Tech Notes "NOTES:

This was my second time in attendance at an I Like Trains gig. I had enjoyed
last November's gig at the Paradiso enough to consider it worth driving the
forty-odd kilometres to Utrecht to see the band again in January.

It was a dismal evening, pouring with rain. I didn't want to leave the house,
which isn't unusual for me, but the knowledge that I usually come back from a
gig happy that I went spurred me on to go out the door.

The support band, from Belgium, were better than their name: Kiss The Anus Of
A Black Cat. If I Like Trains seems like a frivolous moniker, theirs is
positively daft.

Unfortunately, they came on late, played late and spent a long time getting
their gear off the stage. In fact, they took so long that members of I Like
Trains had to pitch in as roadies to expedite the clearing of the stage.

This basic mistake in the scheduling turned out to be unfortunate for all
concerned. The band played a good but short set, comprising just ten songs and
coming in at a tad over fifty minutes (a good twenty minutes shy of their
recent performance in Amsterdam, for example).

After the show, David conceded that they should have taken the stage earlier
and played a longer set. Oh well. It's spilt milk now. There will be other
gigs.

The sound was also a little iffy to my ears, particularly during the first
song, when the vocals were too low in the mix. It could have just been my ears
adjusting to the volume, however.

As usual, I'm releasing this recording free of any well-intentioned tinkering.
The sound is good and a faithful reproduction of the show, but it's not up to
the standard of my November Paradiso recording.

Enjoy!"
