| Notes | *Thoughts: Yes - I'd put money on the taper you'll hear in tracks 1 and 7 definitely saying 'Reel', not 'Roll', but you'll see that the word 'Roll' has made it into all previous editions up til now. Yes, it definitely also sounds like 'roll'. I hear what everyone else was hearing. No doubt. And then I thought about it. Audio tape comes on a reel; film does too. Similar media. Sticky tape comes on a roll. I'm very glad this tape wasn't of the sticky type... He's saying 'reel'. Some of y'all've heard people say it that way too, coming from deeper in the throat. Or - maybe take another word as an example - ( and please, don't mind the spelling) - 'Really' could also sound like 'Rully'. (Ya heard?) That's what I believe this is. Maybe you will now, too. Or you're on the way to gettin' there; give it time... this is new to circulation. ;) With regard to VJ - I'm not hearing that jazzy climbing melody Jimi plays on every other actual performance of his tune that I'd, erm, really identify as VJ. I don't hear that here. My two cents... My thanks to all who provided us with this great archive! This edition - December 2024 |
