With more than a dozen No. 1 singles, three multi-platinum albums and 28 industry honors to his name, superstar Alan Jackson returned to Austin City Limits for a full hour of hard core country music during Season 20.
Known for wearing a white hat and playful, boyish grin, Jackson didn't set out to be a country music star. A former auto mechanic and salesman, the Newnan, Georgia native is just as happy under the hood of a car or out on the lake in his speedboat as he is in front of an audience.
A gifted performer, Jackson is backed by his six man band The Strayhorns. Critics around the country praise his relaxed, sincere on-stage manner and unhinged musical energy.

02 - Bleed the Freak
03 - Social Parasite
04 - We Die Young

08 - The Real Thing
09 - Killing Yourself
10 - Sea of Sorrow
11 - I Can't Remember

Each track on the original bootleg CD was recorded at too fast of a speed.
To correct this, I compared the version of Social Parasite from this compilation
against the one released in the Music Bank set since they both are from the same
source. By time-stretching the version from "Sweet Alice" by a factor of 1.0511,
I was able to match the timing of the Music Bank version. I then applied this
time-stretching factor to all other tracks ... they sound much better.
Enjoy!

Even before he steps out onto the stage, the audience is on its feet clapping and screaming for Barry Manilow. Walking out and launching into "Could It Be Magic?" Manilow proves his pipes are as strong and clear as ever and his suits still dapper. He promises "beautiful melodies, passionate lyrics, great grooves, and maybe even some swiveling hips" to the delight of the sold-out house. Recorded in Nashville in February 2000 and includes half an hour of footage not included in the Direct TV broadcast. |

From VH1 Episode Guide:
The Bee Gees performed their hits in stripped-down fashion and told the stories behind them, demonstrating why they are the fifth most successful recording artists of all time. They joked with each other as only brothers can do, shared personal anecdotes, and performed their biggest hits and personal favorites. They took the audience back over a stellar 30-year career, performing songs like "Gotta Get a Message to You," "Jive Talkin,'" and "Stayin' Alive."
Robin Gibb revealed that one of their early hits, "To Love Somebody," was written for Otis Redding to sing. "He wanted to do it, but unfortunately didn't get to because he died in a plane crash," Gibb recalled.
The brothers also discussed their short-lived break-up in 1970. "We came back together and went to a studio," Barry said. "We didn't know whether we were going to be a group again -- it was all sort of up in the air. What we did that night will last forever for us." He went on to reveal that that night they wrote two Bee Gee classics: "Lonely Days" and "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart."
The Bee Gees touched on their "Saturday Night Fever" success and how "Stayin' Alive," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Night Fever," "If I Can't Have You," and "More Than A Woman" were written in a two-week period while they were stuck in a French chalet with nowhere to go. They performed hits they wrote for other singers, including "Islands in the Stream" and "Heartbreaker." |

"WE FOUND IT IN THE TRASHCAN, HONEST!"
Q. I have a bootleg album called "We Found It In The Trashcan, Honest!",
which appears to be early demos of the songs from the first BOSTON album.
What's the story here?
A. Those are the infamous homemade recordings Tom Scholz made in his basement
c. 1973-1975, which he then shopped around to various record companies. After
securing the contract with CBS, the songs on the demos were ALL RE-RECORDED.
Tom played all musical instruments except drums (which were played by Jim Masdea)
and Brad Delp sang all vocals.
The song list is:
01 Rock N Roll Band
02 Life Isn't Easy [early version of "Something About You"]
03 More Than A Feeling
04 Don't Be Afraid Of Love
05 Peace Of Mind
06 San Francisco Day [early version of "Hitch A Ride"].
Incidentally, Tom claims that these tapes were NOT found in a traschcan; rather,
they were stolen from Scholz.

Notes:
Great show which was broadcasted in 25 countries and this particular recording is from some Polish radio or something, there are one or two station ads during the show, but only in between songs. It certainly doesn't take away from the show.
Bryan and the band are really having a good time on stage this night. Touch The Hand as it is played here is an amazing live track. Shame they don't play it anymore these days. Chatting with the audience is fun, certainly when a guy is invited on stage to sing Summer Of '69. He gets a beer from Bryan afterwards ;)
Soundquality is good as it is an FM recording, although Heaven seems to be from another source (but also SBD).

