A- | ***PREVIOUSLY UNCIRCULATED***
This is an authentic, previously uncirculated recording of Yes. Thanks to Chris Gregory for providing the high-quality transfer of his tape.
Chris did not use the automatic level control in his tape recorder during the making of this recording. As a result, the dynamics of the recording represent the actual loud and quiet passages of the performance. There is a fair amount of tape hiss in the quiet passages, including many of Jon's remarks between songs and during Steve's and Rick's solos.
I employed Sony Vegas Pro and Sound Forge Pro to master the tape, with a minimal amount of noise reduction to enhance the quiet passages without marring the music hiding under the hiss. A bit of pitch correction was required, and some EQ brought out the highs and lows.
We owe Chris a big "thank you" for sharing this historic document.
TheTooleMan (still waiting patiently for a tape of Yes 1972-09-30 Atlanta to surface)
February 2011
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes from the taper:
I provided the raw 24 bit WAV files direct from the tape to ‘TheTooleMan’.
The Lineage of this recording is as follows:
The source was a BASF C120 LH Cassette Tape recorded on a Bush TP-60 cassette tape recorder in mono with its purpose built hand held microphone, without AGC, and at a fixed manual recording level.
The tape was played back with azimuth correction on a Sony Stereo WM-DD33 Walkman and then digitised on a ZOOM H2 recorder @ 48 KHz to 24bit WAVs. No Dolby NR or EQ was used during this transfer.
There was one tape flip after ‘Heart of the Sunrise’ and before ‘Close to the Edge’. I wasn’t able to record all of the extended ‘Yours is No Disgrace’ encore as the tape ran out. As I recall I don’t think I missed much, maybe a couple of minutes or so.
On the original tape it is difficult to hear what Jon is saying but from what I have heard of ‘TheToolemans’ remaster I can definitely make out more of what Jon is saying in between tracks. I also noted that Jon’s accent back then sounds to be more typical of Manchester, Northern England (in that he grew up in Accrington, near Manchester). But over the years he lost that accent, gradually, as he spent more time in the States.
This was recorded in the Kings Hall at Belle Vue Zoo in Manchester, England. (See ‘Kings Hall’ here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Vue_Zoological_Gardens). I was about 17 or 18 at the time and I remember going along in my Afghan coat with two girlfriends, called Jill and Sarah. If you listen carefully you can probably hear them, especially during the opening (excerpt from the Firebird Suite - Stravinsky).
We were sat near the back of the hall to the right and as I recall there was only one level of seats.

30th Anniversary Edition
This edition of Marshal's legendary recording has been mastered using 24/96 Hi-Definition bit mapping. As of this writing, no known version of "Duke" has original, complete versions of AYAI and YIND.
The Yours Is No Disgrace "Through The Ages" mix is a mosaic of 30 years worth of performances for this classic Yessong. It is NOT intended to be a "best of" montage, but rather a journey of its' different incarnations (both good and bad), and the many ways the band has presented it through the years. And You & I has been restored via period recordings and is presented in it's entirely: as well as some other small passages that, in no way, compromise the integrity of this concert. The restoration techniques used in this edition were used strictly to provide continuity for the listener.

This is taken from the Sirene boot 'Heart Of The Sunrise'.
Once again, I have put a sound sample on the comments section.
You will agree that this is a far superior recording compared to the 12th.
I'll keep asking... Anyone out there got Nagoya from the 11th or Kyoto from the 14th? |

This is taken from the Sirene boot 'Yes In Japan'.
Comments: This is a new version sourced from the Sirene labeled silver CD. The end of "Trooper" is missing, as is the very beginning of "Siberian Khatru." There is also a cut in "Close To The Edge". Edits included patching some right channel dropouts, smoothing out the cut in "Close To The Edge", widening the stereo field and some dehissing/EQ to make it less harsh sounding.
Thanks to John T for liberating the Sirene bootleg.

