One long vibrating sequence.
Opening DENOVALI SWINGFEST ESSEN FESTIVAL is an ambient/drone duo from Bremen, Germany. TROUM means DREAM in ancient northern german language, and that's what it is about.
Transforming the unknown dream sequences of one's mind into acoustic vibrating sounds... Or, better read something from their description on their own website...

TROUM's creations are influenced by post-industrial, minimal and drone-music. Both members use guitar, bass, voice, accordion, balalaika, flute, mouth-organ, melodica, gong, field recordings,
pre-recorded-tapes and a diversity of sound-objects to build a kind of multi-layered and highly atmospheric dreaming-muzak. Their sound could be described as "dark atmospheric ambient industrial",
"transcendental noise" or just "Tiefenmusik". TROUM doesn't work with synths, samplers or computer-soundsources, the sounds are created "by hand" to reach a broader sensibility.
TROUM uses a spiral as their logo, expressing the trance-inducing potential of the music and the wish to reach inner, deeper spheres of the mind with it.
Music as a door to unknown & alien dimensions. Music as an expression of the mystery of existence itself.

CommentHoly shit! What is this? Doom-Jazz oder Jazz-Doom? What these four french guys from the Dale Cooper Quartet are creating here for about an hour is nothing short of sensational!
Starting with ambient like dark mooded soundscapes all climaxes in the grande orgiastic finale full of dissonant and distorted weirdness. Hell breaks loose! Woah!
So, of course, this is one of the absolute highlight from this year's Denovali Swingfest, and we are sure that you fellow explorers of the outer orbits will love it! SB.
A few lines from the Denovali site:

"A hint of 50s cool jazz, a truckload of noise and melodies, again tiny references to Twin Peaks' series soundtrack and some ghostly and deep tone voices:
the Dale Cooper Quartet pushes the genre Dark Jazz towards other spaces."

Witxes
Set 1Untitled
CommentThe second day at this year's DENOVALI SWINGFEST, with another bunch of fantastic weird performances.

Opening band are WITXES from France who'll provide your ears with some serious ambient drones culminating in an orgiastic finale during the closing sequence of this 3 quarter of an hour performance.

A few lines from their official homepage...

"Witxes is a sonic entity crashing popular music into singular music. This schizophrenic project, feminine, plural, finds its way in the balance between improvisation and passionate sound research. Roaming, roving and raving are giving birth to melodic spaces fed on colourful sound layers, shimmering textures and residual traces of sonic instants in which everyone can find a place.
far center, forever, witxes"
