JAY'S PERSONAL COMMENTS:
It's REALLY AMAZING that I find a LOT of 1966-68 shows which sound better than a lot of the 1970's reel to reel-originated shows, and even a lot of the early PCM shows. NOTE: When PCM was first made available on the commercial market, it was only limited to 8 bit quality sound, and would only work with certain Sony BetaMax videocassette decks. As time and technology grew, the PCM units became easier to use, they would work will almost ANY VCR (be it VHS or the now-dying BetaMax formats)... and finally they were able to get 16-bit sound to work CORRECTLY around the mid-1980's.
But, a little known factoid about the sound quality: the Dead weren't always the ones who were setting up the RTR decks. The record companies were bringing in the Otari 2" 4 and 8 track decks which ran at a minimum of 15 i.p.s., and were able to be better calibrated to more brands and formulations of open reel tape. This is why a lot of these shows sound so pristine... but yet there were a lot of reel changes (when there weren't two RTR decks there... one to run, and the other on "standby" so that the recording could be started as the first deck began to run out of tape! So, this is why some shows literally have no gaps where the reels were changed!
It is my understanding that for this show, a single Otari 4 track 1" wide tape running at 7.5 i.p.s. was used. Some of the songs from this Fillmore run were going to be used as promos, and possibly as a live album early on. The record companies were REALLY hot on the Dead, and they wanted the Boyz to also try new songs to see how they would be received by the audience, as well as how they would sound live. Hence, "one-offs" like In The Pines, Cardboard Cowboy, were played, and then evaluated by the record companies.
The PCM archive tape is deteriorating, as can be heard in the left (vocals) channel (only). On very loud vocal peaks, you can just hear a very slight distortion. It's not really as bad as it look "in print", but it can be heard. Again, it's only during the loudest vocals, and not on any of the instruments (right channel). This is a problem inherent to ALL tape-based media, in that it will deteriorate over time. Thank goodness that the Vault is very regulated as far as it's climate, air quality and purity, and that a lot of shows are being re-archived onto non-tape-based media.
In The Pines and Cardboard Cowboy are FIRST / LAST / ONLY TIMES PLAYED songs. In The Pines is good, a song of sorrow. But Cardboard Cowboy, I can live without. It just doesn't "make it" with me. Other people like it, maybe because it's very rare to hear a good quality copy of it, or to even hear it at all, or just because it's a Dead song... who knows?!?!?
The entire show had an "energy" to it, but not a very high level. There weren't any real between-song lulls like we've come to expect, and sometimes it can be heard when the guitars are slightly out of tune (and adjusted during the songs). Bobby is pretty prominent in the mix, Pig's organ is really present (no dirty jokes, please!), but Jerry's guitar, depending on the song and how attentive the engineers were at any point in time, was either present, low volume (being picked up by the other instrument microphones nearby, or "invisible" for very short periods of time. It never ceases to amaze me that audio engineers, especially with the Dead and the Fillmore's own crew, who were excellent most of the time, could be so ignorant of the fact that things weren't right! But, that just makes the show all that much more interesting, I would imagine!
This is the ENTIRE show... all songs are included, so you get the "feel" of how things were played back then. Short sets, a lot of bands for the evening, nothing like what we've been accustomed to for the past 20 years. I personally did see a few of these "huge number of artists" shows back in my early days, and it had a circus-like atmosphere sometimes. Depending on who was playing, everyone shared everyone else's amps, drum sets, etc. Even the Dead did, though they would bring out quite a bit of their own equipment to supplement what was on stage. And there was only about 10-15 minutes between acts, so either you rushed to the washroom, or you "held it in" for 3-plus hours. The Fillmore did have a curfew, which USUALLY was enforced, but sometimes they would run over. Bill Graham always tried to orchestrate the start time of the shows so that every group got a pretty good amount of time, but there were a number of shows where some groups only got to play 3 or 4 songs, as the band(s) before them ran long, or the "headline" act(s) were going to play long.
As with the 7/16/66 show which I uploaded here, this show will fit onto a single 74-minute CD (in fact, you can put BOTH the 7/16/66 and 7/17/66 shows onto a single 74-minute CD with 2 minutes to spare!). NONE of the shows I upload to GDLive will ever require "overburning", as that goes against a number of industry standards (one being that the maximum allowable recording time be 76:14). And some people's equipment cannot play back correctly the 80 minute discs which are prevalent lately. Not to mention that unless your CD-R/RW recorder specifically is made to record 80 minute discs, there's going to be problems with the recording (it's technical, but the abbreviated version is that the stepping motor, which positions the recording laser, can only be positioned in certain designated spots, and cannot go "between" point A and point B on the disc... if it tries to, it can partially overwrite what has been already recorded onto the media).
Enjoy the show!
PERSONAL RATINGS: (on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being excellent)
Audio Mix: 9.2 (Jerry's disappearing act is what lowered this rating)
Audio Quality: 9.7
Energy Level: 8.5
Show "Completeness": 10.0 (entire set)
Song Selection: For the time period, nothing out of the ordinary at all.
Surprises: In The Pines and Cardboard Cowboy

