| Tech Notes | Elton John September 17th 1972 Live at The Shaw Theatre London, England ***Contrast Clause*** Goody's excellent version appears at http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=785497 and is not taken from the Silver CD that this one is from. ****** This show has been sort of an obsession for me ever since I heard it on YouTube 3 years ago, and have been searching for a lossless version since then. I believe this is one of the best recordings of Elton in his early, hungry, prime that I have ever heard. Davey Johnstone had joined the band earlier in the year and was figuring out his role in the band as well. His playing is more understated than it would become, and he adds additional texture to songs such as Can I Put You On and Madman Across the Water which Elton had been playing with his three piece band previously. So I was thrilled when Goody uploaded the version noted above in December 2024. He referenced a bootleg CD, and provided the artwork from Discogs (although his version isn't from the CD bootleg). Of course I had to find that bootleg set and, amazingly, I did. That is what I am uploading here. I have compared the spectrum/frequency analysis between the two versions and they are very similar. Therefore, the obvious difference between these two versions is that this version matches the Silver CD bootleg "Elton John - Live at The Shaw Theatre, London - September 17th 1972". I have included my scans of the artwork as well (with the exception of the actual CD scans, those are from Discogs. I didn't want to potentially damage mine. The numbers on the back of the discs and the front pictures are the same, however).
