03/06/2003 - I am on sabbatical from trading for a while. I will update this space when I am ready to begin trading again.

I may be able to do an occasional B&P as well but please don't be offended if I cannot. I will have to limit the number of discs to four (4) per request also.

If you wish to work out a B&P, please visit this site to see how to properly do a B&P before you ask for one: http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/ Please pay particular attention to the part about sending return postage and sending it in the form of STAMPS. Otherwise, you will not receive the discs back. Note that this is not intended for those who I have done B&Ps for in the past who have handled it extremely well. No offense to my friends and fellow traders who live in other countries, but I am only willing to do B&Ps for folks that live in the US because of the difficulty of obtaining the correct postage to return the discs.

One quick note on SHN & FLAC discs--I have tried to list number of audio discs a show will convert to if it is in compressed (SHN or FLAC) format. If there is no conversion, it means the show is the same number of discs in compressed or audio format. However, there may be some mistakes in counts so please understand if I don't have everything completely right yet.

1. 03/30/98 Tokyo Dome - Tokyo, Japan Seeder's Notes: Pro-shot, liberated bootleg (I got it off ebay and wanted to release it to the public). Fairly nice quality. It's clearly transferred from VHS tape, but apart from that, the audio and video is grade A. Great show, great energy, great songs, great bands. 1 DVD

1. ??/??/80 Capital Centre - Landover, MD Seeder's Notes: I downloaded this off EZTree. It was in dire need of remastering, so that's what I did. I fixed up the picture (color correction, lowered the saturation, and made the background true black). The audio was really hurting - the buzz was so loud you'd think there was a large truck with its engine running parked next to one of the mics. I cleaned up about 90% of that nasty noise. All in all, a great show and now at a level of quality that makes it considerably more enjoyable to watch. 1 DVD

10. 11/07/94 The Fillmore - San Francisco, CA "Fillmore Blues Night" (Paddington Records - PADVD-01 - DVD-R1) This first of three performances at San Francisco's Fillmore was filmed by Martin Scorcese's crew in order to help plan out camera moves for the following nights. Shot with a single camera and with (monaural) soundboard audio, this recording has been available to collectors in varying degrees of quality for years but this is the finest we have seen to date. Enhanced even further by a nicely done authoring job, this Paddington release is the definitive visual document of this tasty performance. 1) Motherless Child 2) Malted Milk 3) How Long 4) Kidman Blues 5) County Jail 6) .44 7) Blues Leave Me Alone 8) Standin' Around Crying 9) Hoochie Coochie Man 10) It Hurts Me Too 11) Blues Before Sunrise 12) Third Degree 13) Reconsider Baby 14) Sinner's Prayer 15) Can't Judge Nobody 16) Someday After a While 17) Tore Down 18) Have You Ever Loved a Woman 19) Crosscut Saw 20) Five Long Years 21) Crossroads 22) Groaning the Blues 23) Ain't Nobody's Business 1 DVD

Originally aired once on PBS in 1995. This is a heck of a performance documentary. Lots of good archival footage of the masters. I created the DVD from the PBS's In the Spotlight Documentary on Eric Claptons 1994 blues tour...Directed by Martin Scorcese. There is no commercial release of this tape. This was used for a Scorcese 1996 documentary called "Nothing but the Blues". But that was pulled from circulation ...Clapton felt that Scorcese should have included full performances of his heros (Muddy, Howlin' Wolf, Lowell Fuson, more on Robert Johnson) and would not release this to the general public. It is in LPCM audio format (from a MTS Stereo Broadcast) 1 DVD