Notes
-----
"From Good Ole San Francisco, the Good Ole Grateful Dead". This is a very interesting tape, recorded as the band was moving from the Live/Dead sound to the Workingman's Dead sound. Note the C&W twang in Bob Weir's voice and the alternative arrangements in some familiar songs. According to Deadlists, Jerry plays pedal steel guitar on "Slewfoot" , on "Dire Wolf" (Weir on vocals!) and on "Green Grass". Deadlists also shows "The Eleven", but I've also seen this called "William Tell Jam". In any case, I didn't separate it out from "St. Stephen" with a track marker.
I digitized this from a cassette which, as represented to me, was made by Dick Latvala.
Apparently, the original recording of "Slewfoot" had the levels set too high for the first several seconds of the song. On the cassette, this portion didn't appear to be saturated, but did have higher levels than the rest of the tape. This portion was captured separately from the rest of the tape, then spliced together later. This explains the distorted sound at the beginning even though the average level is the same throughout. The rest of the song is in pretty good shape, but the subsequent songs sound much better.
There is some tape noise in "Dire Wolf", which is sung by Bob Weir. "Baby Blue" has an internal cut, plus it is clipped at the end.

-------------------------------------------------------
Thelma Theater, Los Angeles, December 10, 11 & 12, 1969 Copies from the soundboard reels of these shows have circulated since the '70s, sometimes mislabled "Kaleidoscope Theater, LA," often with dates and sequences mixed up, usually in badly degraded sound quality. This set assembles complete copies of the 11th and the 12th in the best quality circulating. Except for the middle portion of the 11th, sound is excellent throughout; this inferior segment is listenable while leaving definite room for improvement if an upgrade shows up; we haven't been able to find one & don't want to delay further. Many people gave help on the way to creating this set of CDs. Dave Greenberg did the final masters. Jack Warner was instrumental in providing the difficult composite for the 2nd disc of 12/11/69, which was first mastered by Scott Clugston. RB, KW, JN and HB also provided important assistance. Jim Powell instigated the project and writes these notes. SHN conversion by Jay Gerland.tes these notes. SHN conversion by Jay Gerland. |

