Tedeschi Trucks Band will head to Japan in October of 2023 for a run of five concerts in three cities, the Derek Trucks– and Susan Tedeschi-led twelve-piece announced on Friday.

The Japanese excursion will begin in Tokyo, where Tedeschi Trucks Band will perform three shows in four nights at Tokyo Dome City Hall on October 18th, 20th, and 21st, respectively. From there, the band will travel to Nagoya for a performance at Zepp Nagoya on Tuesday, October 24th followed by a show at Archiac Hall in Osaka on Wednesday, October 25th. The news of the Japan run is the latest in a string of notable 2023 concert announcements from the band. Among the highlights of the band’s calendar are The Garden Parties, a pair of September arena shows at Boston, MA’s TD Garden (9/27) and New York, NY’s Madison Square Garden (9/29) featuring support from Lukas Nelson + POTR and as yet unannounced special guests. For more information on The Garden Parties, head here. Other notable stops on the schedule include multi-night stints at Vienna VA’s The Wolf Trap (June 27th, June 28th) and Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre (June 28th, June 29th). The group will also deliver headlining performances at the upcoming editions of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA (4/30) and The Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA (7/2).
Tedeschi Trucks Band announced a run of Fall 2023 tour dates in Japan. The five-show trek through the island nation takes place in October.

TTB launch their first Japanese tour since 2019 with a three-show run at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo on October 18, 20 and 21. From there the band heads to Nagoya on October 24. Tedeschi Trucks Band wraps the run on October 25 in Osaka.

Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to Japan for the first time since 2019 on Wednesday. The first of four concerts at the Tokyo Dome saw the band featuring songs from Part I of their 2022 four-part album, I Am The Moon.

TTB kicked off the concert with a complete performance of I Am the Moon I: Crescent beginning with guitarist Susan Tedeschi leading the band through “Hear My Dear” before vocalist Mike Mattison sang lead on his “Fall In.” Susan stepped back to the mic for I Am The Moon’s title track which boasted a fiery slide guitar solo from Derek Trucks. “Circles ‘Round The Sun” came next ahead of Trucks’ instrumental masterpiece “Pasaquan” featuring drummers Tyler Greenwell and Isaac Eddy, bassist Brandon Boone and keyboardist Gabe Dixon. Derek led the five-piece through a nearly 20-minute “Pasaquan” in Tokyo.

After the title track to Tedeschi’s 1998 solo album, Just Won’t Burn, and “Part Of Me” off TTB’s 2013 LP, Made Up Mind, the band got into cover material including Derek and The Dominos’ “Bell Bottom Blues,” Blind Joe Reynolds’ “Outside Woman Blues” and a 12-minute rendering of Dr. John’s “I Walk On Gilded Splinters. The main set also saw the second performance of Derek Trucks Band’s “Swamp Raga” since 2020, as per SetlistFM stats, after the band brough the DTB song back at their recent Garden Party concert in Boston. Followed by the classic “Midnight In Harlem.” TTB closed out the set with Jeff Beck’s “I Want More”/”Beck’s Bolero.” The band performed I Am the Moon IV: Farewell’s “Soul Sweet Song” to kick off the encore. Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped night one with “Made Up Mind.”
