Notes: This night was very windy. I attended the show personally and noticed how the swirling
wind was making the symbols on the drums sound funky. This seed came to me in SHN Format. I
decoded to WAV. Ran it thru shntool join to make each set one wav. I then tweaked the levels
to bring a more full sound to it. In the mastering I used Stereo Expander, Multiband
Compressor, and Peakmaster. Fades are added on the beginning and ending of each set. D2t01
first few beats are clipped. I had other copies of this one and they all start the same spot
like this one. D3t05 Drop out @ 12:51 removed. D4t02 & D4t04 had digi pops which were copy and
pasted with the oposite channel. |

Sears clock radio/tape recorder > TDK AD-90 Cassette > Pioneer standalone burner > CDR > EAC > SHN
Recorded by Joe Estades during 01-22-1983 re-broadcast using a Sears clock radio/tape recorder and a TDK AD-90 cassette. A/D conversion by Butch Cunningham using a Pioneer standalone burner. EAC>SHN by Barney Rubble.
The story: Right after the Grateful Dead shows in Jamaica (11/82), I moved to Rohnert Park in Sonoma County, Northern California. My best friend ?Oak? was going to Sonoma State University, so we rented a condominium from 11/82 ? 3/23 on the outskirts of Sonoma State. I had the great fortune of catching Van Morrison at the Great American Music Hall, and the JGB at the Keystone and the Stone. But obviously I was there for New Years Eve 1982 and actually helped construct the Red Mushroom float for ziti and free admission. Also saw the Dinosaurs at the Cotati Cabaret 2/18/83. I still have the original Alton Kelly poster framed on my wall.
The tale of the tape: I stashed away the 1/21/83 Garcia interview tape for 20 years and just dug it up by the grace of God a few months ago. Unearthed have you. (The fun did not stop there. I found a 23-year-old master FM of JGB 2/29/80 B that is cut from the cloth.) I recorded the 1/21/83 interview on a Sears clock radio/tape recorder. It did the trick, and now has left us with a very precious interview which no one has heard since then, when it was heard mainly by Sonoma County school bus drivers and the unemployed.
KVRE: A great (now defunct) radio station broadcast the initial interview with Jerry Garcia on 1/21/83 over the air, live at 9:30 am or so (from their studio telephone to Jerry Garcia?s dwelling and telephone). They re-played it the next day around the same time, and that night, the Jerry Garcia Band performed at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, Ca. Great show, and my last JGB show during that stint out West.
Garcia is quite jovial and when you hear the interview for the first time you will get choked up.
Peace and Enjoy!

Notes:
1. shntool confirms tracks on sector boundaries
2. There is an inconsistency in how the Taping Addendum and deadlists treat the 7/29/66 and 7/30/66 dates. The Addendum has this setlist for 7/29/66 while deadlists is a bit confusing but from what I can gather assigns these songs to 7/30/66. the majority of the etree entries for both 7/29/66 and 7/30/66 dates look to have the same setlist.
3. This version of the shns looks to be similar to http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=2243 except that it includes the Viola Lee Blues at the start of set 2 and is assigned to 7/29/66 consistent with the Taper's Compendium. Queries on several Dead trading sites thought this was the best date
4. No significant flaws

This is a disc that was given to me by a fellow student at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998, who wishes to rename nameless. This disc was a project he did on their Pro-Tools Lab using DAT sources with strict no equalization, only mixing. Definately worth a listen, very well done.
The entire setlist is weaved within 01/20/68, Eureka Municipal Auditorium

Phil's amp fails, forcing an unscheduled acoustic set to close the show with. Jerry plays electric guitar for some of the acoustic set. This is also the day that the Dead were busted by the New Orleans police before the show, prompting some appropriate stage banter. The recording was normalized with Sound Forge, which was also used to remove a few small pops. |

Notes:
-Movie by Robert Sands who captured VHS at 3000 kb/s and synchronized audio using Cool Edit Pro by adjusting length of audio to match picture.
-Audio was digitally remastered using a custom built, Dual-DAW nicknamed Bertha,
by jashley@deadacated.com on May 19, 2003.
-MattMan prepared the vcds for trading by using TMPGEnc Plus to merge the individual MPEG-2 tracks,
DVD2AVI to strip audio and video, TMPGEnc Plus to render MPEG-1 and multiplex audio and video back
together, VCDEasy to autopad, and mkwACT to create md5. mcole@med.wayne.edu. May 2004.

Filler Moe At Bonaroo 2004 set 2
NOTES:
*Set 1 was Trey's orchestral set that was very quiet. Pretty much everyone was talking becuase they were rude as hell and wanted their heady band jams, so the tape is far from listenable. Infact, I would doubt that anyone pulled a listenable tape of it, but I might be wrong...
**-with huge firework display to the left of the concert field
-This tape has a few of your common FOB issues (mostly durring the first track). You can hear a beachball hit, and some talking which eventually trails off.
-Durring Sultans of Swing, a firework is thrown towards the left of the stage, exploding dangerously close to the heads of the crowd. I think there are also a couple other firework explosions audable.
