Recording Notes - A one off stop at the this year's Triptych festival, in the beautiful surroundings of the Usher Hall. A great crowd, very respectful (as crowds get..) and attentive and great acoutics to match a fine performance by mogwai. Changed discs in the break.

Show Notes - A fine, fine performance by mogwai, one of the best I've seen. Very loud in places too, and they made full use of the acoustics with an excellent stereo mix. My friend had to leave during "2 Rights" due to the intensity of the rumbling bass. For those who wish to experience this, a version with no bass roll-off is available on request.

Editing - I didn't have much of a clue as to what I was doing, as this was my first time recording with this equipment. Subsequently, the recording had very
low levels and no bass roll-off. I therefore applyed a bass filter at 120Hz in the post-recording editing, and boosted the levels by 10db. As the levels boost revealed a lot of background hiss, I applyed a dehiss algorithim. Not ideal, but I felt it a necessary trade-off in this case. Editing also reveled I'd set the levels higher for the second mini-disc, which sounds a bit louder. I kept this inconsistency, as it allowed me to bring up the volume to more audible levels on the second disc.

Tech details - Fades, tracks, +10db and splits in Audacity
Bass roll off at 120Hz and dehiss in Sonicstage Mastering Studio.
- For Disc 1, dehiss set at level 13
- For Disc 2, dehiss set at level 2 and +6.2db.

Overall - In the end, it still sounds quiet and on attention you'll hear noise/hiss, but I think in moments it sounds glorious.
