1 FLAC A A DPA 4061 > Sonosax SX-M2 > M1 (44.1 kHz) Notes: The EQ applied a slight bass reduction curve to get rid of the boom. There is a *very* small dropout in track 12 at 1:27.

Le Zénith
Paris, France
2 SHN A A DAT -- Sony ECM 959s > Sony TCD-D8 Notes: Although the sound of this recording sounds very similiar to that of the bootleg 'Late In Paris', they are actually different sources. Really, that is saying a lot as this particular recording is exceptionally clear, crisp, loud and an all-around-enjoyment to listen to. Even when you test out the quality of this recording, you can tell that the taper was pretty close to the speakers but not too close - more like he was in the 'sweet spot' while taping. There is a layer of crowd noise but it is quite low & appropriate. I must confess that some of the 2001 recordings/performances sound very simliar, for some reason, the Paris gig just seems to be something special. Hard to get sick of hearing alternate sources, 'least for me.

2 SHN A A Mini Disc --- Core Sound Binaurals > Sony MZ-R50 Notes: Very clear recording, especially for an outdoor venue. The band seems to not only be in a rather good mood but they play really, really well. As good as most other gigs from this era of touring: loud, precise, professional & polished. One of the better European recordings I've heard from 2002; Ticks & Leeches is superb this night. Getting to this recording, the taper mastered this to WAV, burned it to CD then uploaded it to an FTP where he had it up so people could download it for a little while. So, most copies of this show are in MP3 format. However, a resourceful trader named Per tracked down the taper & received a non-MP3 version - I got this copy from him. There are tiny, tiny track inconsistencies but this is not an indication of a MP3 but that the taper didn't really master it totally smooth; they are only noticable if you look for them - very slight. All in all, a real nice recording of a very good show.

2 SHN A+ Sound Board (SBD) > FM > Assisted Listening Device (ALD) > PCM-M1 Notes/Comments: An incredible recording. This is one of the best live Tool shows I've ever heard, regardless of the fact that it's nearly the same generic setlist heard at most of the 2002 shows.