This is not hi-fidelity by any means. I will add the shows from the 8th, 9th and 10th at some point for the purposes of completism.

REMASTER SUMMARY: All work done at the 48/24 resolution, before
downsampling. EQ work to reveal detail, as the audience heard and felt
it. At least one very annoying local audience whistler has amplitude
reduced by 1 dB at various points where no Yes signal occurs, but
otherwise no attempts to alter band-crowd-venue sound balance. If
crowd sound as real and detailed as band sound isn't desired, please
pass this by and stick to soundboards or industry releases.
No compression. Conservative noise reduction applied to compensate for
unfavorable signal to noise ratio during quieter band moments and to
further reveal midrange frequency detail, but some hiss has to be
tolerated to avoid signal damage. Pitch- tempo was approximately 1%
off, now corrected. |

3. Gentle Hiss reduction
4. Repair tape flips and cuts in recording using Rogoff source, restoring missing segments.
5. Dynamic adjustments to correct for peak suppressions, particularly due to loud claps
6. Adjust tonality/EQ. Taper location caused excess bass and other tonal imbalances that needed correcting
7. Reduce whistles, claps and yells by audience members
8. Speed correct and match to recording by Rogoff

8 | Remastering notes (caveat - I am not a professional):
The right channel needed a volume boost and some EQ to bring up the highs. Then there was some small fixes to be made between songs and to clean up some cuts. Then the whole thing needed some EQ'ing for overall bass and highs. A 'clapping' reduction was made to get rid of a lot of annoying loud applause.. After that the audio compression was done to bring out the vocals and then an overall compression for 16-bit mastering. Finally pitch correction to get the speed right. Voila!
Notes about the show:
This is not a complete show. The tour song and And You & I are missing. There are some cuts in some songs as noted in the setlist and some in-between song chatter missing as well |

This one is for Relayerman. On several occasions before he passed away, Mike Millard let a close friend come to his residence and transfer a number of his masters to dat while they were hanging out. This show is one of those master>dat transfers. This is Mike's mint, raw master. It has not been equalized or remastered. Since I do not have any boots of this show, I cannot comment on how it compares to them. To me the sound quality is excellent, but as always, song samples are provided so that you can decide for yourself. As many of you already know, Millard's recordings are known for their quality. Hope you enjoy this gem.

Video soundtrack, thought to be soundboard
Lineage: SOUNDBOARD -> video tape -> audio CD -> Sound Forge -> FLAC
This soundtrack was on two CD's. Each CD contained one continuous track. All I did was break them up by track, sector aligned them, and converted the WAV files to mono to reduce the size of the torrent. The original recording is mono, so nothing was lost here. Buzz, hum, speed variations, and drunken Scotsmen abound. Have fun with it, if you're inclined to try to improve it or just enjoy a certain amount of masochism.
Hopefully the video will be seeded. I thought I had a copy, but no such luck. I have seen the video - it's all shot from a single camera and a bit boring, but it's a document of what people saw on the tour, and for that it stands as an important artifact. There are color and B&W versions of the video. This soundtrack comes from a color version.

** A TooleMan Remaster **
Lineage: unknown gear & tape -> mastering process of some sort -> first-generation tape? -> audio CD -> EAC -> TheTooleMan remaster (2011) -> FLAC
Anyone who can identify the taper of this show should let us know so we can give full credit for a good job.
This is a very good recording of a fine Saturday night performance. It's a nearly-complete show, the first of two Yes gave in New Haven in 1979. I think the finale of Steve Howe's solo set is missing and was patched with applause where it ends prematurely, and there's a cut in "And You And I" that I've mixed to make it a bit less jarring.
The recording sounds great after some careful TooleMan tweaking. There were a few cuts in applause and some fades applied by a previous basement engineer. I cleaned those up, adjusted the track boundaries, balanced the levels of the left and right channels, and equalized the whole shootin' match. No noise reduction was used; there's a slight high-frequency hiss throughout the tape.
Jon seems to think he is in Hartford at first, but gets it straight pretty fast. And an explosive sound gets a big reaction just before Jon sings the opening lines of "Heart of the Sunrise."
Thanks again to Alec B. and Paulie for another great, rare recording.