From Jay Serafin:
All of the information about this show was obtained/confirmed by my Marin County source. This person is as close to being "inside the organization itself" as anyone can be, and this person has NEVER given me bad or erroneous information for the past 5 years!
And what a show this is, too! It was actually an unannounced impromptu show in the middle of the Dead's Fillmore East run. The venue only held approximately 500 people, and it was a first-come, first-served show. Most of the seats were removed to allow some additional "SRO" concertgoers. The NYC Fire Department was on hand to enforce the "maximum number of patrons"
restrictions, just to play it safe.
"We" were lucky that the Dead's audio people brought along one of the spare 2-track RTR decks. "We" were also lucky from the standpoint of having a 95% hiss-free recording to begin with, as the deck was running at twice the normal "regular show" taping speed. This translates into lower levels of analog tape hiss, as well as having more high frequency recording
capabilities. This show, for being set up in a hurry, was very well mixed. Jerry and Bobby each had their own channel for their guitars, and listening to how well Weir blended into the entire mix is very well "documented" with this recording. About the only negative I can say about this show's audio quality was that being in the small club, and most likely with the time frame the audio people had to set up, the drums are just a little buried in the mix, especially the cymbals. But, you still are going to get blown away by the audio quality of the show.
DeadBase states a few things about this show that are inaccurate, such as "actual date and location unknown". This is not true, according to my source. This show did happen on this date at this venue.
Sadly, because of the license and insurance the night club held, the show only lasted a little over an hour an 30 minutes. There are no "breaks" or "tape flips", as the band simply was given a "signal" to cut a song off, so that the RTR could have a new tape put on. All the songs are complete and unedited. The only "exception" to this was my decision to cut off the very
opening 20 seconds of the first song, "Cold Rain & Snow", simply because of the fade-in of the copy I received wasn't right. Since the volume levels on the recording I received were very low, when I went to bring everything up to the correct level, the CR&S fade-in would have sounded pretty bad. I opted to just cut off the bare minimum of the opening riff to make things
sound "correct".
I guess the "topper" to this show, besides the fantastic sound, the good mix, and everything else, is that Phil was just going off into the ozone on a couple of the songs. He wasn't "way out there", but he definitely was trying to travel down that road that made him such an integral part of the "Sound Of The Dead". He's got some very good riffs going, especially during "Good Lovin'" and "Saint Stephen". Garcia and Weir were playing off each other, and you can tell they were in their groove this night. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it is quite noticeable, but they just "clicked".
The audience, although they weren't "recorded" for ambience, could be heard in the distance between songs, and you can tell that they definitely got their money's worth. I imagine the closeness, proximity-wise, along with the small-club atmosphere, is what brought out the best in everyone's playing for this show. I've seen my fair share of Dead shows over the 30 years they played, and I personally felt that they played their best when they were either being simulcast over the radio, or when they played smaller venues. I've been everywhere in the audience at shows, from the front row at the '94 Soldier Field show to the soundboard at the Rosemont, to back of the Fillmore West, to the front of the crowd at Loyola. Again, I felt the
smaller the venue, or any time they were on the FM dial, the shows were better, tighter yet looser, and definitely they seemed to have more fun on stage.
Sorry for going off on that little tangent there, but I felt that bit of info may make you deciding to get this show a little easier. I would recommend it to anyone, from a "newbie" to someone with 4,000 hours in their library. This is a pristine copy, and I think that everyone should have this as part of their collection.

SET 1 is acoustic Dead, the complete set. David Grisman plays mandolin on
Friend Of The Devil, David Nelson joins with another mandolin on Big RR
Blues; both continue through Ripple. There is a hint of harmonica on Dark
Hollow, presumably Pigpen's. The instrumentation on To Lay Me Down is hard
to figure but the electric guitar is probably Bobby and Jim Wise may be
right that the piano is Jerry on this tune. The piano on Truckin is Pigpen,
however. Nelson & Grisman return on mandolin for Rosalie McFall. Jerry
switches to electric guitar for Cumberland and New Speedway, then back to
acoustic for Brokedown Palace. Pigpen plays piano again on this tune.
IMO I think you can hear some mandolin on the Deep Elem too, judge for yourself though. mtuttle@willamette.edu |

Notes: Notes: Growing up near Princeton, this show was one of the first dead tapes I ever heard. My copy was probably S:RCCCCCCCCCCC but I loved it anyway. I later received a much better copy (sounded like 2-3 analog gens) with a really lame flip at 45 minutes (aka middle of King Bee). When I first got my DAT deck, a kind soul (thanks Mike) spun me a copy of the set. This copy had a cut in Lovelight but beat the analogs any day. I finally found a copy without the infamous cut in Lovelight and decent levels to boot. Since this set was worth the trouble of getting different copies at least 5 times, I figured that I'd distribute it further than it has been until now.
The lineage of these files is:
Main: S:R?D DAT was downsampled into my computer via ZA2 (48>44.1, healy master to DAT, multi-track remix, 96bit A>D conversion.
This tape is NOT an A+. This is from a reel made in 1971, so you will hear some rough bits. To the best of my knowledge, this transfer represents the best circulating copy in existence. Rod Nayfield rod@nycheads.com with thanks to D.H
The Main tape sounds much better than the dub - which is only used for 1.1 seconds (want to find it? Listen to the last time the guys say "the blues" in Bobbi McGee)
Given the differences in the reel flip (at the end of lovelight)
I would guess that the 'Main' tape represents a separate A>D transfer than
the 'Dub' tape. If you know more, I'd love to hear about it.

