*One of the earliest known recordings of the band.
John D'Earth might sit in on Recently.
Not sure if this is a real show.
Sounds like a compilation CD made by the band due to the 4? different
sound qualities hinting to maybe three different shows? Fillers?
Quality is ok. There is a strong airy sound in the
beginging (Mother's Night), but it fades a bit into the show.
Redemption Song has clicks in it, and has no right channel
source up untill around 40 second mark. All songs end abruptly.

*One of the earliest recordings ever of Dave Matthews Band. Bad quality, but still incredible to lsiten to. I think "No Sympathy for the Devil" is missing off every recording - Boyd does Amazing Grace for the first track.

This is the greatest mix tape you never heard. Labeled '10.21.91', it was even an uncommon show back in the analog days. It is basically a mix tape of various 1991 performances, with some great gems. Some of the nice ones include; "Screaming From The Minarets", with the Scream by Dave starting off the song, "Water Drum Jam", an early DMB jam that sounds like it's the lost track from the Little Mermaid soundtrack, and early Jimi Thing, and two Dave and Tim tracks. The Dave and Tim songs could be from as early as October, 1992, but the true date is unknown.

From a tripod VHS recording & SBD Audio. Some clipping (esp. at the beginning of the first disc). One audio/video glitch during Dancing Nancies. Dave's guitar is almost inaudible, but the rest of the instruments sound fine. The resolution isn't that great, but the cameraman zooms in on all members of the band eventually, so you can see what they looked like ten years ago. (Yes, you can see Peter Greiser!) (#15-16)

SBD, possible on-stage matrix
|
This was one of the first 'found' shows to surface in CD form. Fans traded this show for years under the date of "8/XX/92". Around 1999, this 'Matrix' mix made its way around trading circles. You get a nice SC Best Of What's Around, and then some Dave solo stuff, including a quick Lie In Our Graves, and Dave and Boyd do the John Prine classic "Angel From Montgomery". Then the full band starts off with a great 6 song run, Help Myself through Blue Water Baboon Farm is solid. You also might notice that during the second verse of One Sweet World, it seems like Dave and the music get off by a half a beat. OSW used to give the band some trouble around this time. The long Jam intro to Typical, and a nice Recently cap off this nice find.

November, 1992 was a great month for DMB. There isn't a bad show that entire month, probably because Halloween just debuted as a song. This show falls into that 'slipped through the cracks' of good shows. This show is incomplete, but what we do have is nice. A Halloween opener, and some improvs. "The Tape Song", all 15 seconds or so of it, appears at this show. It's just Dave rambling, but those were the days when the shows were a bit less structured. The second jam is usually called "Boyd's Blues", but in reality, the Boyd's Blues is a reference to it being last call for alcohol. This is a nice, spontaneous show.

Way back in a time called "1996", if you went to a primitive "message board" and asked, "what is the best DMB show ever", you were mocked if you didn't answer 11.17.92. Why? Besides the 1st Granny ever, Dave liked it so much, he played the song twice. Really. It has a Great old-school Halloween, a real nice Typical, and what was once considered the greatest 'side' ever. Back in the analog tape days, Tape 2, Side A, generally started with the second Granny, and then ran through a nice IBYU, a solid Warehouse, a strong double shot of Boyd (Angel From Montgomery and True Reflections), and then to top off that side, you get the Paul Simon cover "Me and Julio" and a jammed out Two Step. Pretty nice. You get all that and a nice Blue Water Baboon Farm on top of it. Understand that 'greatest show ever' thingy yet? Just give it a listen. (antsmarching.org)

It's New Years Eve, or somewhere around it. This show started what was once a DMB tradition; a New Years Eve show. Ants Marching ushered in the new year, and a new era for DMB. The band ran through their '92 staples, including a nice Minarets Blue Water medley. It's also nice to hear Boyd run through Angel From Montgomery as well. The show ends strong, with Tripping Billies. A very nice 92 show.

They balance well. Dave starts out with his usual solo stuff, with Leroi joining him on Cry Freedom. Overall, it's very solid, but within this show you'll find one of the strongest second sets ever done. The band starts with Warehouse, with a Shortin' Bread outro, an early version of Seek Up, the very first #34 (with different lyrics, pre-Miguel Valdez influenced), and an encore of Halloween and Billies. Not bad for a Wednesday night show at the Flood Zone.

The set list alone looks good on paper, but when you hear this show, it'll blow you away. The Opening song, Seek Up, has a slightly different intro, a bit more jazzed up. The #36 - mid set too - is great, with the last verse spelling out Chris Hani's murder. But the true seperating-from-the-rest factor is the Ants Marching. This is a very unique Ants, with a great great jam intro that will have you checking the set list to find out what song they're about to do. Not to mention the 'no encore' closing trifecta of Watchtower, Nancies, and Halloween. This is one of the 10 best DMB shows of all time.

This is just a nice little show. Great Seek Up opener, and a disc 1 run of Nancies into Minarets, into Typical. The Minarets Features the "slow and low" rap intro from Carter, along with some lyrics about Highway Girls. Say Goodbye makes its return after a 3 month layoff, and even though part of it is missing from the tape, the jam into #36 is a great closer! This is another of the hidden gems of 1994.

The Set II opening of "Two Step" into "Ants Marching" stands out, but it's the only time performance of "Me And Her" that makes this show classic!! When Dave sings, "I thought once or twice of being there with her," it shows how special the song is to him. Fitting that "Me And Her" is followed by "The Song That Jane Likes." The band also had enough confidence to close with a slow song, Satellite, showing their confidence in the Athens crowd. A true classic indeed.

There was a time that this show was unknown, but it was actually the BIG event in Tuscaloosa, AL in the summer of 94. Dave did an extensive interview with campus DJ Sean Carrey on The Sean Carrey Show, WVUA Studios. All that remains from the interview is ?Pay For What You Get? (as filler on this copy). The tape wasn't running during the interview due to a system malfunction. This show also features a rare double encore consisting of four songs in total, one being a jam. And an even more rare, a ?Lie In Our Graves? medley with Halloween. The DJ (also the show taper) requested ?Halloween? as Dave sat during a commercial break and made out the set list. Dave gave a look at the set list, and 'inserted' ?Halloween? after ?LIOG.? This show is a rare gem!

This show marks probably the only true 'unknown' song out there. Dave played a song that never went anywhere, singing some lyrics about "feeding his love". An early version of Proudest Monkey, and a strong Disc 2 make this show a good one.

Two Step Hail Storm. This set of SVCD MPEGs (labeled "dmb2000-07-12d1t01-sync.mpg) has been edited to improve the sync. A number of the tracks were slighly adjusted using Womble Multimedia tool. This process only included DeMultiplexing, and then remultiplexing - NOT reencoding.
Tracks d3t2 thru d4t2 were all resynced to the SBD SHNs. On the original set of MPGs there was substantial noise in the left channel. The new audio corrects that issue, and was resynced with the video.
If burning as an SVCD, burn _slowly_ (8x or less is best). If you burn them too quickly they'll studder on most standalones.

There are a few spots of clipping in the loudest spots

Widely considered to be one of the strongest performances of the Summer 2002 Tour. The encore was supposed to be Gravedigger + Everyday
Dave played Dancing Nancies solo instead. As the band
prepared to play Everyday, the crowd chanted Two Step
until they switched and played it.

Being a huge DMB fan, I believe this to be one of the greatest, if not the best, shows the band has ever put on. Without doubt, this night was the pinnacle of their career. DVD & CD out November 7th. Warren Haynes on ?Cortez the Killer? & ?Jimi Thing.?