AA | This is an outstanding recording. It comes as a master tape source from the guy who recorded it. He informs us that he used a Nakamichi 550
recorder with Nakamichi CM-100/CP-1 microphones at the time. The show has wonderful quality with harmonics visible in the frequency spectrum up to
18,000Hz. This level of quality is very rare for audience recordings made before 1980, but here it is!
Probably a Dan Lampinski recording an excellent recording |

A+ | “Red Stick” - TheTooleMan’s 30th Anniversary Edition
Lineage: audience tape -> audio cd -> EAC -> Sound Forge/Vegas -> FLAC
A great concert from the last few days of the 10th anniversary “In The Round” tour. (As
Jon comments before the long medley, the band had been together 11 years by the time of
this show.)
And this is one of the best audience recordings of this tour! Highs are crisp and clear, the
bass forceful. There are a few spots of distortion – it was a loud concert - but fortunately
for us they don’t last long and aren’t too bad.
I remastered and circulated this recording in 2002 with the title “Red Stick.” This is a
new remaster, done from scratch in June 2009. I went back to the original audio CD’s
rather than building on the work I’d done in the past. Changes and improvements to the
original CD’s include pitch correction, fixing abrupt volume changes, EQ, and editing to
fill a small piece of “All Good People” and a few other miscellaneous shortcomings.
When I attended this show, little did I know that I would not see the “classic” Yes line-up
again for 23 years.
Enjoy it like it’s 1979.

REMASTER SUMMARY: EQ work to reveal - not mix - extant AR detail, as
the audience heard and felt it. No attempts to alter band-crowd-venue
sound balance. If crowd sound as real and detailed as band sound is a
problem, please pass this by and stick to boards or industry releases.
No compression or noise reduction. FFT filtering at 19.3KHz eliminated

Speed/pitch corrected, stereo-balanced, the audio sound was made with Steinberg Wavelab, for all tracks in different way, because of the different sources qualities. The files are continouously
follows each other in order, the beginnings are joining from the previous tracks.
Enjoy. (DGY-REM)
FROM THE ORIGINAL NOTES:
Several years ago I gathered up all the sources I had to this FM broadcast and made a 2-disc set which was the most complete version of the show I'd heard. Thanks go to Dave E. for providing me with those elusive UK version tracks. Regardless of who/what screwed up the broadcast we have about 3/4 of the show. We are missing the Young Peoples Guide to Orchestra intro, Does It Really Happen, maybe Parallels (they were still playing it at this point in the tour), and Amazing Grace/The Fish.

- the running order was fixed to agree with source 1 & Forgotten Yesterdays

(and BTW the 2nd show of tour also has this same tracklist),

Hildie Mod Notes Apr 14, 2008: A version of this show was posted elsewhere and I had this
version so I decided to post since it is more complete. I modified the entire recording spectrum and added a presence band. This recording had good signal to noise ratio so I could work with it. No noise reduction or compression was used.
Also there was mention of this being worked with prior by Matt P. I mention that only for
credit purposes. There is a soundboard of this show posted else where but is not as complete
as this is so this was worth taking another look at.

