This was an impromptu show that Bono referred to as the "Save the Yuppies" concert. All Along The Watchtower was recorded here for Rattle & Hum. U2 returns to Paris to make up two shows that were postponed less than a month ago by the November 13 terrorist attacks across the city. Before tonight's show, there's an announcement over the PA system that the concert includes the sounds of loud explosions -- a reference to the audio/video that serves as an introduction to "Raised By Wolves."
The show itself is emotional, with the audience singing loudly and Bono making several references to the attacks. After "I Will Follow," he tells the crowd that "our prayer tonight is to be useful to you" and says it's "an honor and privilege to serve you this evening." He changes the lyrics during "Pride" to say "early evening November 13th, shots rung out in the Paris sky." And during "City Of Blinding Lights," the arena is bathed in the colors of the French flag while the names of the terrorist attack victims scroll slowly on the video screen.
Patti Smith joins the band on stage as "Bad" ends and sings a bit of her version of "Gloria" with Bono. She stays on stage and the show closes with a potent version of "People Have The Power." [2 hrs, 31 mins] |

U2 plays its last show of the 2015 Innocence + Experience tour, this one made up from the originally scheduled November 15 date -- a show that was postponed by the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris. The show is also being recorded for HBO.
After "One," Bono invites Eagles Of Death Metal -- the band who was performing at Bataclan last month when the venue was attacked -- to come on stage. "They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago," Bono says. "We would like to offer them ours tonight." U2 and EODM do a rocking version of "People Have The Power". After that U2 leaves the stage and the concert ends with EODM playing their own song, "I Love You All The Time." [2 hrs, 25 mins] |

U2 headline the iHeartRadio Music Festival. With the exclusion of some small acoustic gigs and impromptu performances, this is the first time Desire has opened a show. It was performed in a style reminiscent of the Hollywood Mix. With Or Without You was on the printed set as the final song after I Still Haven't Found but it was not performed. The outro music was Patti Smith's People Have the Power, which in 2015 was the usual opening music at Innocence + Experience Tour concerts. [41 minutes] |
