CommentRegarding the date of this performance, which had been listed as "08/??/72", the lineup is inconsistent with August 1972. In particular, during this performance, B.B. King describes his newest member of the group, Cato Walker III, alto sax player, as "The newest member of the group, just about 5 and a half months".
Earl Turbinton, the previous alto sax player, had departed in approximately Sept 1972. Thus, this show would have been performed in about February/March 1973. According to the Cowtown Ballroom's official website, B.B. King played there on February 19 and on March 19. See http://www.cowbr.com/live/ for more information.
One of those performances was aired on FM radio on March 31, 1973, and is likely the source of soundboard recordings that circulate. It is not yet known which of these performances was broadcast.
Ron Levy – Piano
Milton Hopkins – Guitar
Wilbert Freeman – Bass
Joseph Burton - Trombone
Eddie Rowe - Trumpet
Cato Walker III - Alto Sax
Bobby Forte - Tenor Sax
Louis Hubert - Baritone Sax
Sonny Freeman - Drums
