Finding Shn Id
This page describes how to find a Source ID (also known as a shnid) on db.etree.org.
Please Note: not all recordings have a Source ID. Only recordings from trade friendly artists can have a Source ID. Even then, the artist must have an SourceAdmin and someone has to have entered the Source into the database. Thus, brand new recordings may not have a Source ID yet.
To find the Source ID, use the [query complete database page] and paste one of the 32-digit checksums into the box at the bottom of the page, where it says "Search By Checksum". (The same box appears on the [homepage]). If the Source exists, you will be taken to a web page with a URL that looks like this: http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=29511. The digits at the end of the URL -- 29511, in this example -- are the Source ID.
Source # 29511 is one of many Sources of the Grateful Dead, Barton Hall, 05/08/77 (which is Show ID # 1009). When uploading a torrent of this Source to Lossless Legs or bt.etree.org, you would put 18976 in the box when asked for the 'db.etree.org Source ID'.
You could, also, [browse the source manually] on db.etree.org, finding first the artist then looking for the specific source you have. Click on the show date and you will be directed to an address like the one above. Then, click on the links for each checksum and compare them to the ones you already have. But remember, some popular Shows have a lot of Sources and, like luggage at the airport, they all look alike, so make sure you're right!