REMASTERED by TheTooleMan from the original recording by Chris Milazzo
(Both Chris Milazzo’s master and a TooleMan remaster were seeded on Dimeadozen in 2006. This version is an update to the 2006 remaster)
Lineage: audience recording by Chris Milazzo -> FLAC -> Sound Forge -> FLAC
Additional lineage information on the original recording is available in the “Files from Original Seed” folder
Quality: Excellent – one of the best audience recordings of Yes I’ve ever found. The original seed’s info file is included for reference.
It has been almost 10 years since I took my 10-year-old Danny to his first rock concert on this night in 1997. His mom had the flu and couldn’t go, so Danny lucked out. Tickets were sold on the internet to YesWorld members, but because of some kind of screw-up at the venue we wound up on the third row instead of the first. Still, the seats were great. We inserted our ear plugs as the show started.
Just as Jon and Igor started into “Children of Light,” Danny announced he had to go to the bathroom. We got up and headed to the end of the row, and as we hurried I tripped and almost fell into the lap of Jon’s wife, Jane. She looked at me in shock. I apologized, then we made our way to the men’s room. While we waited for an opening, other guys took note of Danny and told me he was lucky to have such a cool dad. I thanked them, but I knew I was also lucky to have such a good kid. Danny acted as grown-up as anyone in the theater – maybe more so, since he wasn’t standing on the chair screaming and slobbering beer all over me.
We had a great time, and after the show, we made our way ‘round back of the theater. Steve Howe came out to sign albums and other stuff. He did a double take on Danny, so I said, “This is his first big rock concert.” “Mine was Chuck Berry,” Mr. Howe replied.
Next, Jon and Jane made their way from the back door of the theater to a waiting bus. Then Jon came back and signed things. I introduced Danny to him, and they shook hands. Jon asked if Danny’s ears were sore. “Mine are,” he added.
On the way home, we talked about which songs we liked. Danny liked Roundabout, and was impressed by Steve Howe. Then, in a quiet, awe-struck voice, he said, “I shook hands with Jon Anderson.” I was awe-struck too - by the fantastic time I’d had with my wonderful son. It is one of many highlights of my life as his father, and I cherish this recording as a memento.
Less than a year later on July 31, 1998, Danny, his mom, his brother Eric, and I saw Yes at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, the big outdoor venue north of Houston. To my knowledge, no recordings of that show have surfaced. If you know of a recording of the show, please contact me or seed it on Dimeadozen.

Three patches (in Firebird, CTTE, and Awaken) to cover
extreme local crowd noise were taken from a fellow
taper's recording (CSB>batt box>D8(44.1))
Processing included convert to 32 b.f. format, fades,
notch filter at about 60 Hz to eliminate PA hum, EQ,
Waves L2 with dither to 16 bits. Some crowd noise
before YIND was also deleted. There are a few brief
instances of static from the stage.
I was seated in in the front row of the second
section (26th row), dead center. There was an aisle
in front of me, and the movement of persons through the
aisle can very occasionally be detected as a brief,
minor phasing variance, especially with headphones.
The taper who supplied the patches was seated 6 rows
in front of me, also dead center.
The excellent artwork was created by Randy Mohr.
[Sept. 2008--This is my own recording and it has not,
to my knowledge, been torrented. I did tree it with
a trading group not long after I made the recording. I
know at least three other tapers were present. Though
I've made many, many recordings since this, and though
almost all have been in open situations with better gear,
this remains one of my favorites, as it really came out well.
The band also had a very good night, despite, or perhaps even
because of a few mishaps, at least one technical, and a couple
in performance. Very good spirits all around, and the most
fun I've seen them have on stage. Sadly this was all too rare
in this second leg of the 04 tour, if the accounts are to be
believed. I've slightly adjusted the titles of the false start
and the improv LDR version, but the artwork remains as it was.
I've also retained the title I gave it back when I thought I
was clever, to help distinguish it from any other versions.]

