Notes: This was an extremely intimate acoustic show performed in the back of a record store/bar called "Cakeshop" on Manhattan's lower east side. It was an unpublicized gig and only about 40 people were present (not including the band themselves). The room was tiny and the acoustics bad, but the recording came out fairly well considering. It's not without problems though - the mics were jostled a couple of times and there's a minor buzz in the right channel which mostly disappears after the first track. The most noticeable problem comes during "One Last Love Song" when seemingly out of nowhere Tony Robinson pops up with his trumpet standing only a few feet from me. While there is no distortion, the trumpet is rather hot. Dave Rotheray's guitar was plugged into a small amp and the vocals were run through the store's stereo system which was far from ideal for such purpose. Still, this is a very unusual gig for the Beautiful South to play and I hoped fans would appreciate it warts and all.
