Update Your User Information

The [Update Your User Information] link on the main page is used for changing your name, email address, password, ObfuscatedEmail address, trading notes/comments, how actively you trade, skin used on your list(s), location and what type of media you trade.

When you first SignUp for db.etree, you are asked to pick a user id. To view your show list use the url http://db.etree.org/userid, replacing userid with your own user id.

Your name is the name displayed at the top of your trading list. Changing this will not change your user id. You cannot change your user id.

Your password is changable from this screen. Your password will not be changed it you leave the password fields blank.

Your ObfuscatedEmail address is viewable by anyone. Be sure to read the ObfuscatedEmail page for more information about avoiding spam while, at the same time, making your email address public.

You should make sure you take the time to supply your real email address. You'll need it if you forget your user id or password. If you do not setup your real email address, you will be unable to retreive your user id or password should you forget it, unless you beg one of the site admins for help.

You can specify, using a range of 0 to 5, how actively you trade shows with other people. This is displayed on the [db.etree.org users] page. Setting this low will tell people you're not likely to accept a trade with them out of the blue. Setting this high means you are more likely to trade with someone new.

Your personal trading rules will be displayed above your list. You can put html in these rules to improve the formatting. Allowed tags are: a, br, b, i, u, img. For instance, if you want to add a picture to the top of your list you could use the code <img src="http://w00ks.org/albums/w00ks/aab.jpg"> to display an image located on the Internet at aab.jpg.

This picture will need to already be located on a web page somewhere. If you have a picture on your computer that you wish to use, try image-hosting services like imageshack.us or photobucket.com. Note: do not use the "Picture Link" feature to accomplish this - simply use the code above in the personal trading rules area of your user information.

Another useful tag is <br>, which forces the text that follows to appear on a separate line.

If you have multiple lists you can create a direct link to each list within your trading rules by including this tag: <a href="db.etree.org/userid/listname">xxx</a>. Just replace userid/listname with your user id and the name of the list you want, e.g. "SHN list" or "Grateful Dead" and be sure to type something descriptive instead of "xxx" so your reader has a place to click on.

For example, this text:

Click here to see <a href="db.etree.org/mgoldey/shnflac">my Lossless Audio list</a>.

will look something like this:

Click here to see [my Lossless Audio list].
