| Notes | Brian Eno- Installation recording Bonn 1998 'Future Light Lounge Proposal' version 2 a Brian Eno audio recording of the 'Future Light Lounge Proposal' installation (Germany, Bonn Kunsthalle 1998). Time: 66:31 minutes Record source: audio tape < trade CD < .wav < flac Sound quality is roughly 8,5 / 10. The music itself is very minimal, the installation was placed in a small basement room, barely lid by few glowing objects (slowly changing colours) and a trapeze screen on which slides were projected from the back (on the recording you can sometimes here the clicking sound of the slide projectors). The music came from different CD players (each one containing different tracks and permanently shuffeling), creating peranently different music and a different atmosphere. I have to admit that I choose this recording for sentimental reasons. I visited this installation 3 times, each time there was a totally different vibe and I knew for sure, this very music and very vibe will only be there for THIS VERY MOMENT. I remember sitting there for hours, time seemed to move slowlier in there and I felt so guarded and cosy. It was very intense and I saw many people entering and leaving very fast (I was under the impression that many people are unable to stand this minimal surrounding for a while). It's interesting, I have been at 3 ENO installations and each time I feel the same. It's like being kept in a perfect moment/space you never want to leave again. Another reason why I chose this recording is to cover as many facets in ENO's work as possible, and his installations are indeed an important part. Of course an audio recording cannot capture the full impact since the visuals are missing. But I hope you like this. This text is from the promotional flyer handed out at the museum: Brian explains: "I want to make places that feel like music. I want to make things which are like music for the eyes. I want to extend music out into space, into the 3 dimensions of space, and into colour. I want to make the kind of art that would be found in the kind of world I would like to live in. Can you create a world by suggesting the objects and experiences that would belong in it? Is this the way we move into our futures, casting little hooks forward and then pulling ourselves along by them?" Enjoy and help seeding after the download. More ENO will follow soon |
