This is Mike's "epiphany" show...he had it some time during the Whipping Post Jam. This whole show segment is low on lyrics and heavy on jamming. |

Not bad sound for this early! Pretty energetic and fluid; my favorite Jeff-era tape. Some not-seen-elsewhere Dead covers, much banter, and a few earliest-known versions of Phish originals. |

This is apparently set 3 only, plus Back Porch Boogie Blues (labelled "Jam" in my text file from Furthurnet) and Icculus (incomplete) from a different set. An interesting show, though. Everything from "Dog Log" on is especially worth it, and "Tush" is introduced as a Barry Mannilow song ;) |

This show is very amusing and fun and energetic in general, similar to 5-28-89 and 5-26-89. The Fluffhead is aborted due to a fire alarm, and when they return, a "You Shook Me All Night Long" jam segues into Fluff's Travels. The other highlights are at the end; a hilariously drawn out Love You, and by far the FUNNIEST Harpua I've ever heard. Worth it for Harpua alone. |

MUST-own show. I think the sound's a little thin and the performance a little overrated, but it's still GREAT. It's all worth it, from the "poop" YEM to the Ninja Custodian cameo to...everything else. |

My copy DOES have David Bowie from the different source. Sound is a bit rougher there (B+) but still good, though the last 30 seconds or so are cut. Highlights include Bowie (very twisted), In A Hole (very charming), and Fishman's Gull Poem (very silly). |

B+ sound rating because the first disc is very crisp and clear, and the second disc is much murkier, probably from a much higher generation. Performance-wise, it's fascinating. Dog Log with JAM, Runuway Jim with extra lyrics, and old version of Rift are among the highlights. |

First 1992 show. Debut of many "Rift" songs, and the first public explanation of the Secret Language after an exploratory David Bowie intro chock full of it. I'm skeptical about the SBD origin (much crowd noise at times), and this version is sadly at too high a speed, but still nice to hear. |

I think the second set is fairly notable. I like the 2001, Tweezer and Coil that open it and the Faht later on. The most significant thing, though is a Mike's Groove with Leprechaun in the middle. Excellent show, one of the best of Summer 1995 easily. Both sets are great, really. Opens with a great Halley's > DWD, and also contains Esther and Cry Baby Cry. Decent Split to close the first set, plus one of the few-ever Spock's Brain performances. The second set has a long Mike's > Contact > Paug that I find really damn interesting. I very much like the whole second set. Timbo Ho opens, followed by the funniest Kung I've ever heard. Mike's Song has an amusing instrument rotation jam, the Paug has some WAILING from Page, etc. But the real kicker is the great Poor Heart-fest they pulled on fans, as the song gets played about 2 and a half times this night.
