CommentAfter the MC5 broke up in late 1972, Fred "Sonic" Smith took some time to dry out, because most of the guys in the band had some kind of drug habit going at the time.
Once he was done, he put together a band called Ascension, which consisted of him on guitar, Michael Davis from the 5 on vocals, Dennis Thompson on drums, and some unnamed guy on bass. They played a total of ten gigs, and this was one of them. It was inside some Detroit bowling alley in the fall of 1973. It's a sounboard recording, where an audio jack was shorting out, which you'll hear on "Shakin' Street."