I would contend, and others have agreed, that this is the best version insofar as audio and video quality are concerned. It also contains an interview with Pat prior to the broadcast of the concert. 4. 10/??/68 Unknown - London, England Seeder's Notes: T. Palmer filmed 3 takes of "Controls" for his "All My Loving" series. - Exact date is not known, October 1968 is very likely, but unconfirmed - Exact location is not known: definitely not the tabernacle, more likely a water sewage place in eastern London torn down since. This torrent contains 3 untouched "rushes" that were on the reels plus one version that was edited together from the 3. The other files are necessary to give your dvd a simple menu. 1 DVD
5. 04/14/69 Royal Festival Hall - London, UK A gift to the DaD community from Harvested Records : ) This is about 20 mins of b/w footage shot at the Royal Festival Hall by Anthony Stern (it sez so right there on the opening slate). It seems that Stern was called earlier that day by the band to shoot this amazing and unique performance. Unfortunately, he didn't go through all the proper channels, and only got permission from the RFH to shoot the rehearsals and only in certain areas of the venue. This becomes apparent when the venue's security "busts" him and orders him to turn over all of his equipment. This all takes place while the camera is still rolling, but with audio only! You can hear the escalating dialogue between Anthony and security/management as he pleads his case. Too bad he didn't go through the proper channels and pay for the rights to film the actual show, as he was evidently prepared to do, but at least we have this incredible rehearsal footage to marvel at. That's the story I heard and this is how I pieced this thing together. Maybe a phone call to Mr. Stern would clear things up. I'll get back with an update if he does. There is also current speculation that the actual performance was filmed as well (quoted recently by Roger Waters). A BIG thanks to Simon, who turned this footage over to me recently. It seems that the last bit (Rick playing the final part of ASoS of the huge house pipe organ) was outta synch, but I was able to fix that properly. Other songs include Biding My Time (with Rick briefly on trombone), Green is the Color, Cymbaline, and ASoS... all incomplete but still wonderful to watch! 1 DVD

The audience track was reduced by 6dB. The result is a clear, rich recording with stereo separation. Surround tracks: Center channel: mono soundboard. Left/right front: board/audience matrix, audience reduced by 8dB. Left/right rear: audience recording only, reduced by 6dB. I found that running the rears at full volume overpowered the fronts. The result – to my ears - is a rich, clear, full, “front-row” sound experience. Clear music in front, ambiance and fullness around you. Watch this disc on a good surround system if you can – loud! Playing the surround version on a standard TV or through 2-channel stereo may not sound as good as the stereo tracks. Technical stuff: DVD ripped to MPEG using Acala DVD Ripper DVD audio ripped to WAV using DVD Audio Ripper Original audience master recording transferred to WAV via Soundblaster card using Adobe Audition 1.5. Sound matrix and multichannel mixing using Adobe Audition 1.5. Video editing and audio synchronization using Sony Vegas 6.0. Video chapters and audio rendering using Sony Vegas to AC3. DVD menus and authoring using Sony DVD Architect 3. Unfortunately, no source is 100% complete. The video is missing the first 30 seconds or so, and is patched using stills and other video clips. The soundboard audio is missing the entire first song (Cubano Chant intro) and about half of Aja. This is covered by putting the audience recording into all the channels. The soundboard (and full surround recording) fades in slowly during the sax solo of Aja. It is a smooth transition, not jarring at all. But keep in mind that you won’t get the full audience/board matrix experience until the middle of Aja. At the beginning of the second half of the show, a few seconds of the first song, “The Steely Dan Show” is missing. My audience recording of this song is missing the first minute or so. The audience portion fades in slowly and gently. Once again, no full matrix experience until partway into the first song of the second disc. 2 DVD