EQ were performed using 100% digital-only processing (32-bit/196 kHz data stream) at Serafin Station Studio B [this show was released in 10/01]
JAY'S PERSONAL COMMENTS:
I have to say this was probably one of the most difficult shows I ever had to work on... EVER! Many reasons for this are able to be disclosed (which they will be), but some are verified confidential information which came from my Marin County source who sent me the best possible masters for this show.
Set I and II: Due to the tape reels being plastic, rather than the usual metal type, when the tapes were archived to PCM, there were static problems which occurred due to the ambient electrical charges which occur when tape reels are fast forwarded and fast rewound to "loosen up" the tape. The static discharged through the tape layers, rather than through the metal reels, so the audio wound up becoming filled with little "pops, ticks, and crackles" throughout a lot of the layers of tape.
To eliminate these very annoying (and very audible!) noises, I had to MANUALLY do and edit them out. Close to 3,000 total edits were performed for Set I and almost 2,500 edits for this same problem for Set II. This is why it took close to 8 weeks of work to get this show completed. Of course, I was working on other shows as well, but 90% of the time spent on this wonderful show was on literally looking at every second of audio, scrolling slowly forward, to find these problems. It would have been "nicer" if the static pops were almost identical in their waveform, as I could have had the editing software find them for me, and I would just edit them out. But, they varied to much in the way they appeared in the audio, that there was no "automatic" way to find these little buggers. I spent close to 120 hours on finding these items, but then I was done, I only had to "eliminate" less than 45 total seconds from the entire show, due to my not being able to correct the static noise by simply removing the offending part of the sample (each static "pop" was approximately 0.00025 seconds in length, so just eliminating the deformed part of the waveform too very little time away from the entire show), but having to eliminate an entire sample or part of a waveform (about 0.001 seconds in length). But the elimination of these annoying parts did not affect the way the end result audio sounds. There's no "stuttering" or noticeable missing audio. By performing the editing the way I did, it eliminated all of this "unwanted perverting" of the audio. There are only a few very minor pops left, which could not be eliminated without affecting the audio as a whole, so I simply lowered the volume of the offending noise, so it's just barely perceptible. With the usual amount of original RTR analog tape hiss from the decks being used at the slow speed, plus the analog transfer of the RTR > PCM (they did not do it in the digital domain for reasons I cannot divulge here), there was a fair amount of hiss throughout Sets I and II. I was able to reduce the amount by more than 85%, but there is still a very slight amount of hiss left, which is only noticeable during the between-song lulls, tunings, and the stage announcement, and ONLY if you have your audio cranked up REALLY HIGH! The amount of hiss I was able to remove, without affecting the audio, was so "massive", there were parts of the between song lulls where the band members were talking amongst themselves, etc., and that could not be heard at all, due to the original hiss. Now, you are able to hear EVERYTHING that was originally fed into the RTR decks!
Set III: This came from a totally different set of archive tapes, which had more underlying hiss to them (due to the extra PCM transfer in the lineage), but the overall audio was better them most of the versions out there. So, even more noise reduction using different techniques, was used, and the result was close (and to a slight degree, even better than the Set I/II reduction!). There was a point, beginning with "Sing Me Back Home", where you could hear that someone did some adjustment to the RTR deck, and this hiss rose dramatically from that point to the end of the show. So, not only was I faced with a "different" type of hiss, I had to now "match" the EQ curve of the audio to anything prior to that song! It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun, as this was one of my most challenging releases of a show I had ever attempted.
Overall, there is a LOT more total show audio than in almost all of the versions in circulation. Close to 10 minutes of "additional material" is in this release.
To perform all of the special static noise, I had to revert to converting the show from it's usual 16-bit/48.0 kHz data rate to the highest rates my software, sound card, and digital mixer can handle, which is 32-bit / 192 kHz sampling rate! This is better than DVD's audio, which is 24-bit/96 kHz sampling. But I needed to see more of the waveform, and to be able to manipulate the waveforms in such a precise manner. When I "down-converted" the audio to the standard for CD's, which is 16-bit / 44.1 kHz, I was able to move the quantization noise up into the 20 kHz range, which is well past the point if human hearing. Also, since this show contained very little in the way of high levels of audio above 14 kHz, it did not affect the "harmonics" and the subtle nuances which a lot of people would hear up in the 18-20 kHz audio range with a lot of music. So, everyone will hear all of the audio just as is was recorded onto the RTR decks, only with a much cleaner sound. I had to perform very little in the way of "trimming" of the show's audio for the reel flips and the PCM tape changes. From my editing notes, I was able to remove just under 50 total seconds of total show audio to perform the necessary crossfades. This is the best I could do with the masters I received, and I hope that everyone is happy with the results. I certainly was, and I am never totally happy with my "final release" versions of any show I've ever worked on!

