It was a cold and damp night, and the rather slow paced first set didn't do a lot to liven the evening for me. Things picked up the second half though. I thought some of the songs, like "San Jacinto" sounded better with the orchestra, but on others I must admit, I did miss the rock band element a bit. Highlights for me were "Signal To Noise", "Downside Up" and "Intruder". The venue wasn't full. The lawn area was completely closed off, and there were many empty seats. I'm guessing the high ticket prices may have kept some away. The Recording came out very nice.I recorded Ane Brun's opening set too (included as "bonus tracks"), but her first song was completely ruined by the women sitting next to me carrying on a conversation. Luckily, they didn't chat at all through Peter's set, as crowd noise is minimal. Only real issue is that I forgot to switch my iPhone to silent mode and you can hear the "bing" of me getting a text message at the beginning of "Father Son". There is another spot between songs when you can hear another iPhone bing, but that wasn't from my phone. Otherwise, the recording sounds very nice. |