7. ??/??/83 Various Clips Collection #3 - Various, Various Seeder's Notes: The level of the original audio on the second half of the Late Night Rehearsal video was very very low. I needed to punch the audio level at least 20 db. You'll hear where this happens, because the sound turns quite thin about half way through the video clip. Sorry, but that's how it is on the source tape and rather than leaving the levels so low that it was barely audible, I decided that it's better to hear the thin sound at the punched levels. Thanks to elsotos for the Little Wing footage. Many of you may have already downloaded this clip from Dime, but I included it in this collection so it wouldn't be a stand-alone by itself on a DVD. Also, thanks to Roope for the upgrade of the broadcast clip of Tightrope from Late Night. I had a copy, but mine wasn't as good as the one Roope included in his 'SRV TV Appearances 1985-1990' video that was seeded on Dime. Stevie's Chicago Blues Festival performance was a short, but very powerful performance. A video of the performance has been gathering dust because the 'ear bleed' audio on the video made it unlistenable. However, the recent seeding of an FM performance of the show has enabled me to mix the high quality audio to the video. While the result won't win an academy award, I was so excited to experience the first results after mastering this up. The mixing of these two sources has truly breathed an incredible life into this performance, at least to my eyes and ears. By having both the visual and audio to simultaneously assault our senses, we get a better sense of Stevie's performance on that night...and, in my opinion, it was just HUGE! On a technical note, this video isn't the best quality for the eyes. However, the FM copy makes it really nice on the ears. If you're seasoned at watching amateur video's or interested in catching one of Stevie's really great night, then by all means download this because there's not all that many video's that truly capture Stevie in this form...El Mocambo comes to mind. I don't want to imply that this video compares to El Mo, but many folks will understand when I say that sometimes even poor video's can still enlighten and enthrall when you look past the imperfections and soak up the performance value alone. You can do this so much easier now that the nice audio is synched to the below average video. So, with that preamble, if I could offer a somewhat biased suggestion, if you do consider yourself remotely to be a Stevie purist, then I think you'll really enjoy this video in spite of its warts. There were times in Stevie's life where his presense and performance were not to be denied and, frankly, I think that Stevie's incredible performance cuts right through all of the warts of this video. I've included DVD artwork with this torrent in both regular and thinline versions (My DVD collection is getting large and I'm becoming partial to the thinline DVD cases.) If possible, I'd like that the artwork remain integral with the DVD, since I designed the artwork to be consistent with the DVD design. This video was a huge undertaking. I've had this video in my collection for many years now and it's never seen the light of day because the audio quite literally hurt the ears. Several months ago, this FM recording surfaced and I set it in my mind to mix the FM with the video. This is my first try at this and little did I know and understand the challenges of such an undertaking! However, it was a fun project and a true labor of love. The results, while imperfect, do resurrect a truly dead video from a short, but MONSTER show. As you'll see, this video is from a hand-held camera from fairly close in the audience. For some reason, the taper cut the tape fairly often but mostly between songs and the tape never stopped rolling for long. The majority of the performance is captured. Over the years, I upgraded my copy of the show twice, but this copy is still a good number of generations down from the master. If anyone has a better copy, please contact me. There were several major challenges to creating a fairly seamless video. By far the biggest was synching the video to the FM audio. First, the video as mentioned was barely listenable, so it was really difficult to figure out exactly what Stevie was playing and when...and then get it synched properly. This was especially challenging on this video because the video is old and has some gens in the lineage, so the tape speed changed ever so slightly in the generational copying from VHS to VHS tape due to tape stretch. Then, since there were many cuts in the video, I had to figure out what to do with the cuts. I ran one version of the DVD where I filled the cuts with screen shots from the VH1 Legends show. This was cool, but it disrupted the visual experience a bit. I ended up electing to recycle some of the video during the cuts. So, watch closely and you'll see the five or so places (ranging in duration from 15 seconds to 52 seconds) during the DVD where I did this...obviously, you can tell those places because the video will not be synched with the audio. However, I think the final result was the best option. It turned out quite nice and provides a continuity of viewing that preserves the feel of the show without interruptions. I felt that to be a high priority because, even though the video isn't great on its own, combining these two together, as mentioned at the beginning, really brought an incredible life to this performance. There was one audio cut in the FM-source tape at the end of 'Say What', so there are a few seconds of silence. The beginning of the video also included some footage that isn't on the audio, so the beginning of the DVD has 15 seconds of silence before the sound kicks in. 1 DVD

29. 08/28/88 Chastain Park - Atlanta, GA Seeder's notes: This is not a complete gig, as the video starts with "Say What". Gspot info: Video mpeg2 4300 kbps, 29.97 fps 720x480 resolution Audio AC3 256 kbps Got this one from a trade a while ago. I don't exactly know the source, but it looks to me this is transferred directly from aud master tape ... if not, definately from a low gen source. Tripod shot, and audio is good too (likely external mics used). My DVD copy was made with a stanalone recorder and had about 25 minutes of blank screen at the end of the disc. I cut that out and reauthored the disc with TMPGEnc DVD Author (proper chapters and a simple menu). 1 DVD

1. 12/06/83 CHCH Studios - Hamilton, ON Seeder's Notes: "This is taken from two 1/2 hour Canadian TV broadcasts. It's different footage than the audio corresponding to the commercial CD that was released a few years ago. I have no idea from whom I obtained this many years ago but I've had it in my collection for a long time and it's about time to finally archive it digitally because it's a low generation copy...I'm thinking it's one off of the master that someone got straight from TV. I'm sorry that it's taken so long to get this seeded because I've seen other much lower quality versions of this traded around for many years." 1 DVD
