Freedom of the City festival (http://www.freedomofthecity.org)

As it can be seen in the printed program of the Freedom of the City festival the evening's concert on the second day was planned to be opened by Tony Marsh and Mark Sanders percussion duo, but Tony Marsh died on April 9, 2012. Later on the site it was announced as trio of John Edwards/Shabaka Hutchings/Mark Sanders. But the actual performance was of the quartet with Jeb Bishop added (it was last minute desicion, I think), Jeb was to perform with Nham Quartet in Cafe Oto the next day (I was planning to come but finally decided to go to another concert). The outcome is an energetic improv more typical for american free jazz than for the music performed at the festival. Jeb Bishop was standing two steps in front of me (nearly touching me with his trombone at times while playing), Mark Sanders behind him, Shabaka Hutchings and John Edwards to the right.