Even though there are a couple analog generations
on this one, this is easily the best sounding DEVO
boot that I've heard. The only modifications I did
was a slight hiss reduction in soundforge.

I don't have any other info on the source of this show other than the fact that it is supposedly a soundboard recording. I ripped it from a CDR I got and then used CD Wave to split up a few songs that were combined into single tracks.
I would rate the quality at a 8 or so out of 10.

This is a pre-FM soundboard recording of the Foo's acoustic gig at INDRE studios
in Philadelphia on 07-11-2000. This show was broadcast over the radio, but it was
edited and cut at some points because of cursing and Dave telling a story about
doing acid during "Learn to Fry". This is the full, unedited version of this show.
and I have never released it anywhere, never traded it out.
The version posted on STG & DAD both had errors on Track 07 at the 1:24 and 1:37
marks, both of these have been fixed, as well as the removal of two second gaps.

This Originally came to me via trade burnt TAO with 20 tracks (21 if you include the split in track 20). Using CD Wave Editor, I manually removed the gaps and re-did the splits. There are only 13 tracks now, but it is still the same show. The other splits had been just Garth introducing his band. Here is the new track listing.
Garth Brooks
Friends In Low Prices
Los Angeles, CA
01 - Rodeo
02 - Two Pina Coladas
03 - Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House
04 - The Thunder Rolls
05 - We Shall Be Free
06 - To Make You Feel My Love
07 - The River
08 - Papa Loved Mama
09 - Standing Outside The Fire
10 - In Another's Eyes
11 - The Fever
12 - Friends In Low Places
13 - The Dance
Please note...there is a small gap in track 09 - Standing Outside The Fire. I believe that this was a glitch during the transmission. I tried to remove that gap but it just did not sound right (if you have a copy of this and it does not have this gap, by all means contact me). For that reason and that reason only, I give it a EX- in Show Rating. It is really a GREAT show!!! |

Comments:
This show captures the final night of the 1981 Private Eyes tour. The performance is terrific - top notch
efforts from Daryl Hall, G.E. Smith (guitar) and Charlie DeChant (saxophone) - and the energy level is very high.
The sound quality is very good but not perfect (most will probably rate it an "A"). This show is the perfect
complement to the commercial release "Greatest Hits Live," which is a compilation from the Private Eyes tour.
The commercial release obviously has superior sound but it's missing the medley/band introductions, between song
banter, and attitude of a band peaking and knowing it. |

John Mellencamp - John's Garage Tape
Liberated Bootleg
Conversion: Original Silver>EAC (secure) >SHORTEN 3.5.1>SHN
Conversion by: enchantgy: enchant0001 at netscape net
Quality: Soundboard recording in a studio setting
This is one of the best quality bootlegs I own. I'm not really a Mellencamp fan,
but I enjoy listening to this one anyways because of the great sound and especially atmosphere.
This is a recording of a rehearsal for the 1992 "Whenever We Wanted" World Tour.

Joss Stone Live Radio 9-December-2003
Here's a little treat for Joss fans. It's a short but sweet radio performance she did on her first American promo tour. This source is mono remastered to improve the sound quality. If you haven't seen her Mind, Body, Soul Sessions DVD recorded live at Irving Plaza you're missing something.

The fact that this is not a low-generation copy is all that keeps this from being a straight A-rated show. It does sound great, though, and those not accustomed to listening to unofficial recordings should have no problem listening to this. Some of the highlights are "Bringing It Back," "Belexes," and "Mysteries And Mayhem's" being segued directly into "The Pinnacle."
Song For America (10:57)
Icarus-Borne On Wings of Steel (06:25)

CD 1 contained three tracks, CD 2 contained four tracks, plus five 30-second commercials tacked on at the end. CDWave was used to edit out the commercials and song intros/outros except the following: Track 01 is a dedication of the broadcast to DJ JJ Jackson, who passed away before the program was aired; Track 02 is a Kansas bio read by JJ Jackson; and Track 16 is a 30-second spot promoting the broadcast.

