This is the correct date for the show that's often mislabeled 12/73 KSAN radio broadcast - the air date was 12/02/73 but it was recorded on 10/31/73. This was recorded shortly after the Wailers were kicked off the Sly & The Family Stone tour for actually drawing more attention than Sly. They were stranded and the K-SAN station booked them at the Matrix Club as well as giving them this Radio time.
Lineup: Bob Marley: Guitar and Vocals
Peter Tosh: Rhythm Guitar and Vocal
Earl 'Wire' Lindo: Keyboards
Aston 'Family Man' Barrett: Bass
Carlton Barrett: Drums
"Walk The Proud Land" is the same song as "Rude Boy", with slightly different text written by Bunny Wailer, but here Bob is singing his lyrics version, so it's called "Rude Boy". After "Rastaman Chant" there's the instrumental jam of "Keep The Faith". |

Updated June 2004: For years this show has been confused with the 6-13-80 Rockplast show in Dortmund, Germany. The setlists in the DB were identical. The corrected setlist above and the track timings are listed in the Frank Jones database:

*After Sweet Georgia Brown, the announcer returns and mentions the standing ovation. The recording breaks and then there is a Swing 51, Barkley's Bug, Thailand, and Sheik of Araby. When looking at these song's waveforms, they look much lower than the previous tracks making me believe that they might not be from this performance, or at least another source than the majority of this recording.
**This last track is Dawg giving someone a lesson on how to play a song on the mandolin. |

Notes:
Playing the first night of a sold out two night stand at the famous
Fillmore Auditorium Jack and the band rocked the house.
During "Sexy Plexi" Jack mixes in some lyrics from Paul Simon's
"Me & Julio Down By The School Yard"
The talkative crowd earned a special lyric during "Gone" ... "gone,
people talking while i'm trying to sing"
The too rarely played "Express Yourself" and "It's All Understood" for the
second encore closed the show |

Circulates misdated as 05/01, 05/04, 05/05, 05/12, 05/14, and 12/05 and perhaps other dates.
May 8, 1954 is the correct and only date: http://ils.unc.edu/afporch/audio/louie/louie.html
Armstrong apparently performed twice for the German club's Spring Dance: in the afternoon at Memorial Hall for the public and in the evening, 8:00 to midnight, for a formal dinner. The afternoon performance circulates widely.
Louis Armstrong - Trumpet, Vocals
Billy Kyle - Grand Piano

Set 1 is a performance attributed to June 13, 1975, which also circulates dated June 3. The Meters opened for the Rolling Stones TOTA '75 from 6/1/75 to 6/14/75
On this date, The Meters played Cahoots in Baton Rouge
Disc 2 is not the same show. It is a fascinating collection of live stuff - some is the Meters in SF(Boarding House?), some is w/ Professor Longhair (probably Meters 1973 or 1978-9 w/early Neville Bros.) some is Wild Tchoupitoulas and some is original Neville Brothers with Renard Poche and his bass playing brother. |
