1. 05/06/08 Museo dell'Ara Pacis - Rome, Italy A- Brian Eno- Music for Ara Pacis, 6 May 2008 Nine years on from their first collaboration (`I Dormienti` in the undercrofts of the London Roundhouse), Brian (muisc) and Mimmo Paladino (installation, sculptures) have again joined forces for a collaborative project at Rome's Museo dell'Arra Pacis. It runs from 11th March to 11th May. Here is an audience recording, ipietri, a bright star in the Eno universe, sound wizzard and a good friend too has managed to visit the very installation and succesfully make a wonderful recording. Quality wise top notch!!!! He asked me to upload this on his behalf and I feel honored (and happy to regain some of my reputation as some sort of `Eno pope` (or geek or whatsoever ;-)...). Since I didn`t take Enos advice for slower and better thinking and made a remark at the `Nerve Net Forum` which lost me lots of sympathies there I want to repair some of the bad karma I have earned: People! Buy all of Eno`s records, he is a genius! Buy his books, dvds too and visit his installations, he is a great and gifted artist. O.K.: here is, what ipietri wrote about the very recording (again thanks and all spots on him!!!!): ``as promised here's my recording inside the Ara Pacis in Rome I made it yesterday afternoon with Core Sound Binaurals mic + Marantz PMD620 recorder edited with Steinberg Wavelab and HarBal 2.3 no cuts in the recording, it's a 1 hour visit walking in the installation... including some (rare) visitor chatting... rare and not annoying easily the reference recording from the installation :-)) I suggest you don't play it loud...it really works as a background... it's playing now in my office and nobody is protesting :-)))`` ************************************************************************************************ [2008-05-23]Didn't find this a multiple listen tape   1 FLAC notes

1. 03/06/04 Center for New Music and Audio Technology - Berkeley, CA A- Debashish and Subashish Bhattacharya March 6, 2004 Center for New Music and Audio Technology (CNMAT) University of California, Berkeley 1750 Arch St., Berkeley, CA Debashish Bhattacharya - 24 string Chaturangui guitar, 14 string Ghamdavri guitar and Anandi slide ukulele Subashish Bhattacharya - tabla Recorded and mastered to cdr by Easy Ed. soundboard > Sony PCM-R500 DAT > coax digital out > Sek'd Prodif Plus soundcard > Sound Forge > CD Architect > cdr > EAC > FLAC level 8 encoding align on sector boundaries Debashish announces the titles of the pieces but I couldn't understand them. This was an evening concert in a small room that seated about 50 people. The concert was the culmination of a day of workshops that Debashish had given about Indian music. 1750 Arch St. was the former location of 1750 Arch Studio, where the first David Grisman Quintet album was recorded in 1976 (Kaleidescope Records K-5) This is meditative music that deserves to listened to with concentration, not as background music. In terms of recording quality, I consider it stunning. I suggest that you isten to it over your best playback system and when you can listen to at least an entire cd in a single sitting. Included in the torrent are a pdf cd booklet and cd tray, jpg full-face cd art, and photos from the show, all by Easy Ed. Please visit http://www.debashishbhattacharya.com/ From Debashish's website: "In India 'Chatu' means 4 (four), and 'Ang' means attribute. Chaturangui means a Guitar with additional blend of four tones. This is a 24 stringed first hollow neck Indian Classical Guitar. It blends the tone of Rudra Veena, Sarode, Sitar and Violin. All the Classical guitars of Debashish have Front Chikari and are being played by index not with a thumb. There is one western version of this guitar and one Indian model. The Ghamdavri is a fourteen-string guitar, simply different from it's other family members. This is a completely new tone that has been created by Debashish. The tone is cosmic. Gandharvi relates the music with Gandharva loka. The sound of this unique Guitar portrays the beauty of the Goddess of the Gandharva. The blend of the instruments are in particular South Indian Veena, Santoor and Western Classical Guitar. The third is the slide form of an Ukulele. After a serious raga rendition Debashish has been often asked by audiences in his country and abroad for a lighter form of music. For their entertainment here is the exotic sound to cast a cathartic effect. ANANDI signifies 'Always Joy of Music." [2008-06-06]I attended a concert in April 2008 at Montalvo and this recording is a good representation of his style of playing. Well worth a listen.   2 FLAC notes