Note: I had three different versions of this show to choose from for the transfer, none of which has a definitively known lineage. This show was mastered on cassette either by Mouse (the band's then soundman) or else by McCabe's staff and has circulated on cassette for several years. I had two different CDR versions, both of which were made from a cassette of unknown generation and lineage. I also had borrowed Glenn Steinkamp's cassette version of this show several years back and had transfered it to DAT. Glenn has been a trading friend for years and while we don't know the exact lineage of his cassette source, his is likely fairly close to the master as he has been collecting Los Lobos recordings since the mid-80's and at the time he got this recording, it likely had not "been around the block" very much.
All three versions suffered from varies degrees of the same problems, including fluctuating sound levels, sound sporadically drifting back and forth between channels and numerous pops throughout the show. The sound level and drifting problems were similar on all three sources and likely present on the cassette master as well. The magnitude of the pops varied on each of the three sources, with Glenn's cassette copy seeming to have the fewest of the bunch. The origin of these pops is unknown but I assume they also are present on the master and possibly are due to a faulty cable or some sort of sporadic grounding problem.
I used Sound Forge to even out the signal where necessary and also to remove as many of the pops as I could locate. The pops were discrete enough that no audible music was lost when they were removed. Hopefully someday I'll actually track down the master recording from this show but in the meanwhile this version is a very enjoyable recording of a great early acoustic set. Enjoy! |

Notes:
This is a CD-R copy of a professionally recorded and studio mixed concert originally distributed to radio stations on a 12" LP. It is the Penthouse Magazine College Rock Concert #1008 for the broadcast week of November 6, 1983. The show was recorded in Phoenix, AZ during the 1983 Good For Your Soul Tour. The CD-R has been tracked to separate the four promotional radio plugs from the music and is a continuous recording with no gaps between the tracks. There are some very minor "pops" from the original LP transfer.

Sam "Sluggo" Phipps - tenor sax, clarinet
Leon Schneiderman - baritone and alto sax
Dale Turner - trumpet, trombone
Note: Cool Edit Pro and Cd Wave were used to remove clicks between tracks. At 2:57 of track 11 (Sweat) you may notice a micro second of the song missing. This song was previously tracked into 2 tracks, with a gap, at this point. I removed the gap and put the track together as smoothly as I could. Also, Danny's chatter at the end of track 11 is repeated at the beginning of track 12. I just left it. Feel free to edit it out.
Also, bass level is low

Note
----
There exist many other bootlegs of this show, for example 'Crazy Diamonds'
or 'Boston Gardens 18/6-1975'. But still this is the one everybody should
get. Unlike all the others it has no cuts and seems to be a copy from the
master tape.
The Heartbreakers label has released at least two different versions of this
bootleg. However musically both releases are almost certainly the same. The
only difference seems to be the cover artwork. The version that I own is the
new one. Because I have no scanner, I have added the old version of the
cover.
I have also included an additional CUE sheet for those who want to put it
onto two discs (discs 2 and 3 combined).

*****FYI*****
I downloaded this from Direct Connect under the file name of Pink Floyd 1981-06-17 - Live Wall (Last show Ever With Roger) Earls Court London UK on 082104. This is obviously an AUDIENCE RECORDING with people talking through it. The only reason that I bring this up, is that the info on this page: http://www.livecollection.net/liveset/Floyd/floyd_bootleg.htm says that it is a SOUNDBOARD. It is a fine recording otherwise. |

Production Notes:
Even though this date isn?t on most confirmed ?Rush played this date? lists, it was recently confirmed by someone that was "in the know" and thus I feel confident in listing it as such. Alas at this time we only have the audio rip. Hopefully at some point in the future, the video itself will be found and will be able to be traded freely (update: The VIDEO has surfaced). Until that date comes though, we will have to be happy with the audio portion. The guitar and vocals are very up front in the mix with the percussion a little low perhaps but considering the age of the show and whatever long strange trip that it must have taken to get to Brazil, I?m perfectly happy to have it as is. Speaking of the long strange trip, a special thank you must go out to our friends in South America. Since Rush played in Brazil on the Vapor Trails tour, their popularity has spread and they are making more and more fans everyday across the world.
As always, a thank you goes out to Daneck for the artwork. Sharing the music is what it?s all about!
This recording was produced by fans, for fans and is never to be sold. If you like this recording, support the artists and purchase their official releases! As is the Simple Man norm, this show is available on Direct Connect and will be traded freely to all comers.
Released November 2004.

