??/??/00 VH1 - Behind The Music Compilation Compilation DVD Badfinger VH1 Behind The Music 2000 43m 45s, 5 chapters No menu, but chaptered where commercial breaks were. Quality: A DVD -> CloneDVD2 -> PC -> Nero (for minor editing/chaptering) -> You A HUGE thanks to Motley Hoople (Ian) who mailed me this so I could upload it to everyone here! My upload is capped at about 45 kb/sec by my ISP. Be patient if the family signs me off while I'm at work, etc., :-) I'll be back. I am uploading encrypted due to throttling by my ISP so you will need to accept encrypted connections with your bit torrent client to DIRECTLY download from me or wait until others have (you will then automatically download from them). No cover art that I've done but feel free to create and share within the thread. Lastly, feel free to trade/share this but please do not sell. Enjoy. Chris

??/??/39 Abbey Road Outtakes Unknown Unknown flac URT Vol. 1] is the CD that turned the entire record industry on it's ear. In the late '80's, this (and it's companion, Vol. 2) appeared in record stores in Europe, then the USA, and it contained absolute perfect studio session outtakes of many of the Beatles hits. Nothing of this quality had EVER appeared for any artist. Naturally EMI was furious. But more URT editions continued, as well as the BackTrack series, the Unsurpassed Masters series (allegedly from the same thief who purloined this set) and many more. A case can clearly be made that the notoriety and excitement by URT caused the emergence of archival releases, box sets and other rarities packages that might never have come otherwise. URT is likely one of the most historic and important bootleg releases ever. Oh...and it's REAL GOOD too.

10/31/73 The Record Plant Sausalito CA shn Rastaman Chant > Keep The Faith Bend Down Low Slave Driver You Can't Blame The Youth Stop That Train Burnin' & Lootin' Kinky Reggae Get Up Stand Up Lively Up Yourself Rude Boy This is the correct date for the show that's often mislabeled 12/73 KSAN radio broadcast - the air date was 12/02/73 but it was recorded on 10/31/73. This was recorded shortly after the Wailers were kicked off the Sly & The Family Stone tour for actually drawing more attention than Sly. They were stranded and the K-SAN station booked them at the Matrix Club as well as giving them this Radio time. Lineup: Bob Marley: Guitar and Vocals Peter Tosh: Rhythm Guitar and Vocal Earl 'Wire' Lindo: Keyboards Aston 'Family Man' Barrett: Bass Carlton Barrett: Drums "Walk The Proud Land" is the same song as "Rude Boy", with slightly different text written by Bunny Wailer, but here Bob is singing his lyrics version, so it's called "Rude Boy". Deadlists: COMMENTS Black Mountain Boys: Jerry Garcia, banjo and guitar; David Nelson, mandolin; Sandy Rothman, guitar, Robert Hunter, bass player. Sandy Rothman confirms that this was the second of back-to-back nights at the Tangent in Palo Alto. -- My reasoning for listing Sandy Rothman as guitarist and Robert Hunter as bassist: * Before Homestead On The Farm, someone (Robert Hunter?) says: "We're gonna do a song called Homestead on the Farm. Or, Sandy's gonna sing a song." * Before Two Little Boys, someone (Hunter?) says: "Uh, while Sandy tunes his guitar... The next song is gonna be Two Little Boys... or the name of the next song is gonna be Two Little Boys. The name of the next song *is* Two Little Boys, in fact." * Before Rosalie McFall, Garcia says: "Sandy gets to play... uh, play a lot of stuff on this one here." * Before Love Please Come HomeSo Sandy went and foolishly put new strings on his guitar last month..." * Sandy Troy lists the following personnel ("Captain Trips," Appendix A): Garcia, banjo; David Nelson, mandolin; Robert Hunter, bass; Sandy Rothman, guitar. -- My reasoning for listing as SET2 and SET3 (and not SET1): * Before Sawood Mountain, Garcia mentions: "We figured we'd just stand around this set, you know. . . we played last set" (... so I'm assuming there was another set before this - SET1.) * My tape ends (cuts) during John Hardy with Garcia(?) saying: "Thank you very much for, uh... bearing with us, coming to see us, and... we'll be back in about 20 minut..."(cut) IMO, this is definitely a set break -- but between which two sets? I'm missing the Roll On Buddy->Black Mtn. Rag, so I can't tell where this might belong (but Sandy Troy lists it after Make Me A Pallet On Your Floor - and does not list the John Hardy at all). BTW, there is *not* a cut/splice between Make Me A Pallet and John Hardy on my tape.