1. 09/03/88 Hart Plaza - Detroit, MI B John McLaughlin- guitar Jonas Hellborg- bass Trilok Gurtu- drums and percussion Hart Plaza Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. September 3, 1988 performance quality: A- recording quality: A source: master FM broadcast tape lineage: WGBH FM radio > Yamaha RX-500U reciever > Naka. BX- 100 cassette deck (dolby off) > Maxell XLII-S cassette > played on Naka. 125 into soundforge 4.5 (to WAV) > FLAC 6 > torrent. setlist: 1: florianapolis 2: are you the one? 3: mother tongues 4: ? comments: this show has been upped twice recently on dime already, so why a third time? Well, this one comes from an edited WGBH broadcast of what may include the 1st 2 songs of the show. One upload, from Ricola, seems to be the second part of the concert. There was another longer version of lesser quality (some FM interference) that is missing a chunk of the beginning also. This one only runs about 52 minutes, and is the complete edited version broadcast on WGBH several months (maybe a few years?) after the concert. Tracks 1 and 2 seem to be complete and unedited from start to end, and so too tracks 3 and 4, but there seems to be an edit between tracks 2 and 3 in the broadcast. It opens with John saying thanks for waiting and commenting about the rain. I did not hear that in either of the previous uploads of this show. MAYBE now we have it all. There may be one or two flaws in this recording, but it's basically a clean recording and all four of these tracks are not interrupted. I have some other McLaughlin uploads to offer which are on the way soon but this is my only FM master of McLaughlin (except for 1 song by Shakti) and it is a good show. I do NOT know if Florianapolis is the 1st song of this concert, but I am fairly familiar with Mclaughlin shows of this era and that would be a believable opening song. John does not play exactly the same set each night on a tour with this trio, but not much variation of setlist, more so in a longer set. A typical set of this trio is about 90-100 minutes. This may be 2 shows. the length seems quite long for just a 1 show situation with this band, but none of these 3 posts have mention of any "second set" that I heard. The songs in here are among the best in this nice long show (s?). I'm not sure, but I think between this and the Ricola post, it is most or maybe even all of this concert, both being in better sound quality than the longer version with FM static. (not terrible but noticable in that other longer one). I think it's worth the upgrade, although it's hardly perfect piecing together, it is an upgrade, this winds up being a glasnostrd19/ricola collaberation production (if that's OK with Ricola that is) to get this show at least completER than before, if not completely complete, and partly in a better quality at least part of the show not included in the Ricola version. Enjoy, John season is just around the corner.............................................................................. Do not sell this recording. Trade freely and losslessly. [2008-03-24]Not very interesting - too much percussian focus - definitely has that FM-ish sound quality.   0 FLAC notes

[06:52] Walk The Dog MD5/FLAC Fingerprints: Notes: I got this show direct from the taper. I think I only ever made one analog copy back in the day, for the only other Laurie Anderson fan I knew at the time, which turned out to be a great stroke of luck. I've always wanted to transfer and seed this show, but I despaired at having lost the second cassette, which held the end of the show. I hated the idea of not being able to present the whole thing. Turns out there was a happy ending after all. Source 1 is a first gen cassette, roughly 90 minutes' worth. Source 2 is a second gen cassette, and provides the last three tracks, about 15 minutes. My 1st gen tape 2 (which contained those last three tracks) was stolen by a certain blighter (you know who you are, you BLIGHTER!) who wanted the Pink Floyd filler (11-16-74, which in those days was an exceptionally great sounding PF recording). Alert Dime member dadoun to the rescue! dadoun still had his 2nd gen cassettes that I had copied for him 23 years ago, so finally I was able to do a transfer of the entire show. Interestingly, dadoun and I had lost touch with each other for over 20 years. We reconnected quite recently. Can you guess how? Via Dime! Man, is this place great or what? So without Dime, we would not have a complete recording of this show. Extra-special thanks to dadoun, who provided the 2nd gen source, the setlist and helped me with the tracking. He also had the priviledge of seeing this show. He is a gentleman, a scholar and a genuine Laurie Anderson aficionado. Here are a few of his observations about this show: "A couple of comments about the show through my dim memory of all those years ago. In the opening binary rap vocoder monologue, Laurie was dressed up in bandages like Nash the Slash, she also did the flashlight in the mouth bit. Throughout the show there were quite a few back projections and other effects (for example the cartoon elements from the cover of Mister Heartbreak were animated on a back projection during the performance of Sharkey's Day) and I think at least one of the percussion pieces was actually a solo by the fabulous David Van Tieghem. "The violin pieces were also a little out of the ordinary - earlier she was well known for her experiments with tape-bow violin (Laurie collectors will probably know "Ethics is the Aesthetics of the Future"), this violin was the next stage - no strings and no tape head, but an actuator that triggered the playback of a sound file with the bow and fingering controlling the speed and pitch of the playback. There was actually a techie on stage after the show whose principal job seemed to be answering questions about the equipment and technology. "I've seen a number of Laurie Anderson shows since but this was my first and the only one that totally blew my mind, a really classic performance in the tradition of "great American humor" that was way ahead of its time ... " There are various minor flaws; odd cuts, tape flips, mic bumping noises, fades, static, and a little oversaturation here and there. The first minute or so is monaural, due to a loose mic cable. One channel was silent until the taper corrected the problem, so I used the good channel to fill in the silence and make for a slightly better listening experience. There is some static during Sharkey's Day -- it sounds like a digital artefact, but it's not. It's on my 1st gen cassette, and I believe it's on the master as well. There's a nasty cut toward the end of Sharkey's Night. I inserted a little cross-fade to make it more tolerable. As Adrian Belew said of her Laurie-ness, "she has the cutest little . . . dimples!" Check samples before downloading! [2008-02-15]Big fan of Laurie's. Sa a show at the Beacon around this time - my memory said it came across better than this one - but setlist etc were similar.   2 FLAC notes

[2008-03-03]recording is very good considering the time etc. Second show of the evening - supposedly this is the best tape from the US tour of League of Gentleman. This is not on my "keep" list. Those unfamiliar with Mr. Reich's work have here a crash course in it. This program is from a Radio Nederland 7.5 IPS (19 CMPS) 1/4-inch reel-to-reel tape. Despite the fact that it's a dupe (not a master), meant for distribution to radio stations and that it's 29 years old, it doesn't sound too bad at all. The analytical narrations which occur before each track have been separated so that you can listen to the performance either with or without them. (You might not want to drive or operate machinery while listening to this program).
