| Notes | Originally shared by mr_mags on 2007-08-14 mr_mags Notes: I left most of the tuning/"dead air" for that true concert-like experience : ) I attended this particular show. Two memories stand out: Walking into the lobby as Jan shook the venue with the opening ominous notes of "Darkness" during his opening set. Also, I remember AJ sitting in his chair just destroying the contrabass. I'm glad I broke out this disc to track & then share because it smokes even more than I remember! Additional Notes: The original audio was overamplified and clipped, particularly on the left channel. I lowered the levels and balanced the channels as follows: Tracks 1-6: Left: -5 dB, Right: -4.1 dB Tracks 7-10: Left: -3.08 dB, Right 0 dB The necessary change in the level adjustment occurs after a cut in the recording. There are a few more cuts in the recording, but the levels seemed to change significantly only after the cut following track 6. The speed of the recording is good. No need for adjustment. To fix the clipping, I first applied a clip fix operation at a threshold of 93% on every section except for Tracks 7-10 on the right channel - there's no clipping there because the levels were lower for some reason. I wasn't really satisfied with the results of the clip fix so I then went through the audio and manually spot repaired hundreds of peaks. Due to the very high number of distorted peaks, I'm certain that I missed some that could be repaired but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I did this work in Audacity and exported the results as FLAC files cut at the same points as the original audio. I created an updated checksum with TLH. -ledwhofloyd (Ross), Jan. 2022 |
