This is Keith Godchaux's 2nd show with the Dead, and his first Dark
Star.
The first set differs slightly in sound quality, and sounds as if some
noise reduction was performed. There is a dropout at 2:20 of
Truckin'. There is some oversaturation during Ramble On Rose, Sugar
Magnolia and parts of the 2nd set. A pitch correction was performed
using Sound Forge for the 2nd set.
Thanks to Jeff Cook for this gem.

This shn set is compiled from two different sources, both listed with one cassette generation. The secondary source is slightly degraded, but was more complete and supplies:
--tracks d1t04-->d1t08
--tracks d2t01-->d2t02
Notes:
--Sound Forge was used to correct the pitch of the secondary source, and to remove a number of minor crackles within several songs.

NOTES
Flaw-free, from a digital perspective. All the "Dead Air"
has been cut from between tracks. There is some amplifier
hum that is audible (particularly at the beginning of Stella
Blue) and it sounds like someone kicks an amp 3:35 into
Might As Well. There is a brief overlap from disc 2 to disc
3 (Phil pounds out the intro to the TOO at the very end of
disc 2, and disc 3 starts right there with that intro).
This came to me via trade from Jay Ashley (thanks!) who
copied my CDs from his CDs, and I did the DAE extraction and
compression to SHN. Enjoy!

Ship Of Fools [7:07]
Saint Stephen (1) [4:51]
Iko Iko (2) [3:37]>
Not Fade Away [9:14]>
Sugar Magnolia [8:52]
ENCORE Uncle John's Band [8:21]
COMMENTS (1) Saint Stephen not finished. (2) Iko Iko is sung as part of Not Fade Away - no transition exists between songs and one could argue NFA is 12:51 with lyrics to Iko Iko sung at the beginning (much like Who Do You Love appeared in versions of Caution in 1972). |

Heartbreaker
Black Dog
The Ocean
Since I've Been Loving You
Stairway to Heaven
Going to Califorina
Black Country Woman

Tangerine
Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp
Dazed and Confused
What Is and What Should Never Be
Dancing Days
Moby Dick
Whole Lotta Love
Rock and Roll
Organ Medley
Thank You
Money
Over the Hills
Dancing Days
Over 3 hours long and what a show. There are lots of previews for the 5th album including The Ocean, Over The Hills & Far Away and Dancing Days which is performed twice! During a very long and relaxed acoustic section Black Country Woman gets its first live airing, 3 years before it is released and 5 years before it is played live again.
The organ medley contains many songs including Louie Louie!, dedicated to the Seattle band the Kingsmen. Dazed and Confused is one of the longest and best versions ever, including Walter's Walk and The Crunge among other references.
A truely amazing show that takes off from the first bars of Immigrant Song. A classic concert... possibly "The" best performance overall from 1972!

This is another one of the very first bootlegs I ever received in a trade with a friend, this is the most complete version of the Dallas Soundboard that has been circulating for years, unfortunately " No Quarter", and " Moby Dick" have always been incomplete songs, I wish that there was a complete tape, or at least an audience tape to merge the missing pieces together with, but the editting has been done very well, you'll just be able to zone into the show.
Now, my friend told me that this show was " Chasing The Dragon",he did not tell me which version it was, and after doing some research on the tape, on Bootledz and Underground Uprising, I have discovered that the second disc comes from a different tape.
" Moby Dick" is faded out on this version, but the Empress Valley version of " Chasing the Dragon" has removed the fade out, and left the drum work untouched.
Whether or not my friend did the fade himself, I couldn't tell you, but it states in the sourcs that it isn not faded out in " chasing The Dragon". So I'm offering this tape as simply " Dallas, 1975: Complete tape", not to confuse anyone or call it something it's not.
The setlist is exactly the same as " Chasing The Dragon", but this is NOT " Chasing The Dragon".
On the subject of " Chasing The Dragon":
Empress Valley was the first to release it, then Eelgrass came up with a version, then Tisdu came out with a version.
It does state on the back of the cover art of Tisdu's version that the audio was taken from Empress Valley's version, so their version is a clone.
It does not state the same on the back of Eelgrass' version, but according to Bootledz, Eelgrass has done the same thing that Tisdu did, but I don't want to jump to conclusions about what one label did, and what one didn't, but I'll trust a reliable source.
Even though a complete tape would be great, you at least have ALL of the show, when previously only the first two discs of material were availiable to the trading communities.
Great sounding soundboard, one of my favourites, and one of the better 1975 shows, Plant's voice is fine, and the band play incerdibly well.
The crowd apparently weren't that responsive to them, Plant ask's them to " wake up" before they go into playing " No Quarter".
It's a really lively soundboard, it's not dry, or Flat, a really powerful performance, equalled to L.A, or Earl's Court.
Enjoy

Notes: Fade In/Out done in Soundforge. I also added a bit of leader
from another source to piper(the start of set 2) because a couple notes
of piper were missed on the master. So @ 52 seconds into piper you hear
the splice. The notes are correct but you hear the difference from being
way back in the tapers section to fob. So the spliced source for the first 52
seconds of crowd noise before piper is Schoeps MK41/CMC6>SX-M2>DAP1
(in tapers section). Thanks to mikey for the smokin tapes.
enjoy~

This show is noteworthy for several reasons - Cleburne Terrace is played at the beginning of the second set (you can hear the studio verison of this on Mike Houser's solo album 'Door Harp'), the band wishes Todd a happy birthday before Long May You Live, and this is one of the first Chilly Water sandwichs ever. Also, listen for stage banter between songs. |

Notes: Brief 1/2 second spot of static during Stop-Go from the P.A. I've heard other sources and they all
have this noise at the same spot. Rest of the show should be flawless. Sound quality is nice. Enjoy!
