All Tradable Non-Tradable

1. More Dead is good Dead. 2. I prefer SHN whenever possible. While I try to avoid trading CDR's due to the potential for generational issues, I will accept them if it's the only source available (see rule 1). I do use EAC (properly) when necessary on an UltraPlex WIDE to SCSI-3 HDD. 3. If you're just getting started I'd be happy to BnP tunes for you, provided that you follow the etree guidelines. Just ask. I will burn on whatever you send. 4. I'm currently burning Mitsui Gold on a Plextor 16 and 24. In trade I'll accept Fuji, Kodak, Mitsui (any TY), but absolutely NO SONY 650's, ever. Please. The top coating on all of these I've received have flaked off in places, making the discs unreadable (and these are discs which have been read once and stored). 5. I mail all trades in bubble mailers and caselogic(style) sleeves, and request at least some sort of sleeve. No fiber mailers, please. I've really enjoyed the trading I've done so far, and I look forward to the future. A HUGE thanks to Etree, what a sweet system!!

Adam Jerugim obtained a CDR copy, EAC'd and uploaded it to orf.cx. Leigh Orf did all the post-processing (Sound Forge stuff). Note: This is *not* the Betty Board source which has circulated before. This source came from a different two-track master reel (made by the folks filming the Sunshine Daydream movie) and is mixed differently.

10/19/74 1974 Winterland Arena SHN 2 A "sbd" This topic generates large amounts of message traffic on Deadlists. Briefly, the "Wall of Sound" was a fundamentally different type of sound system where each musician adjusted the levels of their own instruments. Owsley Stanley (Bear) claims that there can be no soundboard recordings because there wasn't a soundboard. During these "retirement" concerts there were apparently many recordings made, some of which were released as "Steal Your Face". There is a rumor that this recording is a copy of a rough mix cassette made for SYF provided to the taping community by Jerry Wexler's son or nephew (or something like that), along with 10.18.74 and 10.20.74. These shows came from the Frank's Picks tree, round 4

08/14/94 1994 Warfield Theater SHN 2 A- "This show was transferred from cassette master but didn't have the headers and footers of cassette hiss removed, nor the tape flips. I stitched the wavs together using Add-a-Wav, creating one large wav for each set. I normalized each set using EAC's process wav and normalize functions, boosting the peak level from 65% to 98.9%. I removed hiss at the begining and end of sets, removed the tape flip in the middle of each set, and faded the ends of each set using Wave Studio. When removed, the tape flip in the first set, between Mississippi Moon & Lay Down Sally, made an unsmooth transition. This was smoothed with a fade. The tape flip in the second set was removed and the transition was smooth. The large wavs were retracked using CDWav and converted to SHN with embedded seektables using mkwACT."

12/16/68 1968 The Matrix SHN 1 A from Bill Gadsden: All of the Matrix material, 10/8/68, 11/10/68, 10/30/68, 12/16/68, 12/24/68, 7/30/70, and 12/15/70 was copied by yours truly and my taping partner, Peter Kafer, in 1974 from 7" 1/4 track reels that we borrowed from Peter Abram, proprietor of the Matrix. We copied it all onto Maxell reels @ 7 1/2 ips. The stuff I just sent you was copied from those Maxell reels directly to CD using an Alesis Masterlink, sampling @ 24 bit, 96k. I played the reels on a Revox B77. The question mark with regard to the lineage is whether Abram's 2-tracks were copies of 4-track masters, or were masters themselves.
