Notes This was easily one of the coolest productions I've been to and I enjoyed the arrangement, but this was also my first opera- and make no mistake that this is what this production is-and I also don't have a particular attachment to TSP or MCIS. The set and lighting design were well done, including the art deco inspired sun and moon on the walls to either side of the stage. Going in I'd hoped that Billy would bring the guitar out for a little bit, but in the end I wasn't left wanting for it. Lyric Opera was firing on all cylinders the whole night, but the four opera singers stole the show. Their ranges and abilities were astounding, and they even threw in a sprinkle of acting when they were on stage together-a look here or a gesture there when it suited the lyrics. Total professionals. Good crowd and good sound overall. Included extras are a cover, a couple pics, and a PDF of the Lyric Opera program book which includes some interesting information about: the history of MCIS,
set and costume design, and a complete listing of current Chicago Lyric Opera personnel.