NOTES
Flaw-free, from a digital perspective. All the "Dead Air"
has been cut from between tracks. There is some amplifier
hum that is audible (particularly at the beginning of Stella
Blue) and it sounds like someone kicks an amp 3:35 into
Might As Well. There is a brief overlap from disc 2 to disc
3 (Phil pounds out the intro to the TOO at the very end of
disc 2, and disc 3 starts right there with that intro).
This came to me via trade from Jay Ashley (thanks!) who
copied my CDs from his CDs, and I did the DAE extraction and
compression to SHN. Enjoy!

Ahhhhh. Normal Illinois.
Long one of my favorite shows;
for some unknown reason it doesn't circulate much.
This show came to me on a DBX encoded reel in 1979.
I was told at the time that it was an edited dub off
the master reel, but listening to it critically,
there's too much hiss for that. I still have that reel,
transfered from it directly to dat. From Dat, it went
through a Digi96 card to my hard disk.
Sound Forge was used to normalize, anti-alias and resample to 44.1,
then CD WAV to track it out. Those WAV files were directly
converted to SHN.
I hope that spreading this copy causes an even better one to
arise out there, because this show deserves some attention.
It has never failed to stop the conversation at any gathering
where I've played it.
Enjoy!

DAT>ZA2>Soundforge 4.0>CD WAV>.SHN
A>D and DAT>CD by Jamie Lutch
Editing in soundforge:
Normalized peaks to 0dB, crossfaded the cassette flip in Fluffhead, and took out some of the worst analog pops. There is still some analog anomalies in here (mainly in the right channel), but this show rocks, period!

1. Funky Bitch
2. Mike's Song->
3. I Am Hydrogen->
4. Alumni Blues-> Letter to Jimmy Page -> Alumni Blues
5. YEM->

first live Gamehendge narration
-t04 3:27-3:34 level fluctuations
-t05 1:53-1:54 level fluctuations
-t06 diginoise at very beginning
-t07 some minor skipping
-t08 recording problems at end during banter (not narration)
-t09 recording cuts at 8:21 - on all copies that I have seen
-During very quiet sections, it seems that background music can be heard -- either there was music in the background at the show or the taper did not use a new tape, so there was bleeding from a previous recording.
Who knows, maybe there is a lost recording underneath this show. :-)
Fixes:
-Applied SF4.5 Pitch Shift at a setting of -80 cents to all tracks to compensate for the sped up recording.
Retracked entire show so the beginning of the music starts at the beginning of each track. |

transfered: tascam da20 mkII>za2>wav>shn using soundforge and cdwav.
this is definitely a sbd recording. i had to edit out tapeflips at around 47 minutes into each set, therefor proving to me it is a sbd. it was labeled to me as only 1 cass gen, and the only really irritating analog hiss is between songs, and when it is really quiet, other than that this recording sounds really sweet!
this is one of those classic great second sets where you can tell that the band could have cared less if there was an audience, they were just haveing a hell of a good time entertaining themselves. a must have in my opinion!!!
DISC 2 IS SET 2 IN IT'S ENTIRETY AND IS TRACKED FOR AN ****80 min CD****

*DSBD/Matrix is the source that was given to me. However, this show does not
appear on Phil Nazzaro's Phish SBDs List, and it just doesn't seem like a sbd
to my ears. Regardless of whether it is a sbd or aud recording, it sounds
excellent. Also, I do not know who did the original transfer/encoding - I
received these in a trade.