AA | Yes’ 35th Anniversary Tour began mid April 2004 in Seattle and ended September 22nd, 2004 in Monterrey, Mexico and featured the Anderson, Squire, Howe, Wakeman, and White lineup. The tour was broken into three legs starting with a Spring North American Tour, followed by the summer tours of Europe and North America. A nice cross section of material from over the years was chosen for this tour emphasizing the current members and also featuring “Sweet Dreams” from the pre – Howe era and Paul Simon’s “America” that was only released as a single in 1972. Another track that makes its appearance in the tour is the rarely played “South Side Of The Sky”.
The recording is an excellent stereo soundboard with some traces of compression. The mix is really good with the bass slightly overshadowed by the other instruments. It amazes me after all these years these guys still sound so good. There aren’t too many aging bands that can still pull off their music at this level. Vocally, they aren’t as sharp as they used to be, understandably so, but Anderson’s voice sometimes benefits from the slight raspiness giving him an edgier sound than he’s ever had before. “South Side Of The Sky” is a good example and sounds quite good with an extended section at the end with Wakeman and Howe trading solos.
The acoustic section features a really nice “Long Distance Runaround” followed by the usual tour story by Jon Anderson of when he wrote the song in Jamaica. The band then kicks into a short reggae version where Jon sings “long distance runaround/long time, waiting to get me some ganja/I still remember the dream there/I still remember the time I got so high” and goes on about how Bush and Kerry should start smoking again and stop talking about war before referencing the Barrett Strong anti-war anthem “War”, even getting the crowd to participate in the chant. The whole acoustic set is pretty loose with lots of stories and comic moments between songs with Rick Wakeman providing lounge style piano for background music. Chris Squire get his turn at a storyteller moment where he explains how he and Alan White called on Rick Wakeman to come up with a special 35th Anniversary blues version of “Roundabout” that ends in an enthusiastic “Fucking Brilliant!” from Chris. Keeping an open mind, the acoustic versions of “Long Distance Runaround”, “Roundabout” and even “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” come across really well and is a nice twist in the set. Rick Wakeman takes an outstanding piano solo in “Owner” in place of the guitar solo. Still, songs like “Awaken” and “Starship Trooper” really steal the show for the die-hard Yes fans and are a great way to end the night.
Sirene does it again with Night Must Fall; a superb sounding set and a worthwhile performance from the definitive Yes lineup giving this title essential status. (WGPSEC)

Good+ sound, no audio processing.
This is Yes playing complete versions of three of their classic albums: Close to the edge, Going for the One, and The Yes album.
Overall, a very enjoyable show. There were some problems with the sound, and also a bat flying over the band members' heads for most of the duration of the show, both of which Steve Howe refers to on track 17.

Comments: This was a great performance in a wonderful outdoor venue. There are no better acoustics than open air acoustics. It's wonderful not to have to deal with reverb bouncing off walls, or tents, or sheds. The performance was great. I think the band is finally back to pre-2008 form. My favorite part was the "Going For The One" album that wasn't performed when I saw them earlier this year. There are only five songs that were performed live by Yes over the years, that have been performed by all four lead vocalists the band have had: Jon Anderson, Trevor Horn, Benoit David and Jon Davison. The first four are very predictable, "Yours Is No Disgrace", "Starship Trooper", "Roundabout" and "And You And I." Oddly enough the fifth is "Parallels", which has always been one of my favorites. It's played at a much better tempo here than it was in 2011. I continue to be impressed with Jon Davison. His vocals were strong throughout on some difficult material. The rest of them played pretty well too!
The recording came out very nice. It might be one of my best ever if not for the background conversations that are slightly audible in places. It's not too distracting. This was recorded from the 2nd row, a section where most tickets were VIP tickets, that cost big bucks. I don't have any idea why people would pay so much money for a show only to chat through it. Luckily, there was no real obnoxious people, just some background murmur. The couple directly in front of me in the first row spent most of show lip-locked. Nothing says romance quite like "Starship Trooper"!
Artwork is included in the torrent. The photos are from the actual show.
PLEASE DO NOT USE AS A SOURCE FOR A MATRIX.
Please share this recording in unaltered lossless quality. If you need to remaster, or something, let me know, and I can provide the undedited raw master (without EQ/volume tweaks) for you to use.

