Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.

11/27/80 Capitol Theatre cd 2 Black Sabbath Capitol Theatre, Sydney, Australia November 27th, 1980 Yeoman remaster 0613 This is a best-sources mix compiled from the following sources: Source 1: 1st generation FM version* Source 2: Bringer of evil (Power Gate-100)** Source 3: 4th generation SB version*** Three different sources are available from this wonderful show and all of them have their advantages and disadvantages. The 1st generation FM version has the best sound, best frequency range and the least deterioration. However it stops somewhere during the first few minutes of "Die young" and also omits much of the drum solo. An artificial audience track was added to it in post-production, probably by the radio station. "Bringer of evil" is more complete and sounds quite good, but not as good as the FM version. However, this version has a strange edit, which was probably made to fit the show onto one disc. It misses some of the intro "Supertzar", has the "Die young intro", but leaves out the whole guitar solo and the count in to what I called "Die young (reprise)", apparently to make listeners believe that "Die young" was played like that on the evening. After "Die young" some of Dio's words are missing as well as a few seconds at the beginning of "Paranoid", again to hide the fact that the song is incomplete. The 4th generation SB version is the most complete version, but has the weakest sound of the three available sources. While it is more complete than the other two sources it lacks the beginning of "Heaven and hell" available on the FM recording.

Very early in the tour for them perform here, usually it's scheduled at the end. The first night is sonic perfection, performance wise. Robert' voice is in great shape, although he suffers on the second night. The sound is a bit distant, with the bass and drums slightly louder in the mix. The guitar and vocals seems to float above the this all. Jimmy means business right from the start with a great solo in 'The Immigrant Song'.Bonzo is the star in 'Heartbreaker', although Jimmy' solo spot is also great

08/01/80 Earls Court Exhibition Hall dvd 1 Pink Floyd Earl's Court, London 1 August 1980 "The Wall Rehearsal" Format: NTSC/PCM Mono Lineage: PAL VHS Master > AVI (PAL) > MPEG-2 (NTSC)/PCM Mono Captured, edited and converted with Vegas 6 Mother* Goodbye Blue Sky Empty Spaces Young Lust One of My Turns Another Brick in the Wall (Part 3)* Goodbye Cruel World* Is There Anybody Out There?* Nobody Home Vera* Bring the Boys Back Home Comfortably Numb In The Flesh Run Like Hell* Waiting For The Worms* Running Time: Approx 45 mins *incomplete Shot on a tripod from the left balcony, Mal was able to capture a good part of Pink Floyd rehearsing The Wall at Earl's Court. The tape has faired well over the years and I was able to pull off a pretty decent transfer from this VHS relic. I tweaked the image a bit adding a tad of contrast and brightness to deepen the blacks without losing any of the details. Please note that during "Goodbye Blue Sky" the camera zooms in to focus on the images on the screen. The camera remains here until the start of "One of My Turns" so unfortunately "Empty Spaces" and "Young Lust" do not show any images of the stage or musicians. In fact, the latter only features the lights on Mr Screen and I'm assuming that the camera was left shooting on the tripod without being checked until a few sonngs later. Anyone who doesn't want to sit through this can simply advance to the next track. This DVD contains the full contents of the master VHS tape. The only time I added short dissolves was to cut out the points where the camera was paused and then started again, causing severe tape glitches and audio distortion. (excerpt from Mal's original post on YouTube) "I was fortunate enough to have a tenancy at Earls Court which expired at Midnight. I was asked if the band could rehearse, given the hall was contractually still mine. I had no objection. I rushed home, picked up my "steam powered VHS" and filmed what I could. It's been hidden away for 27 years, I recently got the tape out, had a quick edit and posted." A big thanks to Mal for digging this up, trusting me with his master, and for sharing it with us all! Enjoy! RonToon (April 2008)

Nobody Home Vera Bring The Boys Back Home Comfortably Numb The Show Must Go On In The Flesh Run Like Hell Waiting For The Worms Stop The Trial Outside the Wall All songs are chapter indexed. The foundation of all the footage (and audio) was taken from 9/20. Additional shots are from the 9/21, 10/12 and 10/13 shows and all are from tapehead2's HD master files. Thanks to all those who shared their footage for this project. Thanks once again to the HVR team, MOB for the appropriate EQ work and Big Ed for checking and correcting, and for the quick turn around. Thanks to Chris for the artwork, you always have the coolest sigs on the forum. Thanks to Rick B. for this and 30+ years of recording shows in Chicago. But the biggest thanks of all goes to my new friend tapehead2 (TH2) for shooting these shows so brilliantly. After posting the initial clips on YouTube I contacted TH2 to see if a multi-camera edit was ever considered. The response was that TH2 wished for the shows to be shared "as is". I decided to cut together a few songs just to show TH2 the possibilities and after watching them on YouTube agreed to send me the master HD footage. The 9/20 and 9/21 shows cut together beautifully, but I still wished that we had a few more shots covered. Since TH2 had tickets to the Nassau Coliseum shows and was planning on shooting them as well I offered some camera suggestions, a lot of them in fact, to get some of the shots I still wanted. The dude abides. So thanks to TH2 for the ultimate sacrifice of not being able to enjoy these shows like the rest of us have. That's a hefty price, especially when considering that Pink Floyd isn't on the top of TH2's favorites list. Perhaps inspired by being embraced by the PF "communities" has changed that? And of course thanks to Roger for putting on such a kick ass show. This was great fun and a labor of love. The biggest challenge was not in the synching up of all the various shows. Since this is all run to a precise click track synchronization was fairly easy. The challenge was finding matching choreography from shot to shot while at the same time retaining my shot preference and length as well. I'm sure you'll find a few transitions that reveal such continuity blunders, but I'll bet that there's even more that you don't catch. It's amazing how much did actually work. It's all part of the fun and we hope you enjoy the product of our collaboration. Released on Veteran's Day (November 11, 2010) and dedicated to all fallen loved ones. Enjoy!