This is the first time i've heard this, but thousands have ask me
about it over the years. To me it captures the true spirit of Phish.
It happened as we were walking to the bus to leave the venue. somebody
said play us one and we said sure and the roadies got our stuff. i was
already holding my banjo which probably started the whole thing. I was
on tour with them to teach them bluegrass and had been playing with
them on stage some at night. Hoist was being released at the time and
i actually played with them on that material at night as well as the
bgrass set. though they really didn't know bgrass and had just been
playing for a short while, this truly captured the spirit of the music
because of their openess, talent, and what i call that "wonderful
phish curiosity". i was touched to hear this because when you boil it
all down this is what it's all about. the people just want to hear the
music and truly i didn't wanna leave. you can hear the joy. i lead the
jam as phish had never really done that before. when we got on the bus
they were so happy that we did it and i think they felt, maybe for the
first time, the true spirit of what bgrass and folk music is all about.
the jam turned out to be the most important thing that i taught them.
thanks for sharing it. i am touched.
Truly,
"rev" Jeff Mosier

Set 1: Master (from D10) used in below transfer
Set 2: Master > clone(s) (backup) used in below transfer (see below)
Conversion: R500 > Canare Coax > Sek'd Prodif Plus > Soundforge 5.0
(fade in/out/edits/48>44.1 at highest setting[4of4]
with anti-alias filter) > CD Wave > mkwACT v0.97
(shn files have seek tables appended) **No DAE at all**
Detailed info: This recording was done on a stand in Row M, (aka DFC!).
Minor Edits: Fades in/out beg/end of sets--3 sec fade-in's and 5 sec fade out's
Eliot provided two separate versions of set-2; both clones directly
from the master--which is not around. One of the clones has a dropout
from cloning (weird loss of signal) in Harry Hood (I'll call this clone
'clone A' as it is used for most of set-2) the other clone ('clone B')
has a cut at the beginning of Sample. Hence, we don't have access to the
master anymore and these are the two closest things around. So, to make
a perfect source from these two nearly perfect clones of the master I
have used clone A up until right before Harry and there I have patched
in clone B for the rest of the show (about 23m23s). This was done by
patching the two sources at the sample level in SF 5.0 during the crowd
noise between HYHU and Harry Hood. More detailed info is provided in the
48k .shn's as the timing is pertinent in those files and not here, because
all the edits were done at 48k prior to resampling. No music was disturbed
and the patch is done at the sample level so it's inaudible to the human ear,
or as close to perfect as it's gonna get.
Taper: Eliot Byron

"carries" the pieces of this design to the side of the venue where it is assembled and hoisted for everyone to see onto a tower. This wood tower is tall and
covered in painted plywood and has been built during the two shows. As "Harry Hood" goes into its jam, Trey asks Chris to turn the lights off, and the
band jams while the front section has a gigantic Glow Stick War. Trey tells the crowd at the end of the jamto "go and get more of those, because that
was cool." #No Muel Duel. ^The entire art tower was burned to the ground. |

NOTES:
Sorry about disc2, but the other option was to cut Bowie between the intro
and the hook, and then cut the true jam out of Jim to Starnge Design. Hood
picks up without being jammed into, and for all cuts the music is eactly
split, no fades, for simple reconstruction to different tracking, if you prefer.
Two notes of interest, a spike in The Sloth was slightly dampened (-2dB) so
the entire set was better normalized (both sets normalized). I think this
makes our copy slightly superior to the original DAT. Secondly, the audience
was interrupted between the end of 2 to the E, so I used a fade in/out.

There was a strange white canvas ball hanging from the ceiling, on which various images were projected during the show. *With "Auld Lang Syne" tease(s). #During the song, fried eggs, udder balls, and olive loaves were projected on the canvas (in reference/relating to last night's narration). This was followed by the countdown and a balloon drop at midnight. The balloons broke both Page's and Mike's mics. ^With a "Birdland" (Weather Report) tease. $Page sang this Frank Sinatra cover (first time played).

* First time played (Jimmy Smith (jazz organist) cover); had been played at soundcheck(s) in the past.
** Preceded by Trey talking about how this was the first song they played together as a band. Contained a lot of "woo"-ing from Trey. At Trey's suggestion, they began to play it again, but shortly aborted the reprise and went into "Antelope."
^ Produced a jam that segued into "Tweezer."
^^ With "Manteca" teases; also included a Delay Loop Jam.

SPECIAL ALL-ACOUSTIC INCIDENT.
* Billy Solo.
# Kang and Travis only. Introduced as "a Brazilian Choro", with Kang noting that "if you were in the streets of Rio you would probably hear mandolins playing this type of stuff". "Choro" is a style of Brazilian folk music, the name of which is meant to suggest the impression of melancholy in certain guitar modulations.
$ Kang, Travis, and Kyle only.
@ Travis gets the crowd to "make as much goddamn noise as we can!"
