Ultrasonic Sound Studios
Hempstead, NY
1 Audio/CDR B With friends. Broadcast on the WLIR Tuesday Night Concert Series. This performance took place after midnight, in the early hours of November 4. Dickey Betts and Vasser Clements were to play at Radio City Music Hall the following evening: http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=393744 This was, essentially, a rehearsal for that the Radio City show. The WLIR and Ultra Sonics staff made quick arrangements to record the session. After the performance Dickey wanted to hear them again, and again, and finally, at about 4:30 a.m., the staff essentially threw him out of the studio, which did not sit well. Dickeybetts.com also lists this as the correct date for this session.

Jimi's room - Drake Hotel
New York, NY
1 Audio/CDR Frequently listed as Jimi's apartment, various dates in 1968. All previous entries have been merged into this one. This cd was an official CD that was only available if you purchased the book "Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend Of Jimi Hendrix". The book clearly states that these recordings were recorded in NYC around April of 1968; another session book pegs this date as April 12th. The book was published by Penguin Books in the USA, England, Canada and New Zealand and was first published in 1995 but I think it's no longer in print. The book is more like a hard-bound comic book and If anyone wants to try tracking it down, the ISBN# is 0-670-86789-6.

Troubadour Club

1 Audio/CDR A- Grade subjective, based on overall quality for a show of that period. Date of 5/26 may not be historically accurate. Packaging claims "Recorded live at the L.A. Troubadour, USA May 26, 1973 Bonus Tracks live in USA 1974". But Van list member Scott Evans feels it is more likely that tracks 1 - 10 are from the It's Too Late To Stop Now acetates (with tracks 1, 8 and 9 having been released on the album), and that tracks 11 - 14 were recorded at Montreux in 1974. Musicians: Violins: Nathan Ruben, Tom Helpin Cello: Terry Adams Viola: Nancy Ellis Piano: Jeff Labes Trumpet: Bill Atwood Saxaphone: Jack Schroer Guitar: John Platania Bass: David Hayes Drums: David Shaw Notes: Some, but not all of the L.A. material is available on It's Never Too Late (which is another repackaging of what is known as "The It's Too Late To Stop Now Acetates"). Bootlegged under various titles: Wild Night, Wild Night On Sunset, It's Too Late To Stop Now...