These were the days when rock radio stations were programmed by people who actually knew and loved music, rather than the accountants and marketing analysts who now control the airwaves. During this time it was possible to hear, in a single program, music by artists as diverse as the Beatles, Ravi Shankar, and Miles Davis, to name but a few, picked and played by DJs who spoke to, rather than at, their audience. San Francisco’s KMPX-FM was one of those pioneering stations in this adventurous era of radio. They were instrumental in letting the world know about the explosion of great music in the Bay Area in the late 60s. One fine late April evening in 1967, the station’s co-founder, the legendary Tom “Big Daddy” Donahue, invited Phil Lesh and Jerry Garcia to play guest DJs on his nightly KMPX show. Phil and Jerry discussed the Grateful Dead’s then-brand-new debut album (they promised the next one would be much better!), as well as such arcane topics as a top-secret military project to develop a “sound gun” that could kill or maim everyone for miles around with super-low-frequencies. Best of all, they brought along some of their favorite records to play on the air. As you might expect, it was a most unpredictable batch of tunes indeed.

11/14/67 American Studios North Hollywood CA Born Cross-Eyed> Feedback, Dark Star DeadLists notes: The circulating versions of these songs are different from the versions on the single and on "What a Long Strange trip It's Been" (which are the same) and therefore are listed separately. These versions are often found as filler on tapes of the 11/10,11/67 Shrine shows. There is a pause between the end of Born Cross-Eyed and the Feedback. Towards the end of Dark Star Pigpen(?) says "It drags. It drags right there". There is no banjo at the end either, but there is an acoustic guitar heard towards the beginning.

It would seem the band kind of lets her state her piece in its entirety before going into the Other One. Very cool. The whole second CD is very cool. The jam after the Cryptical reprise is great. It goes into a kind of lulling drum beat which goes on for a few minutes (what I called Drums again, even though it isn't in the official setlist) before Phil takes it up and you hear the definite Main Ten bass line. A great Main Ten jam that goes on for about 4 1/2 minutes or so before Bobby takes it into Sugar Magnolia. First version of Sugar Magnolia. Very cool :) No, it doesn't rock, but up until now, the earliest version I'd ever heard was the one from the famed 6/24/70 Cap Theater show, which I thought was unusual enough to be of historical significance. This one is also interesting historically. Between Top of the World and Casey Jones the band sits around talking to the crowd and deciding what to play next. What kills me is Bobby's comment: "Hey, there's a guy over there, he's always over there and he always yells out 'Golden Road!'. I wanna know who he is, because man, you really take the cake. To tell you the truth we've forgotten how to play that song" or something like that. You can also hear several suggestions for songs, among them "White Rabbit", which cracks up the crowd. Great stuff. Let's get it out there. The acoustic set is pretty straight-forward, but it's the electric set I think that really shines. The boys just seems to be having a great time the whole show."

06/21/88 Capitol Theatre Port Chester NY flac lineage: c.m.>dat>dat>cd wave>flac dat transfer, encoded, & uploaded by Rob Berger there's a very minor hum throughout, a couple of cuts, and a couple of drop outs towards the end. commentary: on the face of it, just another seasoned performer entertaining a sold out crowd comprised almost exclusively of drunk white kids from the suberbs. A warm summer solstice '88 at the magical Capitol. Upon further listening I realized there was something much much heavier going on here. Jimmy Cliff has a message. My take on it was that if we love ourselves and our neighbor than this place would be a whole lot cooler. Not such a stretch from the time honored judeo christian ideals. And you can dance to it. The feel good tape of the season. Splendid The Rivers of Babylon Soar Like An Eagle We Are All One World Johnny Too Bad Reggae Down Babylon > Pressure > Hit With Music > Turn The Tables Wild World It's Time Hanging Fire We Don't Want Nuclear War Sitting Here In Limbo Wonderful World, Beautiful People > I Love Reggae Music Many Rivers To Cross Treat The Youth Right Rub A Dub Partner Special
