04/14/07 Ancienne Belgique 0 The 2nd (and first full-length) show from this tour. A good solid show with some real funny & sharp dialogue by Efrim & Co.. Two new songs (Tr. 1 & 3) were played and this is the first recording to surface that captures them. The sound quality will not disappoint you fans. The audience was dead quiet (during the songs), and the line array P.A. system sounded excellent and very 'direct' through the whole hall. No cuts, mic obstruction, data compression or any other shortcomings here that occure on many audience recordings. I mastered the recording with Multiband compression, EQ and Limiter VST plugins (see http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad-plug-ins.html) which made the recording sound more 'alive'. I hate it when when a recording sounds processed and unnatural, and so I always attempt to use these tools tastefully and only if required.

05/06/07 Belgie 0 Although this show was actually programmed on the fifth of May, the band only started playing after midnight and so May 6 is the correct date. An intense and explosive performance, probably the best I ever saw them do. The two new songs have really come together by now. The venue was great as well. A small intimate place with a balcony all around the hall, giving the people the opportunity to watch the band from every angle. The band itself seemed to enjoy themselves very much so too. A great way to end this tour.

04/02/08 Voxhall 0 Who would have thought it - the Canadian 7piece pulled off an even more intense show than they did last time they visited Aarhus 4 years ago. Efrim started out with his usual introduction announcing The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band from Montreal playing their 138th show ever. Throughout the show, Efrim and Ian were particularly talkative with each other and the audience. Topics included boredom, experiences from their trip to the venue and cake! All 4 songs from 13Blues were performed as well as one new song (Metal Bird). Encore was 2004-track Microphones In The Trees. 130-150 people witnessed 100 minutes of pure post-rock bliss from A Silver Mt. Zion.

04/12/08 la Maroquinerie 0 Quite a good show, not my favorite though. Efrim was ill and they only played 7 songs. The performance was good, and the sound to despite some tech problems on the 2nd track (1,000,000 Died To Make This Sound). The next show was far better (performance and sound !)
04/13/08 la Maroquinerie 0 One of the best show I've ever seen ! Compare to the day before, it was so impressive. The band was in great fit, and Efrim better despite his illness. They played very loud and seem to be happy. Many parts were differents (check the middle section of 'Metal Bird' and its beautiful strings) and they increase the length of some paterns ('13 Blues'). The 2 new songs are getting better and less clumsy, and the 2 old ones, 'microphones in the trees' and 'hang on to each other' remain beautiful !Enjoy !

11/25/07 Effenaar 0 Although 78 minutes are saved it misses about 10/15 minutes. Don't know why the MD stopped recording during "distortion", but it did. I noticed it after "you are never alone" which is not on this recording and it took some time into "warm" to set the MD levels right to record the rest of the show. At first I wasn't planning to seed this, but Vic and band are at their best so you will enjoy it anyway. I had to remove some bass to save my speakers, but what is left is a great listen. From the hilarious (but low volume) soundcheck till the end.
11/28/07 Lido 0 A big "THANK YOU" to Vic for the allowance to tape this show. This was one of the most intense concerts I've ever attended. It was so steam-packed of powerfull emotions, it nearly hurted. The cast of players are members of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band, Godspeed You! Black Emperor along with Guy Picciotto (Fugazi). This recording is ment to played LOUD ! But if you know the sound of the "Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra" or "Godspeed You! Black Emperor" you will know, you won't get any soft peacefully lullabuy. I took the title from the intructions the guy on the mixing console was given on his set-list sheet.

02/19/08 Epicerie Moderne 0 It was really hot so I had to take my shirt off just after the first song. So you'll hear some disturbing scrub noises, and even during the beginning of song #2 (sorry!). Apart from that, good sound, despite a strange balance between the lower and higher ends of the spectrum. This recording sounds just like it sounded in the venue. Some songs were pretty loud whereas some others were hardly above noise level, so I tried to manage that (noise reduction + compression).
