DTS-Audio-CD 5.1 Mix

Neumann TLM-103> Sound Devices MP-2> Sony M-1, 90 degrees XY 6th row, right of center
Neumann KM-184> Grace Design Lunatec V2> Tascam DA-P1, ORTF facing rear of hall 6th row, right of center

DAT (44.1 khz/ 16 bit) > Wavelab 5.0 > Surcode CD Pro DTS

General channel mix setup (read notes for actual mix):

Front Left Channel: TLM-103
FrontRight Channel TLM-103
Center Channel: TLM-103 Mixed to mono
Surround Left Channel: Neumann KM-184
Surround Right Channel: Neumann KM-184
Sub/LFE Channel: TLM-103 Mixed to mono

Notes:

Mixed with Wavelab 5.0 in 5.1 surround mode. Front channels mixed partially to the rear channels, rear channels mixed partially to the front channels. All mixing done through the MOTU 828 Mk 2 on a Paradigm surround system. The XY pattern of the TLM-103\'s made for nice mono compatability to the center channel. The center channel was put lower in the mix to make for a wider soundstage through the front left and right channels.

The playback of the DTS encoded CD has to be played through a DTS ready amplifier. I have found that the set-up of many peoples surround system varies widely. This means that the volume of the surround channels may need to be manually changed through your amp to make the mix correct.