Taped Nov. 03, 2003 |
Shania's NEW TV Special: TAPED! On Nov. 3 Shania Twain has taped her new TV Special for NBC in Nashville with Alison Krauss and the Union Station. The Special, which is scheduled to air on Nov. 26, is quite different from Shania's previous ones. Here is a synopsis from Countrystars.com: "Shania Twain: Up! Close and Personal" is the title of her NBC Special that she taped in Nashville this week. The special will feature Shania in a very intimate setting, with a crowd of about 300, and with Alison Krauss and Union Station as her band and backing vocals. She looked great, wearing a black, leather, long-sleeved jumpsuit with a wide rhinestone belt and matching rhinestone, collar-like choker. Shania must have been very comfortable in the intimate setting. Between songs and when the cameras weren't rolling she talked about very random and offbeat topics including women getting hairy like gorillas during the winter when they don't shave, cellulite, burning a hole in a leather purse with vodka, sucking and spitting
snot and other tasty topics." Also, here's the setlist for the one hour show:

Shooting Star was formed in Kansas City in 1977. Quickly developing a local following, they went on to become quite popular throughout the Midwest. They were signed to Virgin/Atlantic Records in 1978 and their first album released early in 1980.
The year 1981 saw the band switching to the Virgin/Epic label for the release of their second album. The album was a success, staying in the US chart for 35 weeks. Their third album, released in 1982, marked the departure of Bill Guffey. This album also did well, receiving heavy airplay on MTV.
In 1984 the band contributed two songs, Take It and Get Ready Boy, to the soundtrack for the movie "Up the Creek". By 1985, when their fifth album was released on Geffen Records, Norman Dahlor had replaced Ron Verlin on bass. In the summer of 1986 they began what was billed as their farewell tour, after which the band split up.
In 1989, original band members Van McLain and Ron Verlin teamed up with new lead singer Keith Mitchell, Dennis Laffoon on keyboards, and Rod Lincoln on drums to release the single "Touch Me Tonight" from their first compilation album. This became their best selling single, reaching #67 in the US chart. This line-up released their last three albums, It's Not Over, Shooting Star Live, and the long awaited Leap of Faith. A second compilation album, Best of Shooting Star V2, was released in 2001.

What a Shame About Me
Notes: Dusted this off the other day and thought their might be some interest in it. The Q & A sections are very amusing, as is anytime those two open thier mouths. There is a spot in What a Shame About Me where there seems to be about a minute or two missing but appears to be from the broadcast not from taping. It is one whole file, I'm not good enough at editing yet and there are several abrubt segues into and out of commercials that would have been tricky. Hope you enjoy it.
I did check and there is not an offical release of this and none of the songs appear on the best of cd that vh1 put out. |

Live on Tour: The Warner Brothers Music Show
Throughout the latter half of 1978 and the early months of 1979, Talking Heads continued to criss-cross their way across Europe and the U.S.A., surprising many audiences with the power of their live shows.
Recognizing that on stage the band tapped into an energy source that their records left unminded, Warner Brothers (Sire's parent company) taped a Talking Heads show at the Agora in Cleveland on March 15th 1979. Entitled 'Talking Heads Live On Tour' (Warner Brothers Music Show WBMS 104), the album caught the group on the verge of the sessions for their third album Fear Of Music, and one song, 'Electricity', later appeared on that album as 'Drugs'.
The rest of the live album consisted of songs from the first two studio LP's, charged with an emoional current that belied the often placid sound of the group's records. No more than 600 copies of 'Live On Tour' were pressed up, but - like most of the promos in the Warner Brothers Music Show series - the album was quickly counterfeited (see the bootleg survey).
Tracks:
The Big Country
Warning Sign
Artists Only
The Girls Want To Be With The Girls
The Good Thing
Electricity
New Feeling
Found A Job
Psycho Killer
Take Me To The River
***This is an AWESOME show, sound quality in general is super-crisp, but are a lot of "pops" in the sound, which leads me to believe that it was a transfer from vinyl. There are also a few skips and intervals of digi noise, great show though.

