending compressed files, please use only lossless
formats such as FLAC, APE or SHN. Of course,
uncompressed AIFF or WAV files are fine too,
providing they fit on on agreed-upon number of discs.

(*) Please use quality name-brand cd-r's. Using "no-name"
or store-brand discs can produce interesting coasters
for your coffee table, but is not recommended for
archiving.

(*) When burning/copying discs, please burn using
disc-at-once (DAO), not track-at-once (TAO) and at a
slow speed like 4x or 8x maximum. This will guard
against errors such as gaps, skips or clicks which
commonly occur when burning at higher speeds.
If unclear on the benefits of DAO vs TAO, read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_disc_authoring

(*) Finally, please include: lineage/generation/source
info, and track titles.
Do not write anything on the
disc. Use a separate note instead.

When I receive your disc in the agreed condition, I will
send yours. I shall follow these rules, or the rules set
forth at the beginning of the trade.

Re: digital trades...
I don't have a high-speed connection. I use a DSL equivalent to ISDN-speed. My top downloading speed is 16 kilobytes per second and have a bandwidth cap from my ISP... Please consider using snail-mail instead :) It's cheaper than my bandwidth overage charges, and I don't mind waiting.

1 CD-R (flac C A MZ-RH10 + HD-MiniDisc > USB > WAV > SHN and FLAC Considering that the performance kind of blew, the sound quality is actually fairly nice; but again, the show kind of blew due to too much distortion and a squeaky vocalist.

Olympic Island
Toronto, ON
1 CD-R (flac) A B- Sony ECM-MS907 > Sony MD MZ-NF810 (LP2) > Sony Soundforge 7.0 > CD wav split > WAV > FLAC (Level 8) A little of the "wavy" effect that is common to outdoor recordings, yet surprisingly clear. Good drum kick, clear vocals and guitars. Some EQ tweaking will be needed to minimize the low end.

2 CD-R (redbook) A B DAT > CS 7pin/coax > M-Audio CO3 > THX coax > Teac CD burner > CD > WAV > FLAC > BitTorrent > WAV > REMASTER/EDIT > CD A very good listening-quality set here. This is my custom 2-CD compilation of the sound check and the main show (dreyfuss version). Disc 1 ends with 'Gave Up'. Disc 2 begins with 'Eraser', where the curtained projection part of the show began. The only modifications are increased gain (no clipping though) and fades.

1 CD-R (flac) A A Nice quality. The singer disapproves of "slamming" and stops the show momentarily to 'discuss' this with the audience, hehe.

The Parish House Of Blues
New Orleans, LA
1 CD-R (flac) B B- MZ-R10 > USB > XPS M140 > SonicStage 3.3 > Wav > CDWav > Flac (6) Great audio quality for most of the set. Something weird going on in track 3, where there's some mic interference/obstruction and the volume very briefly falls. Once it recovers, the rest of the set is like you're there :)

11/06/01

Memorial Coliseum
Portland, OR
2 CD-R (flac) A+ A+ AT825/Sony TCD-D8 (speech mode) > U2a > WAV > CDR >FLAC Over 2 hours long and sounds AMAZING. Occasional low-end distortion and audience banter, but otherwise a great AUD of a great show.

05/21/02

Columbiahalle
Berlin, Germany
1 CD-R(FLAC) A+ A/B OKM-IIr > Casio DAT/32kHz > 1st Gen DAT Master (resampled to 44kHz) > WAV > FLAC Great performance, low crowd, and well balanced in general. All that and Tick and Leeches, too! NOTE: there's a period of REALLY low volume in the middle bc the band was showing the new-@-the-time video for Parabol(a)... Since the band played the song directly prior to that, it's a bit superfluous and I find myself always skipping past that track.

Empire Polo Field
Indio, CA
1 CDR (flac) A B Master Audience DAT - DPA 4060 (9V BatBox >Line In) > Sony M1 > Maxell 90m DAT @48k A very amusing conversation between the taper and a security guard is heard on Track 8.

05/02/06

Paramount Theater
Seattle, WA
1 CDR (FLAC) A B Gmini 402 --> USB --> CDWave --> FLAC Recording is of high quality, with some intrusive crowd noise (mostly from the same guy it would seem) near the taper.

05/08/06

McFarlin Auditorium
Dallas, TX
1 CDR(FLAC) A B- Master DAT(48) > Sony 59ES > HHB CDR-850 (via Monster Digital Coax) > CDR > EAC[secure] > FLAC [level 8, verify, align on sector boundaries] Good show, but low volume. Crowd noise is present, but not really intrusive. Nice capture.

05/13/06

Auditorium Theatre
Chicago, IL
1 CDR (FLAC) B B Sony Hi MD MZ-M100 (PCM @44100Hz) Features the live debut of 'Right in Two'. Maynard was bothered by a cold / sore throat, so he was low in the mix, so not too noticeable. Some crowd noise. Sounds a bit distant, recorded from balcony.

05/16/06

Hummingbird Centre
Toronto, ON
1 CDR(FLAC) B B Sony D8@48khz > Sony DTC60ES > toslink > M-Audio CO3 > THX coax > Teac CD burner > CD > WAV(via Itunes) > FLAC "Dreyfuss" source. Fairly well balanced.

05/16/06

05/16/06

Hummingbird Centre
Toronto, ON
1 CDR(FLAC) B B- Sony PCM-M1 > MD ( > WAV ???) > FLAC "Toaster" source. Good capture of band, but really annoying people talking all the time.

06/28/06

Le Zénith
Paris, France
2 CDr A A- Sony MZ-RH10 > sonicstage/WAV/tracks,fades > CDx2 > EAC/FLAC A few bits of crowd noise slightly mar an otherwise awesome capture... Maynard is pretty annoyed by smokers and has a lot to say about it here.
