| Notes | Not from the bootleg "Blind River in 1962" NOTES ON THIS CD: During the summer of 1976, Neil Young and Stephen Stills formed the Stills- Young Band and began touring. An album, Long May You Run, had already been recorded and would be released in September. Stephen had also just released the solo, illegal Stills in March. The tour lasted only 26 days and 18 performances before Young walked out. Some of those performances were inspirational with searing guitar work not found on the album, More than half of the 45 songs performed were unreleased at the time but only five would appear on Long May You Run. This show, Providence, was the longest of the tour? 23 songs. It includes the only performance of Midnight On The Bay and two Stills' songs Circlin' and Tree Top Flyer which were only performed twice during the entire tour. The crowd was rowdy? during Neil's Midnight On The Bay, after firecrackers go off, he stops and warns the audience and at one point, before beginning Word Game, Stills waits and finally says, "When you're through, I'll play.? This is an audience recording mastered from tape. The first two songs played, Love The One You're With and The Loner were not on the tape. As bonus tracks, there are 3 songs from the 6/26 show at the Boston Garden including The Loner, a Young song which Stills had covered on Illegal Stills and, as a rarity, takes lead vocal. After Young walks off. Stephen continued the tour renaming it the 'Stills Fills The Bill' tour promoting his solo album. He'd walk on stage and announce that Neil Young was not there? "if you're going to leave, leave now". |
