Aimee Mann

CommentThis is an edited broadcast from San Francisco's "City Arts" lecture series. These lectures are edited to fill an hour time slot, so this probably isn't the entire lecture. Some language was bleeped out...but you can figure out easily what was said. After the Q&A session, Aimee plays three songs from her next release.

I deleted comments at the beginning, middle, and end by Linda Hunt, the series host; those were generic show announcements and a very brief bio about Aimee, mostly just a list of CD titles.

Tech note: Because my reception of KQED is not so great, I set my receiver for mono reception, which cleaned up the signal noise almost completely.

Set 3
CommentDawn Upshaw, Gilbert Kalish and Sō Percussion perform a program focusing on the expansive limits of song, including the Bay Area premiere of a new work by young American Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw and George Crumb’s Winds of Destiny, based on Civil War folk songs. Both ground-breaking composers expanded vocal techniques and forms to create a dynamic space between traditional European classical vocal music, and the worlds of avant-garde or pop music."
