This is an awesome recording with tremendous historical value. This is a poetry reading from Saint Mark's Church. The quality isn't really that bad. If you're a fan of Patti's early work, you need this.

Good early soundboard recording? Patti sounds a little spaced :)
Levels fluctuate slightly occasionally, but considering the age of the recording, it's quite nice.
There is some nice improvisation in this show.

A good recording considering the age. The levels start a little low, fluctuate through the first two tracks, and then more or less stabilize. Includes the ultra-rare "Jolene". There is a lot of improvisation in this show.
Tiny skips in track 1 at 01:16, 01:23, 1:24, and 1:25 and there appears to be an edit between tracks 1 and 2 and tracks 9 and 10. |

Okay, the quality isn't great. It's a mediocre audience recording from almost three decades ago. But seriously, this shit is pure Patti magic. It's the Cologne Poetry Reading recording. The first track, Dream of Rimbaud, is one of my all-time favorites. All in all, the entire setlist is genius. |

This is not a good recording. It's a fairly crappy audience recording, with some distortion, varying levels, and a good deal of audience noise at points.
That said, it's also a recording of great historical value, as this was the "last" Patti Smith Group show. This is absolutely a serious-fans-only show.
This show is DAO, but track transitions are a little rough, and some have obviously been edited.
The interview at the end of disc 3 is almost 40 minutes long, and it's really a gem in the rough.

Liberated boot "You Haven't Gotten One Thing You Wanted"
Overall quality is quite good, but there are occasionally small volume surges.
This show was on Patti's 55th birthday.
Unreleased Steven
Sebring documentary footage played at the end of intermission, prior to the
second set. This scene is Patti reading with Philip Glass on Piano.
The following edits were made in the source tapes: Disc 1 Track 6 was taken from second source. Disc 1 tracks 5 and 7 were overlapped and edited audience noise was edited to transition cleanly into new Track 6. Disc 1 Track 5 was edited to remove dropout at 0:10-0:12. Disc 2 Track 1 was edited to cover a big
jump in recording level at approximately 4:00 by fading up gradually. Disc 3
Track 5 had applause faded out to cover cut while waiting for encore.
The following problems remain: Disc 1 Track 5: Minor volume surge 0:13-0:14

A really nice audience recording burnt DAO. There's plenty of audience noise, but the show is still clear and extremely enjoyable. The utterly blissful "Ai Yi Ya" is a highlight, and it's quite a rare song this late in their career. It features additional lyrics and a good deal of reworking. It was basically a two-minute intro track to "Sympathy for the Devil" from 1991-1993. Also, "Virtual Reality" has a line from The Who's "Squeeze Box" as an outro. |

This is an awesome show that features the ultra-rare "Devil's Cry". The sound isn't perfect, but it's clear. There is a very slight flanging at times, and although it is DAO, the track transitions are a little rough.

Sadly, this show was burnt TAO. I'm uncertain of the lineage.
This is Tori's Plugged Pay-Per-View Concert. It was filmed 09/24/1999 and aired 02/19/00. The filler tracks on disc 2 are gems and rarities from various sources, both live and studio (good stuff, all). There is a noticeable degradation of quality during track 8 on disc 1. It's isolated to that one track. Overall, quality is decent, but not perfect. This is a great show, it's too bad the quality isn't a little better. |
