| Tech Notes | Johnny Cash Manhattan Center (now known as Hammerstein Ballroom) 09 June 1994 46 minutes Filmed in Black & White ProShot NTSC DVD Source: Acquired bootleg DVD This wonderful and rarely seen concert comes from a bootleg DVD acquired in Germany last year in a cheap bookstore, out of all places. The bootleg's title is "The Beast In Me - Live in New York 1994", and it contains no further info regarding the exact location, date etc. After a little digging I can confirm that the above details are correct, and that this set was probably shot for broadcast at VH1 at the time. There's no channel logo stamp here or any other identifyers. Also, the end credits have been pasted over. The whole thing was shot in B&W and it gives a special and personal insight into the early days of Cash's American Recordings era. As this footage was never officially released, I thought it was about time to let more people enjoy this gem. The video quality is awesome, probably a very early generation copy of the master. Screenshots follow in the comments below. Originally the DVD contained also some officially released bonus tracks from the 50's and 60's - sorry folks, I had to remove these in order to keep in line with DIME's Policy. The Menu and chaptering come courtesy of the bootleg company who shall remain nameless. They got my 10 Euros for this DVD and though I received some real value for my money - they shouldn't make any more from it. Enjoy this little piece of music history. God bless Johnny Cash. 1.
