Notes on Garaj Mahal 3/3/02 from Harlow's Bar/Restaurant, Sacramento. CA

The venue, as the descriptio above says, is a restaurant and bar with
a full professional grade stage & sound system. Meyer Sound Labs speak-
ers, quite adequate board and everything else as well. There is a nice
wooden dance floor about 20x30 sq. feet in area. There was a supper
club act consisting of a lady singer and drums, keys and stand-up bass.
They finished around 9:30 PM and then Garaj began setting up. Facing
the stage, Fareed was on the extreme left, then Alan, Kai and Eric, who
took the extreme right. The mics were as follows:
Crown SASS PZM set right in front of Alan, which put it about 3/4 of
the way from the extreme right side of the stage. This may seem un-
balanced, but both my own previous experience with this band, and
Charlie Miller's comment that the last show he recorded had Eric way
high in the volume dept., so I was trying to compensate with stage
mic placement.
Radio Shack Optimus mics on stands at nearly their full 13 feet just
kissing the outer corner of the outer of the pair on each side of the
stage, actually about 20 inches from the face and at 90 deg., pointed
each toward the other. About 30 feet between the speakers.