--------------------------------
Excerpt from Brian Wilson's autobiography 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' :
"The new year, 1978, began with a three-week tour through Australia and New Zealand, which
Steve Love arranged to satisfy the CBS contract. The tour was promoted by Pardine, a
company owned by talk show host David Frost, who made one stipulation: I had to be on the
tour. More important, he also demanded the band send him a letter indicating I was healthy
enough to make the tour.
It's ironic Frost was only concerned about me. At the time, Dennis was into heroin and Carl
was coming off a long cocaine problem. On top of which nobody was really getting along too
well.
The tour was a bloody mess from the start. Dennis smuggled heroin into New Zealand, our
first stop, then purchased another 0-worth in Melbourne, Australia, from one of David
Frost's company's employees. I wouldn't have known of the score, except that one night I
managed to shake Stan, Rocky, and Steve who continued to maintain a near twenty four hour
vigil over me, and snorted the stuff with Dennis.
The next day, the shit hit the fan. In a vocal meeting as volatile as an arms depot on fire,
the guys insisted that Dennis be sent home, while Frost threatened to cancel the remaining
dates and then sue the band if they did. Carl, trying to calm the turbulence by admitting
his involvement in the purchase of the heroin, ended up getting punched in the face by Rocky.
--------------------------------
Anyway, I think this is a great performance with nice sound quality as well. I imagine this
gig took place before all of the problems. If I'm remembering what I've read elsewhere,
David Frost was also threatened with a lawsuit during the tour once it came out that Dennis
had obtained the drugs from one of his employees. After getting punched in the face, Carl
went on a bit of a drinking bender...resulting in some poor performances on his part. He
even passed out on stage one night if I'm remembering right. Really, the entire band was
"off" for the rest of the tour. Dennis and Carl traveled separately from Mike and Al...even
walking onstage from separate sides. Now add Brian (with his continuing mental problems)
into the mix, and you really don't have the recipe for a strong performance.

Lou's Notes: Their latest album at the time, A Kind Of A Hush, had been released in June 1976. Karen had started her battle with anorexia nervosa in 1975, having to partially cancel their European/Japanese tour. She would sadly die in 1983 from the disease, when it seemed she was doing well and posied for a comeback. She was only 32 - I was 29 at the time.
A few glitches were fixed and the show was re-tracked. Volume levels were raised slightly. |

***more info about this disc***: "Thanks for letting me know what's up with that. Since what you have is 19 tracks I'm wondering if what you have originated with me! I took two different short shows from 1980 and put them on one CD. I've never sent it out as one show but I'm sure you know how information gets lost in trading several times. Anyways, here's the scoop on what I have: tracks 1-9 are KBFH '80 and is also known as "Best of the Biscuit" and as "Live in Central Park", but only the two "Panorama" songs are actually from an '80 show. The rest was taken from the KBFH '78 show recorded at The Palladium in NYC on 9-22-78. I don't know why it was released this deceptive way and it's not the kind of thing I would do... Tracks 10-19 are from a Japanese FM broadcast and has a DJ at the beginning and middle. I edited out the DJ and put it with (but did not splice it to) the KBFH show."

Description
One of the defining girl groups of the 1980's, the Go-Go's fine tuned the art of perfect
bubblegum pop. Led by the heart-faced, dimpled singer Belinda Carlisle, the band took a
10-year hiatus from the stage. LIVE IN CENTRAL PARK captures their triumphant return to
touring. Recorded in New York's beautiful, massive park, the concert showcases the Go-Go's
performance of old and new songs, including "Head Over Heels," "Vacation," and "We Got the
Beat."

I purchased this cd a few years ago at a record fair for my mum (honest!).
It's a great show and contains an absolutly blistering cover of ZZ Top's Legs.
The only complaint that it fades in and out between songs. I dont know if this is to delete
radio adverts ot just to save time.
Cover scans are included.

Notes:
When one have heard the cut version of this show one realizes that that one was clearly "fixed" for TV (which it actually was).
Lukes guitar is over dubbed on that one (it was lost on their recording, don't ask me how, so he had to sit in a studio the day after to redo his guitar parts).
This though is the soundboard tape - totally uncut! This is real good with a big bunch of cool songs. A better sounding bootleg than this is hard to find.
