True Love Waits (Thom solo)

radiohead, despite my reservations of them connecting in such a setting, truly blew me away. a particularly bloodthirsty race through "the national anthem" started things off, thom ranting and raving like a man possessed. standouts had to be "i might be wrong" (swampier and surlier than on record, well done), "dollars + cents" (which lurched into a killer, almost can-esque outro, complete with fantastically droning/scraping guitar-overload) and the closing "true love waits", with just thom and a guitar alone before us all. as many others have mentioned on past reviews of recent shows, the band seemed truly "on" - good spirits, high energy and very, very intense. as thom sang "you and whose army?", he mugged into the camera mounted atop his keyboard, thumbing back over his shoulder at us, playfully scowling and generally hamming it up charmingly. as he muttered the refrain, he spun the camera back around for a moment so it pointed at the masses (the implied 'army', as it were), eliciting a roar of laughter from the fans. a truly great moment....
