Recording for the Freedom Suite album took place on Feb. 11, 1958 and March 7, 1958, but "The Freedom Suite" was recorded exclusively on March 7; - I've labeled the tracks with the IDs and take numbers given in the studio. Sonny's release has the suite as one track with no markers or other identification, so I'll leave a more exact nomenclature to the musicologists. What's called "Selection 1, Third Movement" here is identified as "Interlude" in Branford Marsalis's recording as well as David S. Ware's; - However this was transferred from a reel, it's not seamless. For instance, Track 02 has a cut at ~1:14; and - My source had two more tracks that I've excluded: take 1 of "Till There Was You" (included on a reissue); and "There Will Never Be Another You" (released on Max Roach's Deeds, Not Words). |
