I'm currently not trading as I don't have an adequate computer setup to make quality discs. Until that happens, I can't do any trading that involves physical discs. If we're talking upload/download, can do. Until I replace my computer, the next two paragraphs don't apply.
If we agree to a trade, please use good media and good communication. I'm currently using Taiyo Yuden discs.
My preferred trading scenario is to exchange one or more DVDs full of lossless FLAC or SHN files. Or if you're a member of dimeadozen.org, or some other popular live music torrent site, we can conduct a trade by sharing torrents. I will not burn audio cd-rs.
I use a grading system of 1 to 10 for recordings. These are totally subjective ratings, but here's what they mean to me:
10: slap a label on it, and sell it at the store (actually don't, unless you're the artist). It's pristine, warm, and balanced.
9: It's pristine, but either not warm, or not balanced.
8: Enjoyable sound with minor tweaking
7: This is the type of recording that sounds better the longer you listen to it because you can get used to the flaws.
6: Major EQ'ing or filtering required.
5: Almost unsalvageable.
4-1: Beyond the pale.
I'm always looking for more from the following bands: King's X, Built to Spill, Pelican, Brad Mehldau, The Bad Plus, 16 Horsepower, Woven Hand, Kelly Joe Phelps, Over The Rhine, Black Happy, Cat Power, Bruce Cockburn,Gospel-era Dylan, Sam Phillips, alternative Christian Music, African music, and current indie pop/rock that I like (this is an ever-growing list, so try me).
I currently have only 60% of my shows listed here (constantly adding). If you want to do a big trade, I can send an up-to-date Excel file with all my shows listed.
