COMMENTS Total time [2:15:05 +]. If the structure of this show was the
same as on 6/5/70, then the acoustic set opened the evening, followed by
sets from Southern Comfort and NRPS with Garcia on pedal steel, and then the
Dead closed out the evening with their electric set (SET 2).
Don't Ease Me In through Swing Low Sweet Chariot are acoustic; for the rest
of the first set Garcia plays electric guitar & Weir acoustic. David Nelson
plays mandolin on Cold Jordan and Swing Low, and he and Marmaduke contribute
backup vocals. Before Cumberland Blues Garcia says "we're gonna do a few
semi-electric numbers. We've got a million new labels." There is a short
cut at 2:48 of Cumberland. Marmaduke adds backup vocals to Me And My Uncle.
During the Cryptical Reprise jam Hunter is heard off mic raving away.
During the pause after the Teddy Bear's Picnic tease Garcia says "We're
waiting aound till a good idea comes up" and Weir remonstrates with someone
in the audience requesting "Golden Road." Someone adds quasi-intelligible
additional vocals to the opening of Cosmic Charlie. The encore is according
to Rob Eaton; it does not appear on the circulating copies of the tapes.
Eaton lists:

My Sweet One performed acoustic and without mics, inaudible, and
missing from recording.
Carolina also performed without mics, missing.
2 flaws occur in the original recording that should be noted...
First few seconds of Stash are missing, I faded it in to make it
sound better. Also, there are a few seconds missing from the middle
of Fluffhead, right before Bundle Of Joy. I did not fade this one.
Both of these flaws are because of analog tape flips on the original
recording, and are very quick. Frankly, the quality of the recording
more than makes up for it!

*Followed by Trey introducing the band, including Jon as "Bob Weaver", Mike as "Michael Jordan" and himself as the "Skinny Guinea" (pulls up his shirt to show how skinny he is); he then encouraged people to start clapping along while he clapped in an offbeat rhythm before slapping himself on the cheek and then the forehead and encouraging people to slap the face of the person next to them, but no one did. He then encouraged people to get naked and make passionate love, but again no one did. After the song he told that the passionate lovemaking portion of the show was over and that he apologized for not giving them more time. **Unfinished. ***First time played; pronounced "Gee-For-Jay" (a tennis player's name); Trey on keyboards; similar to recent versions of "Catapult"; included lyrics something to the effect of "I never met a man I could not forget except for Guy Forget"; soundchecked back as far as February 1993. ****Trey set up a feedback loop, took off his guitar and began swinging it around while manipulating the pitch using his foot pedals; as a result Page played the ascending riff at the end because Trey hadn't put his guitar back on in time. |

There are two clicks at d1t2 5:27 and 7:35 but these appear to be in the
original recording and are not diginoise. Also, there is a large noise
at d1t2 9:22.5 that is a balloon hitting the mikes.
