Want List

Note: This is a documentation page. Do not place your wantlists here, they will not do any good.

db.etree.org allows each user to have a want list.

How to add shows to your want list

1. You must browse to a specific show detail or use the 'query complete database' link on the main page to find a show detail.
2. Use the Add to Want List link at the bottom of the show detail is a link to add a show.

How to use your want list
There are two ways to view a want list. You can use the link at the top of your list (or anyone elses') to view your want list. This view of the want list is a very basic show date - artist name list and isn't really useful.

The other view of just your want list is linked from the main db.etree.org page as [Your Want List]. This page is very complicated and can be extremly big.

On the Your Want List page, every show you want will be listed individually. The web site will do the following for every show on your list:
Find all users of db.etree.org that have the show you want BUT only display those users that want a show you have.
This allows you to quickly find someone that will likely be a good person to setup a trade with.

Note: if you have a TradingFamily, your want list will only show those users in your trading family that have shows you want and want shows you have. This filtering makes the wantlist page much smaller and limits you to people you already know. You can remove the 'family only' filter by using the link at the top of the page.

Behind the Scenes - Geeky Stuff
Want lists are a simple many to many relationship between users and shows. Because of this simple relationship, you cannot specify a specific source for a show you want. You have to browse through those users that match up with you to find the source you want.
