When disc two surfaced, it contained a "House Announcer" track at the beginning (before "Maggie M'Gill"). Since announcers don't generally come on during the middle of a concert nor does one appear in the middle of the concert on the official soundboard recording released by Bright Midnight, I placed the house announcer track at the beginning of the first disc. Though the announcer seems to mention The Doors and Morrison's name (it's hard to tell exactly what's being said), it may be from an announcement made before one of the opening bands took stage (The Staples Singers and The Blues Image opened the show that night). As mentioned, there has been an official release of the soundboard recording of this show, but it's missing some dialogue from Jim in between tracks as well as the complete house announcer's introduction. (Portions were edited directly off of the master tapes when The Doors live albums were being compiled.) It's hard to say just how much is missing because this audience recording has a few tape stops between songs. This recording is also missing "Roadhouse Blues" which was the first song performed. Note: The original transfer has been speed-corrected to match the official "Live In Philadelphia" release as closely as possible. The resulting speed difference was about 2-2.5% (faster). |