Comments: This is a great recording....of Alan White's ride cymbal. Seriously, I went to the show in Westbury last year, and the sound was fantasic, but this time around, I thought the venue sound sucked. Everything was murky and muffled except for the ride cymbal. To make matters worse, the amps on the revolving stage changed the mix as the stage would spin around. You can actually tell how the stage was spinning listening to the show. For instance, right after the harpsichord run in "Siberian Khatru", Chris' bass is right in your face. Shortly after as the stage spun around and Howe's amps are passing by, the guitar is loud in the mix. And then of course, when the drums spin around, the ride cymbal is even more prevalent. So the mix was very bad where I was sitting. Last year, I was only a few rows back from where I was this year, so I'm not sure the problem was my placement in the venue. I just think the sound sucked. Maybe some others who were there can comment about what they thought of the sound, and if it sounded better elsewhere in the theater.
As for the recording, it's okay, with the mix problems I mentioned above. My enjoyment of the show was also hindered by the asshat sitting behind me who wouldn't shut up. Luckily, the way my microphones are positioned, sound behind me doesn't get picked up all that well, and he's not nearly as annoying on the recording as he was in real life. He felt the need to scream all sorts of stuff at the band, like "Steveie!". At one point he was commenting to this friend, who talked a lot softer than he did, about how "Turn Of The Century" is such a beautiful song. If it's so beautiful, then why don't you STFU and listen to it. I didn't try to turn around and ask him to settle down, because that hasn't worked out too well in the past. It usually just makes the person shout louder. It's amazing how inconsiderate people can be. I think I'm done with Long Island concerts for a while.
So this might go down as my least favorite Yes concert out of the 40+ that I've seen in person, and it had nothing to do with the band. From what I can tell, they played tight. I just wish the sound was better and the people were more polite. So don't expect this recording to sound half as nice as the Holyoke show I posted from a few days prior. That one was special.

Capitol Theater - Clearwater,

A+ | This was the toward the end of the #Yes50 tour. The original plan was for this show to be held at The Capitol Theater's sister venue, Ruth Eckerd Hall, but ongoing renovations to Ruth Eckerd Hall moved the show to The Capitol Theatre.
The band played a fantastic setlist, but had some technical difficulties. Steve Howe gestured to the engineering staff during the first set that he was having problems with his earpiece. He broke a guitar string during Perpetual Change.
The band started going off the rails at the beginning of Yours Is No Disgrace before getting back on track. Jon Davison, at one point during Starship Trooper, sounded like he was suppressing a cough.
Everything recorded by GeoffreyM on a TASCAM DR-05 to SD card using 24-bit WAV at 96kHz. I was just a few rows from the stage, just to the left of Steve Howe.
At the beginning of the show, security was rather tight, stopping a large number of people from recording video using their cellphones. You can hear that the sound was rather muffled near the beginning of Close To The Edge when I moved my setup so that I wouldn't attract the attention of security.
All mastering of the raw WAV files was done by Remy with Adobe Audition CC2015. Remy EQ'd the raw WAV files to clean up the sound of my original recording. He increased the volume of the second set by +2dB. Remy saved it as a FLAC file and cut it into separate tracks.
All photographs are from the July 26, 2018 show at The Capitol Theatre in Clearwater, Florida.

Comments: I really enjoyed the first set. Loved hearing "Silent Wings", even if they did edit it down bit. I also love "The Quest", so it was great to hear a couple songs from that album as well. I wasn't that excited about the "Close To The Edge" part of the set. They've done the entire album on a few different tours already. I actually enjoyed Jon Anderson's version of the album with the kids this summer. It had more energy and was played at the right tempo. This was still a fun show, but I don't regret not doing multiple shows this go around.
I think this recording came out pretty well. The acoustics at this theater are real good, and I thought the concert itself sounded really great, and that is reflected on this recording. There's a little bit of crowd noise, and I had to shave the first 20 seconds of the bird chirping at the start of Close To The Edge because of some ruckus from people getting back to their seats, but it's certainly not obvious upon playback.
